Saw this on Xstreet, and thought it'd be good here too.

Simple Rules:
1) List your true confessions (Only 3 is fine!)
2) One confession must be about SL

As for me:

RL:
1. I have a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy that will probably put me in a wheelchair in 15-20 years.
2. I'm 25 and all relationships have been online and/or SL (which is sorta the same thing)
3. I've never driven a car in my life!

SL/SL-to-RL
1. I am MUCH braver talking to people in Second Life than in RL.
2. Have never paid a RL cent for money in SL and have gotten up to 22,000L
3.I have a Child Av, as well, because it soothes my want for a child in RL

It doesn't look like people want to take you up on your truth or dare venture. Many don't like to mix RL and SL for lots of different reasons. Me too. Maybe I can come up with something innocuous.

RL:
1. I used to have an interesting career and now I am in a very dull (though more secure) career and hating every moment of it.

2. I once lived in a Mayberry-type village and as a long haired freaky looking counter culture wannabe, received regular large US Mail shipments from Redstone Asrenal for a free lance illustration job I was doing. When I picked up the first shipment the post office clerk was suspicious for some reason. "Are you sure these are for you?" I looked around hastily as if to see who might be listening, read the guy's nametag, and said in a low official tone, "The address is correct , Mr. Phillips." Got a lot of quick service there after that.

3. In dog years I am 371.

SL:

1. I have been in world over two years and have scarcely accomplished a blessed thing.

2. I am even more reclusive and have a harder time talking to people in world than I do in real life. I think it's because (most) everyone looks drop dead gorgeous. Also the chat interface has been hard for me to work properly.

3. I have never cybered and find the idea a little uncomfortable -- much to my own surprise!

RL:
1. I'm half-blind and will never be allowed to drive.
2. I can sing pretty well, and I do so pretty much every week at my local folk club. Definitely not shy about performing in public.
3. I'm transgendered, born female but now live as male 24/7

SL:
1. I'm less outgoing in SL than I am in RL
2. Besides my main avatar I have 3 other alts. One of them is older than my main.
3. I enjoy making things but I've no real desire to run a business in SL. It's too much like hard work. I'd rather earn money in RL and buy L$ on the Lindex, and just relax and have fun in SL.

Quite funny, let's participate :)

RL
1. In real life I live in a D/s relationship, while in SL I am not really interested in the BDSM community.
2. In real life I work as an IT consultant, and developer.
3. I actually live in a house, not in the basement of my parents (inside joke for the in-worlf Forum Cartel group).

SL
1. Even though I met some nice friends in SL, my main reason is my businesses.
2. The one time I wandered around in the naughty scene (when I started SL), I ended up in a gay sauna. Saw some device I clicked, answered yes to some box, and suddenly some dude was performing services to a part I clearly was missing (was fully dressed anyway).
3. Because I am mainly in SL for my business, I seldom spend money on my avatar. Though once every half year I go on a shopping spree, today is such a day! Already got the shoes, hair, and outfit, my (RL and SL) girlfriend goes skin shopping tonight.

This one is interesting to me because I am pretty much the same in RL as I am in SL.

RL
1. I have a career job in IS that I find boring, the days drag forever unless I am working on a new project. Because of job security, I will most likely never have a fun and exciting job or venture on my secret dream job. (Believe it or not... I would love to have a consignment shop in RL)

2. My close friends think that SL has made me reclusive which I never used to be...but I am addicted to SL and enjoy my time spent there. I love that even though I have never been the artist type in RL ...I feel like one when I create in SL.

3. I am blonde but highlight with a lot of red because I get tired of being steriotyped.

SL
1. I'm too trusting much of the time and find it hurts when people turn out to be different than what they seem. And I'm learning that my first instincts are usually right ..that I should follow them more often.

2. I love creating things for my stores but hate setting things up and organizing my stores. In RL I am the exact opposite...I try to be organized in all aspects of my life.

3. I love being a blonde in SL because I DO NOT get steriotyped:)

Given the possibility of global causality violation any RL information I reveal here may no longer be valid by the time you read it.

RL: In my new state of WA, I'm still getting used to green trees and grass that grows without watering, after living 25 years in the desert.

RL: I don't own a car. I use my motorcycle and mass transit for transportation.

RL: I own every season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

SL: I don't own a sex bed, sex poseballs, or sex animations. Never got around to it, I guess.

SL: I spend 90% of my time at my house or my workshop. The other 10% is shopping and random explorations.

