Ok girls and guys. I'm almost there. I'm just having a bit of a mental dilemma over the name of my shop.

I create modern interior and exterior furnishings, lighting and home decor. Initially I've chosen the name "Primonitions", but I'm having second thoughts. I feel that I need something catchier and this alone has stalled me in my efforts to create my signs and motif.

Any suggestions? Make it a poll on my blog? Name this store? Keep plugging along and hopefully at some point something will click? Argh! I've rented a parcel and paid a month's tier and I'm so hoping to get my shop up within the next few days. I have the product, the name just won't come to me!

How about alliterating your name with the concept of modern furniture? Something like MoxZModerns, MoxZMods, MoxZModernity or similar?

First impression is crisp and clean, with large ads. I have sort of a dislike of overly large ads, as I feel they are tying to make it seem like the store has more than it does. That being said, the items I do see, seem to have a very good quality to them, the biker jackets look very well done. The price is a little high for me, for just a single jacket. They do offer demos of the jacket so that is a bonus. There is a free gift box, but the alpha texture on it seems to make it look rather strange. So watch for that by the door. Definitely go upstairs and have a look at the beautiful clothing up there, totally different from the stuff below! Well worth the walk up the ramp :)
This store rates as very well done, the only thing I would change is I would put the classy stuff on the bottom floor and the biker stuff upstairs.

First thank you so much for visiting, and for the lovely comments about my product!

You are 100% correct about the large ads, they are large because I have a lack of content (something that will change over time hehe) and I try to spread what I have out so it looks like I have more. Guilty! hehe

It is a bit hard to know just how to price a product, especially being a new designer and not having made a name for myself. What I do is research products on venues like SLeX and look at what similar items are going for. With the jackets, I looked at other hand-drawn ones (there is a plethora of photosourced jackets out there but not a huge number of hand-drawn). I look at those prices, and then price my own product (much lower of course, as the ones out there are from well known designers who can command a higher price for their product). Typically I don't like to talk about a particular product of mine in this forum, because I wouldn't want anyone to think I was using the thread to promote a product...but I will defend the pricing on those jackets :) There are two jackets in each box, not just one. One is a regular closed jacket, and the other is the same jacket with an open front. And when it comes down to it, the market pretty much determines the price, that being said, I have sold SEVERAL of these jackets...in fact, more of them in the last 2 weeks than all my product combined in the 2 months before!

We have picked up another small piece of land next to my shop, and in a few weeks we will be doing a redesign. The formal wear and the biker wear will be in 2 separate shops, because they are so vastly different. But first, I'm going to relax a bit and draw somethin pretty :)

Wah!!! (>_<;) This thread is tooooo fast to keep up with. (>_<;)

So far, I've been taking the advice of everyone here, I went to an OnRez vendor for my bigger glasses colleciton. And, it's been so far so good with a bit of a sale here and there. I'm still gonna work on new products, probably still focusing on glasses but hopefully expanding to other accessories. (^_^)

And thanks, Rhaorth, for the visit and review. Yeah, I'm still really early in putting my image together. It seems I buy more to be 'darkly cute' than I sell, but I'm working on it. And the region is a place to explore. There are some very fun Japanese creators around and a little mall that even includes Canal Grande. =^_^=

Please, all, keep them tips and advice coming... This is a fun and wild ride and I'm lovin' it. (^_^)y

Honestly, 1st time I read this on your blog, I was a bit angry but I decided to not reply as it was only on your blog. Now as you moved it on this forum, it's not the same. Fortunately, I have slept on it, i'm less angry about that.
My impressions of this is you tp there and have try to see all only with cam (or perhaps fly or walk but not very long). For sure it's not working if your draw distance is under 200 meters. There actually around 11000 primitives on the sim, so give them a chance to reez ...

To conclude this, I have to say that this place is more than a shop, it's a complete sim dedicated to my business. Your review is the first negative feed back I have about. Perhaps, this sim is the proof that some people in SL love to create but not only for money, just for fun. Since opening in July, I have received many congrats from customers or visitors, perhaps I was desserved a "negative" one.

