Tried to log in this morning. Site said Log In failed, I have to go to account and answer security question. I go to site, am already logged in there, I go to my account: dont see where my security question would be. Reset password? I try and it says iI have invalid password. Look all over my Account for place where I can answer security question...search for where that might be....find Cancel Account. I AM SO TEMPTED! Why does SL make everything so damn hard: hard to find answers to simple things! I dont have time for this!!!!!

yeah- I'm stuck this morning, too... I got the reset password message, came to the site, but it was my alt, not my main that was signed in.
when I try to sign in under my main name, I'm told that account doesn't exist. I work here as a sub-contract builder- it's a real job. Not being able to sign in this morning is like having to find a way to tell my boss I'm stuck in traffic... actually, since I don't exist- It's like I finally get to call in dead. sigh... |

haha. seeyah! nah just kidding. when you egt the login fail message it gives you a link. USE IT! ![]() Well, I didn't get a link and I can't login. If the concurrent users number is correct, a lot of people are locked out--a little over 4,000 people online. |

Now everyone is logged out. Grid went down, without a warning. Just when I was working on a script of course, without having saved anything.

Try the reset password url above. It had several security questions and fortunately one of them worked for me. |

logged in finally
06-05-2007 05:16
I logged out of my account on this website, and thankfully, when I went to log in I got the security question. Was able to log in, change password, and go in world. Yes, I figured it out on my own, but jeepers, wouldnt you think Linden Labs would realize "oh, we are asking people to answer a security question, shouldnt be tell them where that will come up?" Also, there was no explantion on the blog and I didnt get any emails warning me this would happen.

The entire grid seems screwed up this morning.
I have related Avs in th esame location and they can't "see" each other! They even show each other as "not on line". Sigh |

It's not just SL. Several other sites I frequent are having issues today.

I am locked out too - it won't accept my password. I followed the link, which doesn't work, and when I went to my password page it said my current password was invalid so it is a stone wall. I have never changed my pwd and I didn't have caps lock on or anything silly like that!
The number of residents online looked low (10,000) a few minutes ago so it seems a lot of us have this problem. What we need is for our current passwords to be re-activated, otherwise we'll be adrift and locked out and that will be the end of SL. None of us want that! |

Try the reset password url above. It had several security questions and fortunately one of them worked for me. when you egt the login fail message it gives you a link. USE IT! That's fine if you can get past having your current password rejected as invalid. The link won't work either. I am upset rather than angry. It doesn't bother me particularly that I can't log in right now - we're used to that sort of thing - it's the worry that I might never get back to SL. Anyway, if we are unhappy I should think there are people at LL who are tearing their hair out at the moment. Spare a thought for them too. |

It's pretty nerve wracking when it's things like passwords not working. Then you read some of these forum blogs about privacy, security, turning in folks for doing the big nasty, conversations about LL turning to big business customers and ignoring everyone else, whatever else. I think the Lindens really need to come out and address things openly here on the website and let people know what's really going on, in plain speaking, because a lot of folks are concerned.

Perhaps they are curing the problem in stages, say alphabetically or something.

It did this to me twice...once last night and again this morning. Logging out of the site and then using the 'Forgot Password' link worked both times for me. It generates an instructional email with a link back to your security questions on the site; answer only one by selecting the radio button on the left, and you should be allowed to enter a new password.
The link they give you with the viewer error message does nothing in this case. _____________________

Er, I got the message, went to secondlife.com/password, got an email reminder for resetting, reset it with exactly the same password and could log in no problem.
I verified with entering three friends' first names. |

Everyone who has used the support portal has had their password reset.
To be safe, it's probably best not to reset it back to your old password. |

I'm saved too - I took the 'forgot password' route and managed to create a new password and it got me back in-world.
It's not too difficult - I was so worried, now I am so relieved! Thanks to those who posted info on this process. |

Hmmm, odd...I'd swear that link took me here when I tried it earlier: https://www.secondlife.com/account/password.php But I do see the correct page to reset when I click it now...maybe I just wasn't entirely awake then. lol _____________________
