yes laying in photoshop

all I did was clone the background of the logo (since I no longer have the file heh) then I cut away the white from her ad, and then lassoed the 2 pics, and moved them, removed the white background, also lassoed the logo and name/perms and moved them around

If you are serious amar we can talk (about me doing the ads) I used to do that as a side business, but then the person took the time to learn to do it themselves (as far as I know hehe)

what they did was send me the outfits, I took the pics as the model and put it all together and then sent them the finished ads. (they also paid me on top of the outfits, I could keep or return them, but they just said keep or sell)

anywho...

the one thing I would suggest though

is once you find a layout you like, stick with it, keep things consistent

as a designer who does my own ads, it makes it a lot easier and quicker to have a template that I can plop things into

and as a consumer I find it much easier when I go to a store that uses a consistent template for their ads
I am one of those folks who read the ad, look for permissions info etc, and if I have to scan each ad to find that info, that tires me, if I see one ad, and the rest are set up the same way, I am more likely to stick around to find what I am looking for

Although I had semi tried for consistency - I haven't been consistent about it :p... the idea of a template is great- I will set one up and I am sure that will not only add flow but also make my life easier.

totem posting heh

question to both consumers and designers....

when you purchase or make a shirt, that uses the jacket layer so it has the added length, do you add it to pant (or as a comsumer do you like when it is also included on a pants layer WITH the pants included)

also lately I have been noticing that ppl are using the underwear layer for this as well... what exactly are they doing? is it so that it has the tucked in look even when wearing low rider pants or other low rider skirts and such?

and is that done on shirt and underwear as apposed to the jacket?

the reason I ask is I just finished a set of shirt (with the "tails" I guess it is called) and now that I am ready to upload... I am not sure where to put them LOL

(I did it with the pants layer with the shirt on the pants as well, just basic jeans)

no worries hon, I know the feeling

you can of course grab that one and use it if you like (I have no problem at all with that, after all it was derived from you original ad heh)

I prefer the longer length to be on the jacket only, purely for the reason that I might want to wear the pants separately, which I can't do if the lower layer of the jacket is painted onto the top of the pants.

Underwear layer tends to be used for a 'tucked-in' look together with a shirt layer, so that a jacket can be worn over the top, especially with low-rise pants. I took some screenshots a while ago to illustrate, but never used them:

Yep, because it then means a jacket can be worn over the top of the shirt :)

awesome ty that is what I thought

I was thinking... jacket layer, shirt with underwear layer for tucked in, and shirt with pants (which have the bottom of the shirt on them) for an untucked look, and ability to wear a jacket, and also the pants without the shirt panted on for those who want to wear them with something else...

so that would require... (If I have this right LOL never attempted much with jackets and such before)

1 shirt, 2 pants (one with shirt one without) 1 jacket and one underwear?
Do the underwear actually have underwear with it, or just the shirt tails?

I've only seen it with the shirt on the undwear layer, no undies. I've never seen the longer layer painted on the pants too, so that you can go untucked and save the jacket layer for something else. That is a cool idea, but if I could only have one I would prefer pants without out the shirt tail panted on, and wearing the shirt tucked in using the shirt and undies layer(makes it easier to mix and match. I almost never wear sets together. All the options would be a total bonus!

I really like it when longer shirts come as a jacket and shirt + underwear layer, btw.

Depends on the individual designer. Some go with just making a band low enough to fill the gap left by even the lowest-rise pair of jeans, some carry the underwear layer down to form a basic pair of underpants from the same material.

Thanks for the input

I like options, so therefor I like putting options into the stuff I make and sell

this has helped me out a lot

I am gonna go with... shirt on shirt layer, shirt on jacket layer
bottom of shirt on pants and pants with no shirt
bottom of shirt on underwear layer, with and without the basic underwear under them

(I have been trying it in world using my nylons panty as the panty base and it is cute with the panty layer and can lead to a lot more "fun" with it that way soooo... that being said... time to try to not confuse myself with all the options and start putting these together LOL)

whew, just think, this shirt started out as the breast feeding shirt for faithless hehe (if you are watching hon, expect a package from me with the updated shirts and layers and etc)

hehe

edited to add that the thought crossed my mind that if someone were to wear this with a small skirt that did not use or require a glitch pants, they might want some kind of panty hehe (options are good) hehe

Got home half an hour ago from a day out and opened up SLX, only to find one single sale for today...