Anyway, thks you for the time you was in my sim.

Saku....don't be miffed about any reviews...we're here to give honest feedback, and help each other. The title of the thread is "Advice on Sales".....that's the key. If you're doing it purely for fun.....that's awesome....but we've been discussing how to increase sales, and make your store function to the max.

It takes time to visit a store....and time to write a review. So we should all be thankful for this feedback and this opportunity to have advice on how to tweak things. Most people in this thread are busy designing and working on their stores, with an overload of ideas from this thread.......so they made a special effort out of their day to help you out.

I visited your store last night.....and as a frequent evening gown shopper....had some thoughts, too....but the thoughts are on how to capture a sale from me, or another evening gown shopper, more easily.....not sure if I should take the time to write them down, if they are going to offend.

I thought I would do another review tonight given that I have some time and i chose :

FASHIONITY FANTASY

From the outside I was like oooh pretty (though the extravagance texture with the boots off to the side of your store was flickering for me which i found a little distracting).

I like the use of the models and the prims you have next to them with what they are wearing. Hwever none of the three models rezzed for me at any point during my visit. The only things I could see of them was their skirt and hair. Not sure why?? and I wonder if anyone else has that issue? I am guessing you are using SLeek to have them logged in.... the grey thing is an issue with sleek.

I wandered off to the left firt, but not really sure what was where or where i should go once i entered. I didnt really feel a sense of direction. (Maybe a sign directing me what is where or a tper??) I wandered over to your new short dresses, which i ooohed about. But the sign said no copy, transfer. As it was a skirt I sat there wondering if it was mod. I right clicked and tried to buy to see and was told no mod, so i didnt buy cos i have a curvy aveie and no point me having a skirt that may not fit (though I did figure was probably the skirt script I wasnt sure so i didnt buy).

In the room off to the left the outfit that caught my eye the most was the Alegria. However it wasnt cos of the design so much that itwas fro the pose. Some of the other poses you had used for your designs felt a little uncomfortable to me. They made the moe stand on an odd angle. This was a natural angle and a similar pose to that which I have in my ao. (Though the dress is very pretty too :) )

:) The next room on the left that i walked into with the Victoria dresses etc had more natural pose and I find myself smiling more as I check out your clothes. I love that the victora dress offers three skirt lengths. However I also started to wonder as I was mentally picking out items Iliked, what layers the clothes came on. I dont knwo if it is able to be done, but i find gift boxed items frustrating because of this. When i right clicked to buy and check out wht was included I wasnt told.

After andering over the other side i finally went upstairs. I was stunned to find you better stuff was actually up here!! In particular your angelique polka dot dresses are stunning.

Overall??? Well i agree with Rha that the store feels to big for me. The addition of a TP system would solve this. I liked a number of your clothes but didnt buy them becuase I was unsure of the clothign layers anythign was on and if the skirts were mod. I also saw you had whole panels empty downstairs but had lots mroe things upstairs. Bringing some of that down would be a good idea I think.

Your items are well priced overall, certainly not excessive (and yes i am rather frugal when it comes to shopping in SL. ) I would love to see you do some more of the flirty girly, but not tiny clubbing dresses like the angelique dress. I would definately say that is my pick of your store by a mile.

MoxZ....you have a really cute name. I like Skell's idea about putting it in your store name. It's unique and snappy and easy to remember.

I noticed when visiting stores in the thread....I had to go through the whole thread over and over, to match the names up with the stores.....but 2 kept sticking out, because the store name matched the owner's name, and made it easy. Rhaorth with Rha! and Eclectic with E! Eclectic. I won't ever have to go back through the thread to get those store names....because they stuck in my mind.

Generic furniture store names....I tend to forget. So, if I want to go there....I have to go through a search, or go through a zillion landmarks....and my attention span some times can't hold on. My favorite stores have very easy to remember names.....and I can get there quickly. Priminitions is a cute play on words....but I wouldn't remember it.....and I wouldn't be able to spell it correctly for a search. MoxZ is a great name.

