My friend is about to propose to his future intended and asked me where the best place in SL would be to do it and if there was indeed a traditional place or custom in SL re. marriage proposals.
Not having a clue myself I thought I would throw it out to the community for your suggestions. I believe he is asking her this weekend so any submissions after that date will be too late.
Many thx in advance.

No traditional places for that, but lots of nice, romantic settings. Personally, I like Midnight Reflections (though I haven't proposed to anybody there ). Last, but not least, I wish your friend the best of luck!!

I recommend the Bridge to Nowhere on Apollo. Stunning views with lots of incredible sights. AND, if you set it up in advance with the owner (Dane Zander), you can get some extra touches as well.

Somebody started a thread a couple of weeks ago on the most beautiful places in SL. Damned if I can find it now but you might want to search that out and forward it to your friend. And likewise, best of luck to him and her.

Inside the top of the Venice Campanile on Dragon island at sunset. View cant be beat and there is a nice set of kiss balls up there. If the are invisible just click the tower so they appear. Catch it on the hour to get the chimes as well.

From: Colette Meiji a good place would be where they had their first date. Unless that place happens to be Orientation Island.

Most of the places mentioned so far are very popular and very public. Being popular and public, has two inherent disadvantages, lack of privacy, and lag. If you want a truly romantic location, try IMing Noriko Tamura, who has the most beautiful sim in SL, but closed to the public. It is called Hoini, and the Scheherazade Gardens are the most romantic spot in SL, bar none!
Tell her what you want to do, and she will put you and your girl on the access list. You will have an entire 1001 Arabian Nights style Castle, floating up at 700m, with the most beautiful gardens imaginable, and with all the right romantic poseballs, and with no possibility of being disturbed. Then fly on the Magic Carpet down to the Shahryar Pavillions at the edge of the desert by the sea with its enchanting lagoon, an incredible sight, then dine, dance, and find one of the many hidden alcoves with romantic poseballs in them to finish off a perfect evening.
Not much, I know, but it's the best I could think of.

You could take her to see the Man Against Eternity Tour. Six galleries of deep quatrains, and art from dreams, at various locations around the mainland.
The Man Against Eternity Tour The Impossible Walk Gallery The Underwater Gallery The Art Gallery Shaped Like a Woman Newest Paintings Added Here Gallery The Deep Art Deep Gallery
Each filled with deep quatrains, and paintings from dreams, and a place for two to sit at each gallery.
But end the tour with the The Deep Art Deep Gallery, which is the quietest and the largest gallery, being 80 meters deep behind the Barton dam, with 12 randomly scattered sofas in the darkness and 115 paintings overhead frozen in time.