BUT!

That sale was for the full pack of the Gentleman's Study that I spent two days sweating over, and it's the most expensive thing I have on sale!

I feel rich :D

A couple of reviews... finally
08-15-2008 12:28
I finally got around to visiting a couple of stores today. Hope I'm not too late in the day.
Here goes my 1st couple of reviews...

Rhianna Larkham - Rose Encrusted Fantasy, Dream City

Nice small store, not too much crammed into a small area and easy to navigate.
Could use a couple more items, but I'm sure your working on that.

I'm impressed that no vendors have been used. I hate it when small stores put out a couple of vendors crammed full of dozens of items that take ages to click through. Not so bad with just a few items in though.

Not sure if the hover text above the Group Invite sign is meant to be there, you might want to check the script out in case it's hidden in there somewhere.

Amaranthim Talon - Talon Faire at Terminus Gardens- Main Store, Misto Presto

Liked the overall feel of this store, but I think it felt a little cluttered. I would try to make a little space so it's easier to see each item more clearly. But then again I have been told before that I'm sometimes too structured myself! If you have control over the building itself, it might be worth making it a little larger or maybe adding another floor.

Imnotgoing Sideways - Darkly Cute, Ferguson

Loved the themed area here. Makes a change to see something a little different.
This was also easy to look around, but if anything it felt a little empty. I guess you're probably working on new stuff to fill it out too. More stuff to look at would probably keep people here longer.
You definitely need to look at keywords and your parcel title too.

If anyone is interested you could take a look at my small store in Huntsman...
http://slurl.com/secondlife/huntsman/162/112/115
I was lucky enough to get this parcel when first land was still on offer. I think I've managed to get the maximum out of the parcel without making it too crowded. It might give people an idea of how much you can actually squeeze onto a 512m2 parcel.

I hope to visit some more stores over the weekend and will post more reviews then hopefully.

Thank you Prawnyloks- it is cluttered- I know! It's the result of having made the boards bigger :(

Sadly- no - the building is not "expandable- really love that building but may have to consider replacing it. I have no real room to even add more things now.

Congrats Czari- on your Partnership and your efforts- you have done a lot!!

And today I did reshoot my dress pix and will redo the add shortly- between bouts of RL- I need t take something for that.. is there a shot do you suppose?

Pills and B-12 shots for energy :)

Thank you so much for your well wishes...at a year, we've beat the average SL "odds" on partnering but nothing or no one can be taken for granted.

From what I've seen so far I LOVE your style of clothes - my style in evening wear runs toward medieval/vintage/and of course anything I can wear gloves and a veil over when I visit Gor *grins*

Thank you- had not thought about Robes of Concealment since mostly I do for dance thigns- but I do have a set of silks..

I own one FW gown since I do not generally go into Gor- but it is a bulky thing and I do not care for it much- while I am sure in the novels the ladies did stay concealed, I imagine there was a bit of coquetry else why bother to kidnap them off the ramparts ;) ?

Rha, You DO have a way with and excellent eye for ads! I second the motion of doing a sideline biz in adverts. (I know I need a LOT of help!!) :)

Except for the hard core rp sims, the few I visit have the FW bascially wearing lovely Medieval type gowns or other similar lovely ones (I have a good friend that purchases her's from an Elven shop)...then add gloves (some do not even bother with that) and a veil. Most of my Medieval ball gowns and one Victorian dress do "double duty" as Gorean robes.

I've been asked by multiple friends in a couple of Gorean sims to please consider renting at least a small wagon from them if not a satellite shop due to my "Lady's Dagger." I don't do clothes, but have been wracking my brain trying to think of other items for FW (less available than for slaves). That is an excellent crossover "nitch" market.
