I am tired of wrestling with LL, trying to get them to see the value in their own creation.

Every night all of humanity falls one by one, each into their own dream-space .. and in SL that dream-space can be made visible, touchable, malleable by one's conscious mind.

Facebook, PAH! LL has a hook into the ID, and doesn't realize it. They should be working with well-known authors to develop sims that tickle our souls - transcendentally beautiful sims, deeply horrific sims, trap sims, fantasy romance sims.

Fools.

Show me what is in your dreamspace, post the picture that you just ... can't ... forget.

Here Cee and Litta are, in AM Radio's dream-space.

/me stares at the big hole in the ground where her region usually sits. Er..

(then again, I just asked LL to restart this mainland region and they said "wow.. it does need a restart." and 10 seconds later, we had a 5-minute warning pop up.)

/me sends Nika a sheep instead.

The home I could never hope to have in reality. My home in SL: Based on Hikone Castle, in Japan.

I don't have any decent pictures that I haven't already posted, but I agree. Second Life is for creating interactive environments. It is not for social networking - or if so, that might be one small (and inefficient) facet of its infinite potential. One hike through the various Science Islands is enough to convince me of that.

I am deleting my skybox gallery and will be trying to create an interactive artistic environment of my own -- now, while I can, before MySecondFaceSpaceBookLife becomes a mundane norm. You never know when the masses will try to get you to join with the hive mind.

(Of course, I realize we are overreacting a bit as we always do, but dang!)

A little escapist entertainment for a few hours a week, that's about it. LL is making it so even that may not be the case in the near future.

According to LL:

SL is only good for selling cheap overpriced micro-skirts, bimbo shapes, and ass-crack pants to people (just look at what's left on xstreet).

Well, its also the best platform out there for business meetings and education.

And its one heck of a datamine, just ripe for plunder.

All other uses are trivial, unimportant, or even possibly detrimental.

I have to pick just one picture? Impossible... I've seen so many amazing places in SL, that's why my blog contains over 600 pics and counting.

But just for you I will post one that I haven't posted before; this is from one of the MadPeas adventures called "Mad Alien Hunt". We were in an antigravity environment in some kind of living spaceship.

That's a lovely home in a beautiful setting! It's one of the reasons i still explore a lot, in the hope of finding those gems. ( I don't explore as much as Marianne! :) )

SL replaced a $60 per week Anime/Manga habit for me and in turn I now have people to chat and share time with along with a $50 per month income (which I spend just as fast). (^_^)

Can't be a bad thing. (^_^)y

Its a tie between two for me.

and

The first is a pic from one of the times I've been exploring in SL. This one is from Pteron. I loved the entire time I spent there, and this picture, just summed up the possibilities to me.
The second is at AM Radio's The Quiet. Just sitting being peaceful, enjoying SL.

SL is good for many things. I don't come on here to make money, for me it IS a social place (yet totally unlike facebook etc). But thats only one of many things SL is.

To me, SL is:

-a home where I will never feel unwelcome, where I can be whatever I want to, nothing is wrong. I can sit by myself and think, or go find endless possibilities of things to do.

-full of fantastic friends who support me when I need it, or just give me a good giggle when I'm feeling low.

-the opportunity to Travel and explore places I dont get to see in Real Life, either because of distance, or that it is impossible in Real life - to see other people's ideas and dreams.

-a way to express my own creativity - nothing is impossible. I can create whatever I wish. Usually with the camera.

Most of all, SL is FUN. I don't come online just to copy RL. I come to enjoy myself, to laugh, create, discover...

I thought SL goal(or was) for the user to be able to make their own dream world.

The sad part is it has just become a place where the dreams of striking it rich off the sale is more of the theme of dreams these days.

I find SL to be dull now,It has just has become a place where dreams of the user has nothing to do with being creative.

It is hard to bring a dream to life when every one is awake 24/7 in a mad rush to be the next trend and strike it rich.

Look at SLX,the dream to bring SL creations to the user faster with out having to search threw laggy shops, now it's nothing more then a chop shop for stolen goods.
Or a place for people to find popular themes and just copycat them for 10L....

I'm still living the dream. (^_^)

It may be a good idea to take a break or find a creative outlet you're more comfortable in. (^_^)y

Not if you are going to Photoshop yourself into them like you did the last time.

My imagination is the only reason I remain in SL......there's nowhere else that I can play with a constantly evolving, moving, canvas. I think some of the more dream like areas get overlooked by those who are, well, shopping for mini skirts. But not everyone has the same agenda in the virtual. And the idea, after all, is to try and appeal to everyone. Shame tho...I'm such a sucker for the total fantasy dreamscape sims. One of the coolest right now is the Bamboo Gardens. (I think that's the name) It's one of those minimalist areas that makes it seem as if you've stepped into someone's drawing. I don't have any pics of it yet...but I do need to get there before it vanishes like so many other great places have.
