There's no way anyone can take your fun away. As far as your comments about history, maybe you're going a bit overboard there comparing that to Nekos.
People can think what they want and they do. If we...er..they don't like Nekos then they don't it's their opinion. Nothing anyone can really do about that. Just like people who don't like certain groups, it's their opinion. Right or wrong it's their right to think as they want.
Now, you go knock yourself out having fun. Heh heh! It must look like I popped a vein or something...It sure looked like it to me after I calmed down and read my own post...OMG! It is true to a certain extent...there is an underlying resentment or something towards Nekos and furies and non anthropomorphic avies. I am not sure where it started as I have been in SL just under 2 years (not all of it as Gustav) but it could have started by a single incident and spread by word of mouth (maybe from within the Gor community, maybe not...we may never know) But I am a Neko not to look sexy, or to look grunge, nor to look like a drug sub culture (I am 49 years old, so why the Neco thing?) I think maybe I identify with the independence they carry with them, and I always loved cats, my pet of choice is a seal point Himalayan. I am the reason Claire got into Neko, I didn’t even twist her arm, and she just fell in love with it all by her self. There IS a certain appeal or (repulsion) to the Neko culture. I am still learning about it as we speak. I know Japan is where it started yet there are certain things about the Japanese culture I do not like, yet I LOVE the Japanese people! I am learning as much about different cultures as I can, and SL is a good place to learn as any, maybe a great place to learn. So I am going to leave my post unedited so everyone can see just how I felt for a moment of anger (mind you it was a brief moment)...Thanks Ricardo for pointing that out to me...point taken...I think I will mosey on now...and go find some fun...I may even dance with a certain sexy Neko gal!

There are some who do not want to let it go, and leave the Nekos to their freedom...I thing FREEDOM is the reason why Neko's are really disliked, Neko's are a free race.
I too have walked into a shop, to shop unmolested and get heckled incessantly about being Neko...WTF!!! I feel like telling them to piss off but that would only add fuel to their hate. You were heckled because in japanese slang NEKO is an insult directed towards the gay communnity and a particularly vulgar one. Even if those laughing at you are NOT hmomphobes, then they are laughing at you because you are na new sler (NOOB) who have adopted a garb out of inexperience, ignorance etc... ain't no male nekos son! Nekosume means CAT GIRL, Nekomimi (catears literally ) in reference to Nekos refers again only to GIRLS! Now you can run around calling uyourself a Neko if you like, if it entertains ya, but dont get all snitty should you BECOME the entertainment!
