If gas hits $4 this summer, will you cut back on SL?

If the experts are right, gas will cost $4 in the US this summer.

Will this impact your spending in SL? Entertainment is the first thing to go when money gets tight.

Personally, I am selling all my vehicles at a yard sale except my hang glider.

4 a gallon? I'd love to pay that lol

Here in australia where I live petrol prices are at $1.29 per litre

1 gallon is approx just over 4 litres.

So we pay approx $5.13 per gallon :)

No problem to me at all.......

I have a company lease car. The gass is on account of the company....
*flips up the card she can use at the gass stations*

Wouldn't it be the opposite where people stay home playing SL instead of going out for entertainment? I suppose some people will just go back to basic accounts but they can still continue playing.

Gas better not get that high... I think I will look into mass transit.

True, but $5.13 in AUD is only $4.10 USD. So while we still pay more than they do, it's not quite by that much. ;-)

You have a good point, though. It's hardly a serious crisis, seeing as we've been paying that much over here for years now, and it just isn't a big expense.

Petrol in the UK is average $2 USD a litre so a gallon equates to roughly $9 USD so yes please if we only have to pay that little and if it happens it will impact on my SL as i will have more to spend lol

90+p per litre for unleaded, and a US gallon is only 3.785 litres not 4.545 as in the UK.

So it's about $1.80 per litre, or $6.80 per US gallon. Even at $2 per litre (I don't have a Ferrari so I don't use that expensive stuff) it's "only" $7.57 per US gallon. Barg!

Heh! I have no worries.... ok, not much. I drive a 4 cylinder Chevy Cavalier, work about 3-4 miles from home, drive about 45 minutes to get to my classes, and go about 370 miles before I need a fill up. So it's about a week & 1/2 before I need to get gas. Neener Neener Neener!!:p

No, I won't cut back, but as has been pointed out, it may increase my use of SL as entertainment to curtail going out. My costs are covered in SL through November (premium+tier) so unless I go on a land buying spree, I'm all set. This wasn't done in anticipation, I just happened to have enough linden to sell to make it that way.

Plus in November, I'll get my bonus and will be able to cover premium for another year and pay for gas through the winter.

That and I drive a Corrolla, +/- 30 MPG, and plan on switching to the train soon. El Hubbo will then switch out the guzzler (i.e. F150) for the Corrolla and save probably $150 per month in gas at a minimum. (We both drive about 50 miles per day round trip for work, plus any errands we might do.)

I am dubious of these so called "Experts". I don't see it going that high, at least not here. If it does, it won't affect my SL time. I don't HAVE to spend money here, beyond my $10 Premium. More likely the fact that it is Summer, (and Baseball Season) will affect it. I will have other things to occupy my free times besides sitting in front of my Computer.

*shrugs* Won't affect my SL time anyways.. unless I *gasp* get a job. SL is a hobby that is now supporting itself for me, so it's not taking out of the household funds, (so I am the only one in the household with a self-supporting hobby...)

No impact. My SL time pays for itself, with profits from my in-world businesses covering all my expenses for being here. Higher priced gas just means I'm less likely to be driving somewhere and more likely to stay at home and play SL, or to work on making more stuff to sell in SL, so I can pay for my RL gas with the profits!

If you have a gas guzzler, why not switch to an economical diesel engined car and halve your fuel bill (at least).