It is important that we not be offended by any feedback, because that might cause other critics to be less than honest in their appraisal. I know that based on some of the feedback I have gotten, I have made a few changes and they have been improvements. Remember to look at the comments in general. If 90% of the people who look at your store think that you have lovely displays and 10% think your displays are terrible, go with the status quo (but take a critical look at your displays!). I haven't visited your shop yet, the displays thing is only an example.

There are 4 or 5 shops I meant to get to this weekend but it has been busy and we are having a suprise party for my grandmother's 95th birthday today so they may have to wait till Monday :)

Agreed. The key is to look at *what* is being said, as opposed to *how* it's being said.

If several people are saying the same 'negative' thing about a store, then the store owner should try to take an objective look at whatever point they're mentioning, because these are things that customers are likely to think, too. And without getting into the whole discussion of creating for pleasure or profit, this thread *is* about advice on *sales*, and we're all in this to help each other get more people into our stores, and get them interacting with and hopefully buying the things we make.

I shall remain open and honest and detailed in my store reviews, and I *will* point out things that, as a visitor, I think might hinder a sale, put off a potential customer, or merely catch the eye and be annoying or confusing. I will also offer praise where praise is due. It's good to know what's working, as well as what could be improved.

That said, if anyone on the Merchants List wants their name removed, they can either post here or send me a PM and I'll remove their name so that no further store reviews are done for that store. Likewise, I'm happy to keep adding stores if more people want reviews!

Regarding the Merchants List, I'm going to go through it and add links under each store for the reviews given by each person in this thread. I figure that way it will be easier for us all to see where we've been, and who we still have left to visit.

Another point about accepting feedback...you dont have to use it. Everyone has a different method and different opinion on things...it is always good to have input. However, it is not a requirement that you make changes suggested. Take it all in, process it and decide what advice to keep and what to toss out.

I do alot of biz consulting in SL and when i work with someone who is paying a good amount of money for the advice i am brutally honest and tell them what i think. But, i also offer them ideas on how to make changes and know it is up to them to follow through. Or, they may think about it and come up with another method that accomplishes the same goal.

For those offering feedback...i would suggest that you couch the advice in your own opinions. Meaning things like, "it was hard for me to see the detail in the clothing signs, i prefer them larger." As opposed to "your signs are too small and no one can read them." It is especially hard for people to hear criticism of their own work....its like someone making negative comments about their new baby..lol.

Also, when offering feedback, please remember that not everyone has control over things like the bldg they are in, the things surrounding their store etc. I prefer to just comment on the work first and then the layout. We are here to help each other increase sales first and foremost so that ugly bush next door is really not going to make a or break a sale.

I am wondering how many of you use gift card systems or alternate group systems other than the SL groups. I have considered using both and have been on the fence. Any feedback from those who use these is appreciated...Thanks!

And to anyone who takes a look at my store...thanks...smile.

Just to toss in my two cents on reviews- we all have different ways of saying the same thing - someone said to me earlier here that my store and surrounds were different - someone else said something about weird landscaping- obviously "weird landscaping" can be taken as a negative and could have been phrased differently- but the important thing is they both noticed it was different-

Some know how to phrase things so that their words are enlightening with out causing offense and others just write out what they're thinking with out once thinking the shape of what they mean to convey- we do not have the visuals to ameliorate the impact of our words so while honesty is preferable, measure would be well advised- that said though- the reader is solely responsible for the impact they allow others' words to make. i.e I have read here and in other places about sellers that "photoshop" their goods in the ads to make them look better than what they really are- since this does not in anyway apply to me I refuse to let the comment bother me further than to take note of it. It is good advice after all from both a seller and buyer POV.

Ooh! And today I had a sale- to a relative newcomer to SL who then contacted me saying my clothes didn't work... seems when she wore the item she ended up with a box attached to her hand rather than clothes... I tp'd to the store- explained unpacking and decided it would be helpful to put up a sign explaining this very basic SL procedure for those that have not been inworld long enough. To this day, I can still be spotted modeling an occasional box...