SL: I don't own a single "white" (caucasian) skin. (I do own a few white Goth skins, but those are different) I don't own a single blonde hair, except for one that I bought to go with a golden skin, and is sort of gold-orange rather than blonde anyway.

RL:

1. I have suffered from kidney stones since age 20. It is genetic, with stress as a controlling factor. I suffer attacks, on the average, every six months. The milder occurrences merely put me out of work for a couple of days.

2. My kindergarten teacher instructed us daily that girls deserved recess, naps and snacks, questions answered in class and less homework because they were "better" than boys - and thus, as a boy, I didn't get such luxuries. She wasn't fired until near the end of the year.

3. I have an irrational distrust of dogs. I like dogs, don't get me wrong - but when one gets near me that's any larger than a puppy I grow fearful that it will bite me. Most dogs can sense how fearful I am, of course, so I avoid them whenever possible.

SL:

1. After spending a great many hours (read: months) at HIP on my alt, I am convinced I was the last new resident who bothered learning how to customize my clothes and hair, how to attach and detach objects on different points of the avatar mesh, and how to manipulate objects in simple ways via the Edit menu before entering the mainland.

2. I am one of the rare, lucky residents who has found true RL love in SL.

3. I used to have a skybox above an island sim. I discovered that I could cam down from a height of 300m and observe the doings of other residents inside their homes. One evening I observed a pair of comely ladies engaged in lovemaking, and decided to utilize an unused poseball on the edge of the bed to invite myself in. While one of the women was rather excited at the prospect of a stranger suddenly joining them in the fun, the house owner was nonplussed and allowed the house security system to do it's job. I did enjoy 30 seconds of stimulating conversation, however. :)

Ok....this is kind of cool....cause lets face it, we're real people here, and personally, I love reading this cause it brings out the sap in me and makes want to hug you guys LOL :o

RL Severe depression runs in my family (mom) and I've battled it all my life but since I am also stubborn like my dad was...I do NOT acknowledge it or seek any kind of help. I refuse to ever put the poeple I love thru what we went thru as kids.

RL Two years ago I was diagnosed with Alopecia and lost my hair in big round patches for a scary 4 months.....then as soon as my BF came back from Iraq for my birthday, it started to grow back. I haven't lost again like that since.... but apparently there is always the possibility.

RL I'm pretty much a loner, but I also absolutely love people. I'm very outgoing and assertive when I need to be..... but I am so used to loneliness that I actually am more comfortable & relaxed when I'm alone (or with my brother & sister)

SL I was a quick learner when I first joined and even tho I never wanted a relationship in SL....I got all the sex stuff and helped a lot of noobs learn how to have pixel sex LOL :o

SL I'm pretty much the same as I am IRL.....except the sex part....I got totally bored with that in SL very quickly.....very unlike my RL self. :p

SL Um..... I'm prone to shoppaholism which is one of the main reasons I got into making skins, cause I just can't AFFORD to get so excited about every new skin line and run out and buy my faves....

I wasn't going to answer this at first and frankly my life is pretty boring both inside and outside SL, *thankfully*, however, I do enjoy learning about the people that I'm friendly with, and those whom I've been reading about here for nearly the two years I've been inworld. I'm always bowled over when I find out details of your lives, both the interesting and banal aspect of it (and at times, emotionally touched as well) so what the heck, maybe someone might be interested in mine too:

In RL, I'm at a crossroads once again personally in a lot of ways. I'm at the tail end of getting divorced, recently unemployed and finally settled into a not-so-new anymore, but still new enough relationship. It's a lot to deal with, but luckily I'm not the type of person to freak out or get down about things so all in all life is pretty damn good. The divorce is nearly done with, I have work prospects on the horizon, money in my pocket, I'm happy at home with my honey. Yep, life is good!

In RL, I regret having dropped out of college. I'm the classic "under achiever" as all of my teachers loved to say. Brilliant, could have done anything but not particularly motivated. However, somehow I managed to keep "upgrading" myself, my career and life as time went by. I'm great at self-teaching myself what I need to know. There was this thing between my father and I, where I had once longingly dreamed of owning a Jaguar and my father made fun of me for even thinking of it. Well, he's been gone for several years, however, I actually do have one now and it amuses me to think what he would have thought had he been able to see me driving this car, all these years later :p

In RL, I coached people who had partners with sexual addictions. I found this work extremely rewarding and was involved in that community for several years. I nearly didn't accept this position, but the founder of the community pretty much hounded me until I said yes lol. The only reason I stopped was that they were going to start using Skype as a main source of communication for Coaching and I was having an issue with a partially paralyzed vocal cord which made it rather difficult to speak at that time.

