Make sure you update your soundcard and videocard drivers. That way you can rule out incompatible outdated drivers being the cause of crashes.
Voice chat is working here and there, but crashing quite often.
Sculpt prims are great so far, works even with megaprims, but be careful, sculpt prims can ballon up a 10m cube to twice it's own size. It's stable so far when I'm by myself with voice chat turned off.

Theres a known issue with flexible prims, this seems to be causing both the crashes and graphical glitches.

From: someone * Alt-Left and Alt-Right switch between tabs in IM Bad bad bad. It seems to me that the interface is being modified to make it easier for the Linden staff, such as liaisons, or perhaps just one particular smooth-talking staff member, to manipulate lots of windows and deal with a large number of conversations with users and co-workers.

I look like Salvador Dali did a remake on my av, a black spiky angular blob with impressionistic pink hairbows. I didn't check my vid setting as I kept crashing.
Let me see if it does it again...

Flexi hunh? Well, my ears and hairbows are flexi, but that doesn't explain why my body is now a spiky ball.
Camera is messed up also.

Pink hairbows might be nice.
How do we make or get a sculpty?

Same way you make anything. Create a box, then choose sculptured at the bottom rather than a box or ring or whatever.
Object > Building Block Type

Ouch. Crash city.
To desktop on logging.
Edit: I'm still a spiky blob and consistently crashing.

Object > Building Block Type That's not actually how people make everything. Some folks make spheres by clicking on the sphere icon and then clicking inworld, for example. Plus you don't make trees or grass by making a box and changing the type in the dropdown type list. There is no sculpty icon. Now, once you get your box changed into a sculpty, how do you apply a texture that does something other than make a weird shape or crash SL? I have the crash SL part downpat already.

No sculpty icon, correct. You choose whatever prim you like then in Objects you open the type drop down. Sculptured is at the bottom of the list.

Hi I've just posted an update for the pc client as of Friday 11:30pm PDT, which is just a fix for a crash and graphic issues with flexiprims, It is labeled as the same 1.16.0.0 so when it asks to overwrite, agree, it can be downloaded from http://secondlife.com/community/preview.phpMilo.

I'm getting reports of people still crashing from flexiprims, although I haven't crashed yet.
I do still have the prim-rays shooting out of flexiprims and possible other things.
Well, I just crashed while typing this, although I don't know why.
I wonder if there are Linden programmers working this weekend online in the beta grid.

I was just on beta a little bit ago, made an apple and did a bit of voice chatting.
Overall I feel this update is absolutely useless. Well, worth than useless, since you cannot go more than 5 minutes without a crash to desktop, and until someone makes a Blender plugin or a plugin for modelling software that is less than $500USD I couldn't care less about sculpted prims.
My opinion will do a complete 180 once sculpted prims become a possibility and accessible to me without constant crashing, but until then I've seen all I need to see on this new Beta.

It might be logical to have a be able to try the optional viewer, which I suppose would make it Fist Look material, since that's exactly what First Look is for, testing client only modifications. The upcoming optional viewer update is Second Life 1.15.1, according to the blog post about the 1.6 beta. from blog post: From: someone Second Life 1.15.1 will be an Optional Viewer release next week. Many of the fixes listed below which are going into Beta can be released as part of an optional viewer, and we plan to do so as soon as testing has been completed.

Dear Milo: I hope I'm not out of line here, but I really dislike updates that aren't labled as such. Is there a sensible reason for making bug fixes, then uploading as the same 1.16.0.0, as opposed to, say, 1.16.0.1? I was crashing left and right, and without a message of a newer client, I'm not likely to upgrade seeing the client version the same. Thanks, Stimpy From: Milo Linden Hi I've just posted an update for the pc client as of Friday 11:30pm PDT, which is just a fix for a crash and graphic issues with flexiprims, It is labeled as the same 1.16.0.0 so when it asks to overwrite, agree, it can be downloaded from http://secondlife.com/community/preview.phpMilo.