I have visited Fashionity Fantasy and will be back later to post my comments about the store product etc., because I'm in a big hurry at the moment. But I do want to say this:

I landed at midnight. I strongly suggest anyone going there, set your world to midnight.

I started walking toward the entrance and then stopped...and walked all the way back to the Pier, and turned and walked toward the store. Why? Because the sheer beauty of the build took my breath away, and because I realized that it deserved much more than a quick walkthru.

As I approached I stopped again, and adjusted my draw distance. I could see pretty well even tho I set it at the lowest possible settings, but again, I felt that this build deserved more from me than that and adjusted them up a little bit.

From the courtyard, with its beautiful statuary, I could see the fountains inside...just beautiful...

I really have to run but will be back to post about this visit, but I have to say that this is not a store you should hurry through. Take some time, and look at all the elements, this is a beautiful place.

I'll be back!

My shop advice
08-17-2008 08:36
1. High quality/Low prices
2. Use On_Rez, SLEX, and inworld places
3. List perms (copy/mod are the best ones);)
4. When first putting items with On_Rez and SELX, pay a few L$ for the porduct frames to grab attention (You may keep them on if you want, I just use them for new stuff)
5. On_Rez and SLEX discriptions should be simalr (makes it easyer for updates);)
6. If you can spare the prims, place a few freebie boxes at your shop;)
7. Find a high traffic place for inworld shops, like on a main path of the area
8. Put your shop in your picks and SLURLs in On_Rez and SLEX, also keep an LM of the location in your inventory
9. Distinctive signage, make your place stand out (I'm still trying to come up with a shop name/logo, but I'm the only one with the "All items are Copy/Mod" sign
10. If you rent a spot, keep the payments up to keep the shop up

My examples:

http://shop.onrez.com/Raymond_Nightfire

http://www.slexchange.com/modules.php?name=Marketplace&MerchantID=114622

In world location is at the Heron Shire fort, its not hard to miss (use tip 7 and 9 as a giude)

That old vendor had to be replaced with an On_Rez searchable vendor since it maxed out:o
I have three freebie boxes: on the left crazy throwers, middle (used to be part of the old vendor, the glowing blue button in the photo) adjustment tools for my items, on the right generalized freebies
I can't put much out since the vendor, freebie boxes, sign, and both On_Rez and SLEX drop boxes are using 12 of 15 prims for this location

The Merchants Page is now updated with links to all the reviews for each store. If anyone wants to visit a store and review it, please consider some of the stores with fewer reviews, to even out the feedback. My next trip will be to Prawnyloks Parker's store, because poor Prawny doesn't have a single review yet!

I've also added a few more links for resources and helpful posts on this thread.

The shop is huge, yes for sure. I own the complete island, the shop is set on 1/3 sim approx. The other part of the island is landscaping and full of things to discover. It looks like you miss that. There are maze, fantasy creatures, house, waterfall, mermaid, troll, litlle church and many more ..oh yes and a large shop. Last week, a hunt was running all over the sim, it has been a success.

Your sim sounds fascinating and exactly the type of place my Partner and I seek out to explore. The various reviews and various types of shops show the wonderful diversity of SL and its inhabitants and all have their place.

I detest shopping, RL & SL. When I want something, I do a search on the item, go buy it, come home...done until I want something else in a few months. I'm not a window shopper nor fashionista. BUT, if I'm exploring a sim and come across a shop or store, then I'll go in to have a "look-see" and have found most of my favorite "treasures" that way. (Ashira's Ayrie is a place that comes to mind. We go there to horseback ride or visit the elven areas but invariably end up browsing Ashira's jewelry store each time.)

I've been wanting to don my mermaid AV lately - I'll be headed your way. :)

From: Saku Koltai
Wasted place ... I don't think "wasted" is the correct term. For sure there are areas without things to sell, some space are dedicating to relax or even to play piano, or only for freebies.

Another relative term - what one person deems "wasted" is another person's "spacious." Our home is quite large and decorated in traditional Japanese decor. I enjoy the minimalist look and we've had many compliments from visitors on the open space.

