I'm staying out of the market until things quiet down. Too hard to predict how LL may release all those new sims which still haven't found their way to the auction block... What's your take on the current situation Stephen?

Opportunity for large gains... And also large losses if you predict incorrectly where the market is going

From: Reece Gunawan I'm staying out of the market until things quiet down. Too hard to predict how LL may release all those new sims which still haven't found their way to the auction block... What's your take on the current situation Stephen? Zee Lindens recent blog post says about doubling the rate land is released - at first I thought, what, 8 every 2 days is exactly the same as 4 a day. But then, if you add up what's happened recently we had 40 on Thursday, 8 on Sunday, 7 on Tuesday and 8 on Wednesday - 63 in total across 8 days, or approx 8 a day. Given what we've seen today, I think we can assume it's going to be at that rate for a while. It might be a little lumpy - 10 one day, none the next, 14 the day after for example, but I think it's a safe figure to use. I think also, given what has been said by several Lindens now, that they expect prices to fall to about half what they were recently - if they don't drop that far, they might increase the rate further. If it drops too far, they might throttle it back a little - they're obviously in a position to do this now the problems with the Texas datacenter are fixed (for some definition of "fixed" I also expect in the short term that people will keep auction prices roughly where they are, slowly dropping off - the amount of waterfront coming up soon will confuse matters more for people who aren't paying attention in the auctions when comparing prices.

Thanks for the reply Stephen. I always appreciate hearing your view You always justify your reasoning which is a welcomed change from the replies I normally receive. I think you present a valid point about the new land up for auction. I had a look at it yesterday and needless to say, it's much higher quality than we've been used to seeing lately on the auction block. It will definitely be interesting to see how many of the bidders on the 'regular' sims will be 'new barons' versus the names we're used to seeing in the bidding wars will be taking part in these auctions. You presented an interesting fact on Zee Linden also. Many of us (myself included) viewed the recent sim auctions as being a 'let-down' from what LL said about 8/day however if we factor in the 40 released that one day, it's interesting to see that they're releasing them at roughly exactly 8/day suggesting this is a calculated crash.