In RL, I love to write and finally started a cooking blog - well more of an esoteric food blog, sort of. Whatever.

In SL, I'm pretty much just here to have a good time. I have no inclination to do anything other than be social although I do enjoy photography inworld and would like to work on that further. I need a better computer for that, my video card sucks - hopefully that will happens soon.

In SL, because of my coaching work mentioned above, when I discovered sex inworld (which took a surprisingly long time), I found it difficult to reconcile my intimate activities here. I felt somewhat hypocritical at first, and had to do a lot of soul searching for myself as to why I personally was engaging in these behaviors. However, once I thought about it enough, had my answers I was comfortable with what I discovered, I found it liberating personally, and realized there were aspects of about myself which had been dormant that I was able to then bring to the forefront in my RL.

In SL I found true love, which led to RL love. Contrary to popular belief the Llama and I do NOT engage in any kind of furry shenanigans :p

Interesting thread. I love this sort of thing.

RL: I worry about everything. If everything is perfect I will find something to worry about. If i struggle to find something to worry about then I feel really uncomfortable until I find something, yet I hate worrying and frequently tell everyone else that it is pointless. I have no idea why this is, but I've only noticed it in the last few years. And because of the worrying, I focus on something that isn't quite right and stick with it - no matter what else is going on or how big it is. If I'm not happy with it I'm sort of OCD in that I wont let it go until it's perfect.....then I move on to the next problem.

RL: I own every episode ever released of Friends on VHS. Even though I have these, I am sick of the programme being shown on TV and I haven't even opened any of the video boxes yet.

RL: I am constantly surprising myself. I find it hard to believe in myself, and am never happy with what I do. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to certain things and even though most people would be proud of themselves for making it to university after everything that's happened in the last few years, I still think I can do way better than I am doing. I frequently feel older than I am, and get disappointed that I haven't manged to do more than I have.

RL: Music is something I absolutely love. I've just started learning the flute again after a 6 year break, and I love it. No matter what mood I'm in, not matter what I'm doing, I always have music playing - even if it is just playing in my head. It soothes me and the only time I feel like everything is perfect is when I'm sat with my music playing and when I'm stuck in a good book.

------------------------------------------------

SL: I love to make stuff, but I'm never happy enough with anything to sell it. I find it hard to stick with anything until I know enough to use it. I tried scripting and gave up on it. Tried texturing and gave up on it. Tried building but gave up on it. I keep switching back to things I've given up on....maybe eventually I'll be able to put all the little bits together to make enough knowledge to use it. I have all these wonderful ideas but find it impossible to stick with it until I make that idea happen.

SL: I went away for a while last year, and since then I have found it hard to get settled back in. Just as I started to feel settled again, I had to disappear again. now I have to get settled again, and even though I feel like the cartel is a family to me, I'm struggling to settle again. I like to know whats happening, and my problem is that I miss so much I feel like I'm lost in the place that I feel most comfortable in SL.

SL: Sometimes I feel like my life in SL is better than my life in RL. I feel like I'm a better person in SL and that I have a better personality. I try to just be me, but I have more confidence in SL and because of that, I feel like I can be me in SL - in a way I cant be in RL.

SL: Even though I have a love of music in RL, I've tried live music events in SL and didn't stick with them (again). I loved listening to the music and the singing, but didn't entirely enjoy the experience of the lag and the gestures and the time most of the events were at bad times for me in RL.

I've played the Piano since I was 10, and along with Education also have a degree in Music History.

I played Volleyball and Basketball in College, and had a chance at going to the Naval Academy until I injured my knee in a game.

I've nerver tried an illegal drug in my entire life, including pot.

SL and the forums ae 99% of my computer time. Before I joined, I rarely spent an hour a day online.

RL:
1) Yes, I am as good looking in RL as I am in SL.
2) I have been threatened with arrest many times. But my only arrest was for public drunk. I was also charged with puking in the back of the patrol car.
3) I used to work as a salesman for Nabisco. My last job before I had to take disability.
SL:
1) I used to run some alts, but not any more.
2) Before Feline, I was a serial womanizer and a gypsy in regards to land. I can't count the number of land plots I have owned, built a house on, then sold.
3) I used to own a dance/strip club that played Euro dance music.

Well I have been around for a wee while now but haven't really contributed much to the forums, but I am an avid reader of them. It's lovely to hear some of your experiences and I figured it's only fair to share some of mine lol.

1) In RL I was born in Scotland but grew up in South Africa, moving back to Scotland when I was 16.