Victorian decor, another of my favorites, seems to operate on the theory that if there is an empty spot, by all means put something on it.

Neither right nor wrong...both lovely...personal preferences. :)

From: Saku Koltai
You said about Girl6, they NEED a large shop...

One reason I will never shop at Girl6 is that I got overwhelmed the few times I did go there. Toooooo much and usually too many people for my taste.

Viva la Differance!!

I meant to mention this previously but this post made me think of it again. (And please forgive me if I'm saying something you already know, but just in case....)

The SL Biker community is a great niche market. When I first came to SL, the place I worked (a 1940's vintage dance club) was largely staffed by people who were also actively involved in groups/sims like SLurgis, Saints of Hell, SLaytona, etc. (Those are just the ones I know of - I'm sure there are MANY others!)

When the sim expanded and a boardwalk was put in that included more biker type places...stalls were rented out and were snapped up by merchants selling biker attire and were a HUGE success. (The stalls were likely satellite locations to their main shops.)

I *think* SLurgis is where I saw a lot of cool bikes so I would imagine biker clothing is sold there as well. And much like the Gorean community, from what I saw during that brief time, bikers will pay well for quality and unique merchandise.

Hey Skell.. When you update next could you change mine? =x I'll be hopefully getting stuff set up like it was before, but since the whole SIM that I'm gonna be in is remodeling, it'll be like a month or two lol.

Until then, I'm using Rha's wonderfully placed pond-side location =)

No rates, please! =x It's empty, I know.. Working on it! Lol.

Great customer service Amar :) And gratz on the sale!!!

I've mentioned before that I teach in SL and most of my classes attract newer residents to SL. Regardless of the class I am teaching, I am invariably asked in each one why they tried to put on a piece of clothing and wore a box instead.

I took a series of classes awhile back on scripting and noticed that the instructor had some boxes off to the side with hovertext indicating the contents. Given the class subject and that the majority of the students were generally more "seasoned" residents, I was surprised to see the boxes offered info on: "How to unpack clothes" - "How to change skins/shapes" and other basic functions. I assume he also had those questions asked to the point that he saved time by providing the info.

I'm honestly thinking of doing that now in my classes as well. But in a store...that is an EXCELLENT idea!!

"Modish Mox" Affordable Contemporary Design

JoJo Bailey - I went to your shop for a peek around and my what a busy little worker bee you are! Hehe - I loved the fullness of your shop and considering everything you have, it's not too bad of a rez time. I did however feel a little guilty stomping all over your blankets to get inside. (I took off my shoes mmK). Everything is quality and affordable.
I love the curtains! I haven't seen a whole lot of curtains in world so these should do you well. I only have one suggestion. On your curtains, you need to apply the "totally clear" texture around the edges. Most likely these are only demos and in the actual curtain, you have done this however, on the walls you can see the edge has not been cleared out. It could detour someone from actually purchasing this item so you might want to clean up those edges. Great shop! Awesome variety!

finally, i can do this review thingy. this is just MY opinion, so don't put any real weight to it. i am very picky, and don't part with L$ easily. i tend to veer towards unusual and original items vs. the same ol same ol on every mall corner. so i am reviewing the set ups of the shops (advertising is the point of this thread), not the items themselves, unless something really stands out. i have no business critiquing anyone else's creations, as i am not a professional... and, i'm just another set of eyes in the fora like everyone else. i make no claim to knowing everything, or even anything. i can only comment from my own perspective.

also, i gave each store no more than 3 minutes of browsing. this is from the 'TP in' perspective, my initial reaction and feeling of the place - which i am writing while i am standing in the stores, as i experience it.

if i missed your store, and you WANT me to go peek and give you my opinon of your stores atmosphere, please jsut ask.

ok, here goes:

in the Monkey Mall....
So i'm just wondering if i'm doing something wrong or are my designs not worth the prices i'm charging or is it because of the summer months?

