Hey all, I was just wondering if there was any "social" resident forums? The ones here are based more on questions and answers. I just wanna chit chat. :-)

Used to be but it went the same way as dwell, first land, L$500 stipends, Live Help, usable searches, stable teleports....ok am bored typing now..someone else can carry this on, maybe we could take shifts to get the whole list of "what was" finished

Most social methods of communication are rooted in-world. Do you guys think we need non in-world social forums too? And Porky, don't you like the new sun?

Sure I do, the sun is very shinny and nice :) And to be honest the old forum was a nightmare, endless bickering and bullying we are better off without it IMO

Well yes actually. But unfortunately, no script areas killed my compulsive hugging  Good thing though, my ninja humper still works.

...forgive me - am punchy.

We used to have a General forum and an Off Topic Forum. I guess LL couldn't spare the time to moderate them so they went. There was also a Linden Answers Forum where you could ask questions of LL and they supposedly replied. That went.

Live Help in world used to be great - the helpers would come to your location and help with anything you needed. Now you just get told to look at the knowledge base. Not quite the same.

I disagree Heretic - I learned a huge amount from the general forum when I first started and some of the threads were brilliant. I still miss it.

A lot of us do Rhi but alas those forums are no more.

Well, very simply, a ninja humper allows me to attach myself to someone unsuspecting...and well...you get the rest. :D

Yes, please. But just one open forum to discuss whatever that may or may not be related to SL.

How delightfully snarky of you Heretic.

I think we guys made it abundantly clear before you guys cancelled the forums that we DID think we needed non in-world social forums too. And you know that! So your fake question followed by the non-sequitur about the sun doubles the snarkiness of your post.

And some people wonder why there's an undercurrent of dissatisfaction with LL right now.

Heretic, Since you work for Linden Lab, could you possibly alert Customer Service to the problems many people are having that are detailed here in the forums? Maybe social communication might be rooted in-world, but service communication doesn't seem to be.

Is it just me but does anyone else often find it difficult to make new friends in world or even find places that are worth going to socially inworld that don't involve photos of sex workers, a bunch of screaming avatars on dance floor or horrible lag?
There things like putting together support or fun, enterntainment related groups threatricial or unique event or groupss, and other things I have interest in but it so hard to find people to do things whether creating group or even posting in available places within forums. Search requires lots and lots of advertising fees to just get noticed. I am sorry I am not willing to pay tons of money in advertising for social activities that may or may not get noticed.
Group system is joke its only good for get the 10 percent land bonus not for socializing.

Why not use the events listing. http://secondlife.com/events/ This is free and can be searched in world. There are rarely anymore than 20 Arts/Cultural events on in anyone day so your theatrical event would get noticed very easily, mainly by the type of av that you would want to come along anyway.

Oh that's true enough as long as you're able to log in.

Social SL-related forums are very important to folks when the grid's down or they're at work and thus unable to go in-world.

But I sense you knew this already. :)

I joined at first several those forums actually several but I haven't been able to relog or even get my password or even assistance. Between trying to remember which groups I joined, passwords and frusterations I gave up trying fan base forums. There seems to be more interactions good and bad here then anywhere else.
Also truthfullly using Second Life forums that are connected with one password, my account are more convient then the fan base forums.
I know its probably inconvient for Second Life's management Linden Labs to manage, etc and they want to be hands off but often for those of us who are already over-extended, trying to navigate through learning, connecting, creating in Second Life and non Second Life obligations there only so much energy and time.
While I understand LL wanting to hands off when in regards to most things as someone who pays as much I do I wish there were somethings they were bit more hands on about i.e like allowing place for exchange of thoughts and to continue to allow or encourage more space for the exchanges in the officialforums and more variety inworlds spaces like in the forums not push it off to whomever wants to start them.
Truthfully I wish there was simpler way to connect, share ideals, creations, ideals and questions that currently exist. I often feel like I am only one who can see or gets the issues of social networking systems that exist. I don't know know t the answers to fix this though.
I do admit eventually I probably just give up and go elsewhere if it continues which means LL will lose 85 usd a month from me.
