From: Prawnyloks Parker Pretty sure I'm in at least a couple of these types of groups. Think HomeStyle Consolidated is one, but I'll check when I get back in-world and let you know. Thanks Prawny - I am in Homestyle and the Home Freestyle one though not a huge fan of freebies. Cristalle was kind enough to share with me the name of the magazine she uses to advertise and I found this one inworld: http://www.rezmagazine.co.uk/I am sure there are more but sometimes it seems they are closely held secrets

One thing that struck me in your post Amar.....
if they are such closely guarded secrets, how do they get members in their groups or people to read the magazines ? Surely something like that would need to be easily visible to make it worthwhile joining or paying to advertising in such a magazine ?

From: Prawnyloks Parker Marcel, I know it's only "small potatoes" at the moment but you could join in with the BO-Xchange. The more people that join in the better it'll work. What is that group exactly about then? Never heard of it Furthermore I decided to hire someone to create my ad, and if done well I will use the same image for my parcel and classified picture. Somehow I think that might help the amount of actual clicks, plus I do suck at making ads The script I was talking about earlier is now in its final stage, as soon as it it through beta testing by some users, I will update you all. Probably every merchant that rents shops can benefit from it. By the way... how are your average sales doing day by day? It really baffles me that the difference can so big. The difference between a bad day and a good day is 10 fold, so if on a good day I would sell 10k, on a bad day it can be 1k. Are your revenues as unstable as well, or is it just me?

From: Marcel Flatley What is that group exactly about then? Never heard of it It's not a group Marcel. It's something some of us Biz Owner Network members are taking part in. Here's a link to the post where I put most of the info when it was asked for earlier. /327/ac/274749/117.html#post2334672If you want to see it in action pop by my main store. If you decide you want to take part, then send me your LM and texture before this Sunday. I plan to pass out the latest version on Sunday to the group. I need to update as there have been a few more joined. I'll pass you an info notecard in-world too

yay, I still haven't updated my logo (now that I finally understand what constitues a logo)
I'm having a hard time figuring out what type of logo might indicate what I do. I thought about models silouettes but I'm not a model. I thought about a needle and thread but that doesn't really do it for me.
So for now, I remain the same lol

So for now, I remain the same lol There's bound to be another update next month, so no rush Ralektra. Logo wise, bear in mind your actual logo does not have to have pictures in it. It could just as easily be type only. My PP Designs roundel has no pictures, it's just type arranged in a "designed" way, that includes my tag line "The Home of Low Prim Designs". That's purely a personal choice, your logo could include a pic too. Your advert however definitely needs to be a combination of stuff. Have your logo, some product shots and maybe a tag line to explain what you're about.

Thanks Prawnyloks for sending the information For the moment I am not going to participate, but that might change later. Currently I am testing with what is working best for my marketing, and I do not want to test too much at the same time. This way I can see the results of individual decisions easier. What I wrote in a different thread is some interesting information for shop owners: From: Marcel Flatley My latest actions do show something very interesting though. Because I was starting up a new company, I spent all my in-world time in building the stuff for it, setting up a quarter sim as the store, so it took me a few weeks in total to get where I am now. All that time I did not put any effort in my main business (only did the customer service, no new releases). And while the sales of my new store were pretty good from the start, I did see the sales of my main store drop. My search ranking did not change, the store still sells the same stuff, but it shows very well that a store needs permanent action to stay interesting for the people. At least, that is what I am thinking.
Furthermore, I noticed a drop in sales from my new plants store. So I logged in, and saw my classified had expired. That same classified gave me a #1 ranking on the keywords I wanted, and it seems that it did pay for itself. So I forked over another handful of lindens and hope to see the results pretty soon

I'll be posting here when updates are due out anyway, so keep an eye open for them or just IM me if you do decide to join in. At least, that is what I am thinking. It seems to me that permanent action is a combination of new products and advertising. Personally I find it very difficult to find enough time to juggle both!

I totally agree that releasing new products keeps momentum going....my customers expect it and eagerly await new stuff.

Well the result of the new classified seems quite obvious. Now it could be incidental that I had a sales drop the same time my classified expired, but for the moment I will leave it as it is. More news: www.sapireundesign.com is now mine, for the time being it only holds my XStreet listings plus of course a banner. But the hosting plan allows for much more, if I ever see the time I will add a blog and other functionality as well. One remark to some of you: get those urls to onrez out of your signatures

Word of mouth works great.....get a Wonder Book
03-17-2009 15:18
Advertising in SL mirrors RL, for the most part. Word of mouth advertising is the best, no two ways about it. Ask any real estate agent. I suggest that you get yourself a Wonder Book. There are many solid reasons to use it. Look it up and you'll quickly understand why. It's 100% your own publication.......you have total control......you can even have your own cover page......Unlimited copies, Unlimited publishing, Unlimited times you can re-publish and every time you update your master copy, all copy's all over SL will be automatically updated....It's really a no brainer....ongoing and changable advertising with no ongoing fees. Your publication will contain any pictures you want, it will scroll any text you want into the reader's chat window.....you can even include sounds....and all are changeable for each publication update that you do. All you need to get started is purchase a one-time KEY. The best part is that once you give your publication out, everyone who has your publication can share (give a free copy) with their friends......Your copies will multiply like rabbits and so will sales. The key to sales is having a great product, having it priced right and most importantly, getting people to know it exists and where to get it. Oh, with the Wonder Book, you even know how many times your publication has been read. Like I said....it's a no brainer.

sl has many differences from rl marketing tho the basic concepts are the same...the channels are extremely different. this wonder book sounds interesting but once ive gotten it and its sitting in my inventory, what will prompt me to take it out and even look to see those changes? i like the part about ease of changes, etc...but im trying to understand how this would work...

Yeah that. Voice, I assume you are selling the Wonder Book, but I've never heard of it and I don;t see it listed on xStreet or any SL related results when I Google it. It sounds nifty, it also sounds an awful lot like the Thinc book, but I repeat Jojo's question, why would anyone open it?

And where is a demo available?
I will also add that every notice i get that contains a HUD or catalalogue that i have to wear and click etc- i instantly delete- don't want to make the effort- so yeah- wh would i want to see this one?

I didnt mean my comments to be negative...but other than the ease of changing the content, i just would like to understand the full value of this as marketing tool. in my experience so far, most "books" in sl are pulled back into inventory because they are often heavily scripted which can cause lag when left out on a table etc. so im just trying to understand how and why i would look at it more than the the first time i recieve it. will there be some sort of notification process to all owners of my catalog or book - like an im or a notice or something to tell me to go look at the book? often i forget about things that live in my 15,000+ item inventory...hehe...so i would need some prompting to go look again etc.

Oh i agree Jojo- it just brought to mind that fact that i dont even open or accept any notice that comes with an object attachment- i just know i am never going to look at it so why clutter m inventory worse than it is now? If there is something that makes this more desirable- by all means!