Rhianna, i went to the Monkey Mall from your picks. found you easily because i just followed my red arrow right to your store, upstairs (i personally would never rent an upstairs shop, because i am too impatient to spend enough time in any one mall to visit the upstairs). i think your logo is original and unique. if you are happy with it, i think it's great. it's pretty. if anything, sprinkle a few more diamonds along the bottom so they trail off slowly. i am personally not patient enough for vendor boards, but the way you have it laid out is nice. you have 8 options for each page, so that makes it worth taking the time to click the arrows. the only thing i would change at this location is to fill up the left wall. it would be fun to see a pic that has nothing for sale in it... but a collage of several of your outfits on the same poster, all doing something a little different. i think Kaimi's sig line ad is a good example of what i mean, although you'd probably have to do a square and not a rectangle. you like red, and red pops. so for the type of commercial mall it is, i think you have a nice little stall there. as far as outfits go, i especially liked your men's "Tied Jeans' outfit. we need more casual options for men in SL - desperately. P.S. i love the model's hair in that pic! =) your prices are fine. a customer came in while i was there. =D no lag.
From: Imnotgoing Sideways
critique my stuff/prices a bit... *points at sigline* (^_^)y

from your picks, i didn't find your store pick right away. any way to make it #1? the mall theme is killer. i love a themed place! i felt good being there, right away. your hut is cute, and i wanted to go in. i like that you have your products hung low so i don't have to cam up to see stuff. good job there. i really like your animated picture frame. i stood there and looked at every pic. and it rezzed fast. what size images did you use (looking for personal help here LOL)? on the right wall you have wacky little things for sale. my only suggestion would be to make the ads bigger for everything you sell. i had to cam in to see stuff and normally i just pass right by if i don't see something that cathces my eye right away. camming slows me down. LOL thankfully, i was doing this review so i took the time to cam... and low-and-behold - gadgety stuff is my 'thang' so of course right away i found something i like. i make wacky stuff like this too, but i don't sell any of it. i am now the proud owner of a gathering ring. i can't wait for the opportunity to use it. again, we have a vendor for your main product, the glasses. all too small, but it's a clean set up. i have this thing about geometric balancing. my only suggestions about your shop are to #1 make ads bigger, #2 balance the set up so the squares stacked like a pyyamid? i look forward to more product. since i loved the mall theme, i browsed a few other stores - because i liked being there. i realized, i have been there many times before, i just never was in your store. good choice in location. it's the sort of place i'd like to have a spot, just 'cause i like the atmosphere. no lag.
From: Amaranthim Talon
Amar! i TP'd in and was met with a blank wall blocking my path to your store. move that! ooh..... you have a lucky chair. *smiles* your store has really filled up since i was there. feels a little like an art gallery now. i would love to see you make the store bigger, so stuff isn't all over the middle of the floor. my only suggestion regarding layout takes me back to the geometric comment.... stuff seems jsut stuck haphazardly and hurriedly. it might feel less chaotic if you organized them in some sort of order. maybe groups if you don't just want walls of lined up boxes. lastly, i am anxious to see your new adboards. all those piccies on each board.... my head is spinning. i think maybe limit your ads to a front/back shot, and save the 4-5 shot ads for featured items - so they really stand out! your stuff is nice, and i think my favorite piece happens to be your new Enchanted. i don't wear dresses often, but i do like the colors and style of that one. and contrary to other opinions, i like the free standing cut out. it stands out, and makes you look THERE when you walk in. your store is lovely, but a little chaotic. your logo is great. i know you said it's a work in progress, and i look forward to coming back when you are done. =) minor lag.

the TP landed me outside of your store. i'd make it inside if possible. freebies!!! :) my first question is, what Harley do you have in RL? LOL i like it here. i like that you have the formal wear upstairs, seperated from the casual. you ads are nice and big up there, but a little high so i have to cam. i like your ads - they are clean and simple. easy to navigate. i have no real complaints except that nothing JUMPED out at me because nothing was 'featured'. i was comfy here. NEW items in a central location. Sale items obvious. no lag. overall, i thot you did a great job.
From: Jojogirl Bailey
if any of you want to drop by and let me know what you think...im open.

