I am looking around for elevators to ride in all throughout second life. If you are someone who owns an elevator and will allow me to ride them, please feel free to let me know. It dosen't matter what brand of elevator you have as well. I know about the elevators at some of the stores already.

Holy embarrassed! Sorry, I have no idea why I read that as escalators when you asked for elevators.

Okay, I'll wade in.
I've scripted a few elevators, if by "elevators" you mean physical contraptions that you walk into and do *not* sit, and that move between levels. The good thing about elevators is that they feel more "natural" somehow because you don't have to "sit" on them, and move multiple people at the same time. The bad part is that the physical motion makes your avatar move as if you were trying to walk. They can be arbitrarily complicated in terms of control, with actual "elevator logic" about stopping at different floors to let passengers on or off, but I've always thought this was overkill: when do we have such crowds trying to move to different destinations all at the same time? Most of mine have just two destinations, so they just close doors and shuttle back and forth between them on touch. Some have three or four, so they pop up a blue dialog to choose which other floor they should go to. Anybody on an intermediate floor who calls the elevator is just out of luck until it gets to its current destination, so: no "elevator logic." |

It should come as no surprise that some people get high on elevators.

I know the ones I've ridden it yes I've had the avatar move like it's walking and I got no problem with that at all. I'm looking more so for Union Micro elevators (either GEN1 or GEN2) or SD Elevators. I happen to own a UM elevator myself but don't own a building to install it in so every now and then, I use it as a dummy elevator outside my home or build it at a sandbox. I'm also looking for a way to record movies with sound too so I can do elevator videos as well.

Hmm, could one override the walk animation while riding elevators?
Establish an "I'm an elevator" protocol, wear an attachment that accepts it, it redefines the walk animation for the duration of the elevator ride. _____________________

My treehouse by Tobias Novi has a very cool elevator made of wood and rope and pulleys, which creaks when it goes up and down.

My knees creak when I go up and down. I don't like it one bit. My neck even creaks when I move it around. Creaking is overrated.

It dosen't matter what brand of elevator you have as well. I know about the elevators at some of the stores already. Look in my classifieds/picks, go to the Demo Rezzer and rez Dyata Paniki Chameleon - it is a 10 story office building with 3 elevators. 2 run from the ground to the 6th floor and then 1 runs from the 6th to the 10th floor. They are non-physical elevators by my design - "An advanced integrated self-configuring elevator system gives the real-life effect to enjoy an elevator ride to the various floors. Indicator panel lights indicate elevator's current floor." Have fun! _____________________

Can't help with the UM or SD elevators, but in case anyone else is reading and hasn't found a physical elevator to try, there's a three-level version in my demo Zindrapod at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Laffoon/234/145/2121, and a two-level underwater one off my private dock at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Myron/227/136/21. (Disclosure: the former is part of a product I sell; the second is just for silliness.)

Hey there Ceka:
Thank you for letting me go out there to visit and ride the elevator. I did have a blast riding that thing and yeah it sure seems like every apartment is armed with their security systems. Unfortunately didn't get to record it since I still don't know how to do so yet. |

"Dinosaurs Park" has good elevators. There are fully functional ones in the main buildings, and "broken" (jerkily functional) ones in the buildings that have been damaged in an attempted outbreak.

I have what I think is a rather unique elevator on the deaf/disabled sim of Cape Able. It was created especially for us, because so many of our group are wheelchair users. (It's an identity thing for some that are chair users in RL). They prefer to also use chairs in SL, and there were no elevators we could find that did not eject you out of the chair on arrival to your floor. We have a big art gallery (only 2 floors but big build) that has a big winding staircase, and we needed to make it accessible to wheelchair users. So we found someone that built us this special made elevator that lets you remain seated and doesn't eject from the chair on arrival, and leave you standing up. (again, not much of a ride, is only 2 floors but you are welcome to visit.) It's pretty, too.

I don't have elevators. If you did, it wouldn't go all the way to the top anyway. _____________________

Just met Mitchell on Cape Able, I left him riding the elevator. He's so cute, like a kid playing on elevators.
