If gas hits $4 this summer, will you cut back on SL?

Aw hell no I won't cut back on Second Life, it pays my gas bill :) Come to think of it, Second Life pays my internet bill too.

No impact. My SL time pays for itself, with profits from my in-world businesses covering all my expenses for being here. Higher priced gas just means I'm less likely to be driving somewhere and more likely to stay at home and play SL, or to work on making more stuff to sell in SL, so I can pay for my RL gas with the profits!

Heh. I replied before I read Ceera's response, and I think she put it much better than I did.

Glad to see no one responding here will be leaving SL or cutting back. But I just realized the folks that surf this forum are already firmly entrenched in SL and there is not much that would get them to quit. It's all the thousands we never talk to or hear from that will be going bye bye and never upgrading to premium.

I will play more Sl, since I won't have any money to go anywhere, so travel through SL instead of RL.

I WANT TP'S IN RL. :(

If you have a gas guzzler, why not switch to an economical diesel engined car and halve your fuel bill (at least).

Diesel is just as expensive as regular gas here, sometimes a bit more.
Besides I like my gas guzzler.... :p

Actually there are probably a whole bunch of things that would make me quit...just not the one you mentioned.
:p

I hope it hits $5 per gallon. We are spoiled little babies in this country and need to wake up to the rest of the world.

No, the oil companies need to wake up and stop being the greedy, price gouging, so and so's that they are. There is no real reason for gas to be that expensive in this country. But the oilmen, in conjucntion with our honorable public servants, make sure we are dependent on high risk foreign sources of oil, and have purposely not increased refinery capacity in the last 20 years to keep prices up. In my opinion....

But I do agree we are a spoiled lot here in Disneyland.

We have already cut back driving to the bare minimum, but we are stuck with a minivan to transport my electric wheelchair. So when we do go somewhere, it costs. :( On the other hand, I can take my chair on the bus to get around town so I don't need a car for everyday errands. We live near enough my husband's work that he could walk or get a bike if he had to. But he has arthritis too, so I hope it doesn't come to that. I won't lose SL entirely unless it gets so bad we have to give up broadband, but I may need to sell my land and go back to a basic account. Our natural gas and electric bills have doubled, and that's hurting us much worse than gasoline right now. The extras are going one by one, and cable tv and broadband internet will hit the chopping block sooner or later if things keep going the way they are. So I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Because the auto makers here in the US (the Americans and Japanese) will not make them. Only VW makes a diesel car priced low enough for the average American. The rest are in high-end cars, or big heavy duty pickups. Jeep did have a diesel version of their small suv, but they killed that model.

Well...considering the car i drive gets a whopping 8 miles a gallon, will it effect me...no, I already have accepted that it costs alot to drive my car. But I don't have far to drive each day to work so it's all good.

I understand where he's coming from though, US dependancy is way outta control, some feel a reality check is in order, of course no one really hopes for it.

It's cheaper to stay home and be in SL than it is to go out and drive around.

Where are you vacationing this year? Online. :-/ Beats road trips.