WOW! you have a lot of stuff. i have to climb over stuff to get to other stuff. can you make a trail? overall, it feels like Beds, Baths & Beyond. similar items are grouped, rezzing is not too bad, and i like that you don't have hover text and ad signs everywhere. felt clean. like a real store. my only other concern is this... if i buy a curtain (or whatever has transparent edges) from you, it will be a copy of the displayed item. the edges are not going to be totally transparent, and that white line will show while they hang in my house. i would not buy that item just for that reason. you've pretty much stated that you won't change anything else, so i guess i am done. no lag.
From: Kesseret Steeplechase
I'm curious how my store looks from a customer's point of view as well now, if you please:
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Amira/40/84/21

my TP had me facing away from your store. i went in.... don't change a thing (except one)! you have a lucky chair with great stuff in it! =D you have demos! =D FREEBIES!!! great job! only thing i would change is to make sure that you utilize the bottom of the walls before stacking up high. i like eye level items, and cam if i like the stuff i see right away. so your left wall as you first come is is most attractive to me, and i bought something from that wall... which happened to be up high, but that's cuz the stuff i saw at eye level was quality, so i took the time to cam around. oh, i and i couldn't figure out how to tell the kitty the secret word. i like your stuff. i will shop here again. no lag.
From: Eclectic Wingtips
I would love some help and advice too ... anyone wants to pop over to my store and give me some advice I would appreciate it

i like the new item featured before i even get in to the store. it's pretty stark out there though, and i would love to see a little plant life or something to soften it up a bit. besides that, honestly, i would change nothing. i knew exactly what was for sale, the ads weer crisp and clean, the prices were obvious for the most part.. you even organized by price in the first part. very calming environment. your logo approach is great. so you don't have to clutter up all your ads. good idea (thanks). if you can spare the prims, it'd be great to see one or two items rezzed and on a display column or something. and maybe an original teddy or something strewn about to messy it up a bit. very well done. no lag.
From: Surreal Babii
I would love if someone could critique my shop as well.
HTW Land Management Group, Dahaus-modern furnishings & Play Sexy Animations, Play Sexy (46, 22, 22)

TP'd right in to the middle of the store, so i just stood there and did a 360* spin. your stuff is nice and low, so i could see everything. i like the way you have tiers for displaying items. very pleasant. organized, grouped nicely. i am all about the freebie, so i decided to walk the premises. i saw that you had some rezzers out, but when i clikced them nothing rezzed. i only saw the aqua hover text. it worked for the shoes though, and i found that a clever approach. NEW items featured. =D very clean design for a store with a lot of product. since you could afford the prims, i love that your items are out and 3D and not just boxed. very nice. good background decor. a little slow to rez, but no lag.
From: Marcel Flatley
Because I built the place, I am to biased to see its flaws, and I know there are changes to be made. Some I do have in my mind, but I rather have other peoples views on it.

big store. LUCKY CHAIRS! =D right away a Toucan dive bombed me. i love animals so was digging the ducks and swans. :) first thing that caught my eye was little mall type shops, so i went and looked at them first. freebies!! and wearble sculpted feet. finally made it to your store, with only 1 minute to spare. you have a simple sign explaining how to use the furniture. very good. your store decor is tropical, but none of your items are. for those with decorating brain farts, we won't know how to use the furniture you have displayed. i bet if you decorate areas to match the style of furniture, it might up your sales. just my initial reaction. i like the low prim theme, and that they weren't sculpties... so none of that bubble-look until stuff was rezzed. items were placed around in an orderly fashion, and i found it easy to navigate. store construction and layout attractive. very laggy though. =(
From: Miles Beck
I'd welcome comments on my shop, too.

oooh. Hallmark store. very clean layout. extremely organized. love the gift wrap boxes as you first walk in. i am attracted to shiny things. LOL color combinations are nice. and you had ice cream. =D my fave part of your store was the canned lighting. very nice Miles. change nothing. no lag.
From: Nissa Rayna
Oh and if anyone should decide to visit my store, please be aware that i am working on changing things .. need a new sign for sure, thats being the hardest part so far :D

