Just saw on BBC News 24 that a Jesuit group is encouraging it's members to log in to SL as virtual missionaries. What do you think? I'm offering L$50 to the missionary who can bring in the first virtual conversion (proof required - snapshot and chatlog). Go to it guys.

My one and only encounter with "religion" in Second Life was an older looking, handsome avatar dressed in a robe.. we had a brief chat and when he went on his way, he simply said "May the most high avatar bless you". I very much hope that is the extent of my religious encounters here.

Nothing new, there are numerous religious groups in SL now. We have virtual churches holding RL services here on Sunday mornings. Why should religion be the one part of real life open to ridicule here in SL? Just goes to show that even some of the most open minded residents still hold onto prejudices and bigotry.

Maybe this explains the guy who floated over to me while I was shopping earlier today and declared "I AM GOD. I HAVE A MISSION FOR U."
And I always thought Jesus would know enough to turn off the caps lock. |

Well having met a few of the christian missionary types in sl I found him to be fine he was new like others and I see no reason to be mean to them? I met this guy while shopping for a new skin and he wanted to fix up his avatar appropriately. I had a few items that I thought he might be able to use and showed him a place to get cheap but decent skins and explained what he should get and he went onto my friends list and life carried on as usual. I guess I dont understand ah well such is life  |