2) I was involved with the Boy Scouts in one form or another for 15 years.

3) I own every episode of Buffy the vampire slayer and Angel on VHS ( oh the shame).

1) In SL I have a small number of fantastic friends, whom I cant imagine being without now

2) I am not computer savy at all and have only managed to make a wonky table and a couple of rugs, but I'm still quite proud of them lol.

3) I am a lot more confident in SL than I am in RL, due partly to the anonymity, however I am still painfully shy and will very rarely initiate a conversation.

I don't know why I'm feeling confessional, but I will give you three. Only three. Total. Okay I'll give you a bonus RL one. I'm a generous doggie.

1. My first SL avatar was a human, and she had cybersex a few times! I, Puppet, would never do that though. It just seems wrong. I like my innocence.
2. At one point I tried being a baby land baron! It was too stressful and it didn't take.
3. I killed that first avatar dead long ago. It was for the best. It's the only time I've ever killed anyone.

Bonus: In RL, I am really a human! I know, it's tough to believe. But I'm all dog at heart.

sure, I'm bored

1) I've spent time with two different people in SL before meeting them in RL, I later lived with briefly.
2) Back in the day I cosysop'ed a pirate board.
3) I started SL to hang out with someone else.

Interesting thread.
1. RL - I have tried almost every recreational drug. The only one I really liked was marijuana and I used that a lot for a long time then just naturally tapered off and now its been about 20 years since the last time. I still see it as something that was entirely beneficial to me.

2. RL - I don't seem to have enough time to spend with all my rl loved ones.

3. SL - So in world I'm more about business than socializing.

Simple Rules:

2) One confession must be about SL

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) I am more comfortable in my wolf avatar than any other.

2) I have gained 20 pounds in 2 years and I blame it on SL.. and my lack of motivation to excercise as I used to...

3) I have a large tattoo of a dragon -tarot deck empress and 2 page of cups- below waistline to mid back on my RL self.... In honor of my children.. You would have to see these cards to get it... I plan on having a dragonfly also, but am afraid of the pain...(first one took 4 hours)

4)I support my habit (SL) by selling vintage jewelry and clothes I'm to fat for on ebay!

5) Kiefer Southerland I have had a crush on since Lost boys... and have seen every movie he has made...

- RL: I never tried any illegal drugs either. But i had a lot of fun with people who did..

- SL: Business has started getting on the way of some of the things I enjoy in SL.. like socializing and exploring.

- SL/RL: I need to find a routine that lets me exercise more in RL. I'll blame SL and not my inherent laziness.. :)

RL1: I avoid people like the plague when I'm not at work.
RL2: I don't have a driver's license and see no need to get one.
RL3: When people at work trust me to do stuff I always wonder what the hell is wrong with them as I tend to feel convinced I'm not really good at anything.
SL1: I have way too much fun creating and putting together new alts. I never interract with people who know "one of me" without letting them know who I am tho.
SL2: One of my av's (this one) is a boy because I never got to be one in RL.
SL3: I met someone in SL I care more about than anyone I ever met in RL (outside of immediate family).

I went to Catholic school so anything even vaguely smelling of confession is v v exciting to me!

RL.1. Commitment is my kryptonite. The longest I've ever stayed in a relationship or held a job is 4 years. Weirdly, I had no idea I had a problem until I had a kid and realized that I wasn't going to be able to just move on when things got boring or hard.

RL.2. I was at a workshop this weekend about using social networking sites for political organizing and I totally denounced SL as a useful tool for those purposes. I said it was because I think the barriers to participation are too great and the learning curve is too steep, but really it's because the thought of running into my colleagues in SL creeps me the fuck out.

RL.3. People often think I'm 5-10 years younger than I really am. It creates an awkward situation when people think I'm super accomplished "for my age" and then I have to tell them I'm pushing 40, not 30.

SL.1. My commitment-phobia carries over into SL and when I find myself hanging out with someone a lot, or getting too friendly and intimate, I tend to pull back.

SL.2. I have a male alt and I am incredibly shy when I'm out in the world as him. I'm pretty sassy and outgoing normally, but I second-guess everything and I'm always afraid my sassiness will come across as jerkiness coming from a guy. It's given me a feeling of empathy for men I didn't have before, even if it is based on something that may not be real.

SL.3. I've had the most fun in SL the few times I've let my 6 year old look over my shoulder and tell me what to do. Mostly she wants me to go up to people and say stupid and embarrassing things (which I don't do) (much) or try on different outfits.