Love the plants outside when I TP to the store. nice big pictures. some a little high, but they are framed so beautifully, i WANT to cam and see what you have. really terrific stuff! and your whole sets have so few prims overall, i think you could totally advertise as low prim furniture. there is a mood in your store, and it reminds me of a Japanese theme, which i am partial too. it is very warm and inviting and i think you have done a great job. at first i wasn't sure about the placement of the rugs, but it's growing on me. if you can spare the prims, it'd be wonderful to see a sample or two placed under the Abbey and Apple ads. your logo on each ad is very subtle, and the frames totally make the ad! good work! no lag.
From: Mickey Vandeverre
I have 2 floors of resale items, from my favorite designers, and mix other designers' accessories in with my furniture, (since I just started), and have not had time to design all that stuff....so please only critique my own pieces on the first floor, and not the others....

i have been here before. you make very good use of hte space, but i think you have too much stuff crammed in to the store. but..... i LOVE that you hve everything organized so someone will know how to decorate. ie: if you want this look, buy all this. great selling tactic. you love bold colors, and the whole place has a fun, beachhouse feel to it, yet it's contemporary enough to be at home in a modern skyrise. after walking around the 1st floor for the whole 3 minutes, i finally detect order and grouping. i think though, it would take that long to look at everything anyway, so perhaps the cluttered environment works, in this case. evil lag. i kept freezing up in there.

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Jindalrae/32/17/445

FREEBIES!!! ooh, purty fireplaces. your ads are too small, in my opinion (everyone in the mall has the same problem). i had to get close, or cam, to see what was for sale. but ooh... fireplaces. your prices are.... low. are these resale items? i loved the stained glass fireplace, so i bought it. everything is fine, except your piccies are too little and it's hard to see what you are selling, and nothing JUMPED out as a featured item to make it exciting in there. and of course, if you make them bigger, you'll have to make them lower. but they are at a perfect height right now, for their size. seems you are limited by the mall theme, but the colors work for your items, so good job there. your products seem to be high quality, so i hope you consider raising your prices as well.... having said that, i am tempted to buy one of everything before you do. LOL no lag.

TP'd in to what seems the middle of the business. i only have 3 minutes, so i am deciding to hit the outdoor decor section. the tulip decor is fabulous. very inviting. the statues behind make it feel very upscale. ok, well, that's just a visitor section. back towards the store i go. inside... WOW! gorgeous! you have a nice model wearing a beautiful dress. i want to see more. i navigated to the bridal/formal section. what lovely decor. your products are well displayed, the pics are nice and big, and low, and i am still awed by the decor. i have to walk a lot because it's so spread out, but somehow it's worth it. i just like being in here. found your casual line upstairs. i was running out of time, so resorted to flying. oooh... Anushka. very cute. i have no complaints about the set up or ads, and i love the statues everywhere. very upper end. i broke my 3 minute rule, because there was a whole lower section and i'm glad i went. you have CAMOFLAUGE!! so of course i had to have some! LOL someone get me out of here before i spend what little $L i have left. =O ok, your store rocks and i love love love the globe waterfall. don't change a thing. laggy. =(

Thanks for the feedback, 3Ring. Holy Quantum Leap, were you using the Starship Enterprise or something? Talk about warp factor 9 to get around all that lot!

Prices are low, yes, because nobody was buying at higher prices. They're all original items (and thank you for drawing my attention to the fact that people may think they're resell because of the low prices; I'll put an info board or notecard in the store to inform people they are all original creations).

The feature item is actually in the store opposite. I'm in the process of planning a rebuild of the mall to use less prims (yay for the new megaprims!) but the standout item is the Gentleman's Study build. I'm in Photoshop as I type this, putting together a 'more items this way' sign for the main store that will point toward the featured item, though.

Picture size. Hm. I do see what you mean. I *would* have to move the images around if I enlarged the ad boards, which would mean they would fill the walls from ceiling to floor. I'll try it out on a mockup of the store elsewhere and see how it looks.

Again, thanks! A few things to think about there :)
