Well, I haven't rezzed anything, but yesterday, I bought textures, and their files magically dissapeared from inventory..

Yes it's happening to me on no copy items -- won't rezz and then disappear from inventory after relogging. Pretty poor show, to be honest.

I've reproduced this a few times without fail: Rez a no copy object in any situation that causes a normal rez failure (not enough prims available, or just keep rezzing it on a megaprim till it says "Attempt to place object failed" . The item should reappear in your inventory like normal, but if you rez it again under any conditions it will say "Attempt to rez an object failed." If you relog it will disappear from your inventory.I haven't heard of this happening before and I can't find anything on the forums mentioning it earlier than July 27th so I think it is a new issue. It's not a random database quirk, it's an easily reproducible bug. Have you reported that on JIRA, with the steps to reproduce it? if yes, can you tell us the issue number so we can vote on it? |

Why do we need to create a JIRA for a black hole that is sucking our items (and thus our money) out of our pockets?
It's an outrage that LL is not doing more to fix or warn us about this. I feel bad for content creators with poor sales and angry customers. I feel bad for all of us losing things we paid for. It's enough to make me never want to rez another no copy object again. Hey LL: Fix it already!! _____________________

A customer complained today that she was unable to rez a no-copy item. I sent her a replacement, which didn't work as well. I had her tp over and try to rez it in my sim. Failed too. I gave her a slightly modified version which she was able to rez, but in her home sim it failed as well. I ended up having to refund her, didn't see another option.
This is already the second case. People desperately wanting to use my products and unable to rez them. Don't know what to do about that. I can hardly say "wait a few days until LL cleaned up and try again". _____________________

I lost an outfit that I tried to rez to unpack just a bit ago. Received the unable to rez object message. I'm losing my patience with their issues.

I lost a pair of eyes (they came boxed) and a hair demo last night. Not terribly expensive but frustrating still.
And today I went thru my texture organizers (they're copy fortunately) and removed a pile of 'missing image' textures. I was noticing that all the missing textures were ones that I had uploaded and decided not to use for whatever reason. I know it's silly but I sometimes get the feeling LL is trying to take the load off their asset server by deleting things they think no one is going to miss. At least in the cases where the things just disappear from your inventory anyway. I know this isn't true but sometimes it does feel that way. |

Ok, went to the JIRA site. They seem to be aware of this issue and have listed as a "blocker" which is even higher than critical. And yet it's been a month and has not been fixed. WTF? To quote a poster there:
"This ticket has been open since July 1st in critical status, and nothing has been done on this?" It seems as if they are failing us in fixing the fail to rez issue. This is truly scary. http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1476 _____________________

Tongue in cheek, but still cynical: I think LL is trying to drive it's content creators and customers away by making everything in-world so it either doesn't work at all or just barely works. All in the name of "New Features". (And they don' work either!)
Gettin' a little tired of this loosin' stuff and nothin' works *stuff*. ![]() Tonight I was hoping to complete a build I started 2 weeks ago and now I'm afraid to touch anything - rez, move inventory, etc. Last night I tried a preliminary test of what I was working on, and I couldn't even give it an object name, let alone take or copy it back to inventory. I logged out and back in and magically - it disappeared - like magic! I guess tonight is going to be another repeat of the same ol' show. _____________________

A big shout-out to Jake Cellardoor for quickly and happily replacing my hummingbirds that got lost to the bug last night. His hummingbirds and frogs are must haves for every avatar. (Just dont rez them until the bug is fixed).

Good grief, I cant help but shake my head at the thread and people thinking this is new. I have personally posted about this and related issues for a couple of months now and STILL am waiting for some sort of reply from LL on it. Experiences posted here and many more that are 'item lost from database' related are purely being ignored. Oh, they are doing things to make sure it doesnt happen in the *future*, they say...but NO one is going to get back the hundreds of thousands of items that have been lost since a certain update was released. If I had the time I would search out the blog post on it, maybe someone else has it...but this isnt just affecting inventories...this is going to affect content creators as a whole because WHO in their right mind would keep shopping when items just randomly go missing? I dont have the time or funds to just keep tossing $ into the trash and will more than likely be selling my last sim soon to wash my hands of the mess LL has made with this issue.
I keep hoping, by some miracle, that LL will get it fixed and I might get back my inventory (over 200kL worth of items gathered over the last year and a half, I might add) but...well, I'm not holding my breath at least. ![]() _____________________

I filed a support ticket for this last night, including full details about time the loss occured, in which sim, observed problems etc and got a prompt response seeking further information this afternoon.
While i'm still at work and unable to log in, I am wondering the following of those who have experienced similar item loss: 1) Did you clear your cache and try to reload your items after noticing the lost inventory? 2) Do you run SL on more than one machine in your network at a time? 3) Do you use a wireless network? _____________________

I have personally posted about this and related issues for a couple of months now and STILL am waiting for some sort of reply from LL on it. Yes, inventory loss is an unfortunately common occurance... however, in the last week, it's become epidemic. Also, despite what they say on the blog, it's NOT just on land where you can't rez an object; the no-copy objects I've lost (close to a dozen now) have all been attempted rezzes on land I own, where there are plenty of prims free ( almost 4,000 available at this juncture). If ANY attempt to rez a no-copy item fails... and they seem to be failing fairly frequently now... no matter WHERE you tried it, it's mostly likely gone. Period! |

If ANY attempt to rez a no-copy item fails... and they seem to be failing fairly frequently now... no matter WHERE you tried it, it's mostly likely gone. Period! I had attempted to rez things on my own sim (2k in prims left) on other land I owned, land I didnt own, linden land...I wandered all over. So yep, this is a HUGE problem that started a while back and while LL didnt respond to it and even residents didnt think it was a big deal...my thread got burried pretty fast and almost ignored save for a couple of people...it now becomes bigger and bigger as it starts to affect people. Its been weeks since I have attempted to rez anything for fear of losing it. You just cant enjoy SL this way so its more than likely why I and many others I know have taken a break from world just hoping...HOPING...it gets fixed. It is also the reason many people have stopped shopping...LL NEEDS to get on the ball with this or risk ticking off thousands of people that arent made of money to replace the items that keep poofing away. Yea I know I sound fussy on the subject, thats not aimed at anyone here, just the situation...as I have lost over 2000 storage boxes with clothing inside them, furniture, houses, the list goes on and I would never be able to compile one to send to LL as these were, as I said, storage. *shrugs* I gave up on that stuff a long time ago and will not risk losing anything else until this is fixed. Just watch, as it gets bigger more and more people will come in upset and what will be done? Lets all guess! ![]() _____________________

Sorry to hear about all the recent "no copy" inventory losses here. I too have been a victim of this issue. Not only is it bad for us consumers, but it is also bad for the vendors.
[sarcasm]But hold on I have good news ... there is a new feature in SL called Voice that every one, I repeat everyone on the grid is dying for. It is the only thing that matters to the Lindens any more. Everything else is secondary. After all who cares about secure commerce, who cares about losing items we bought, who cares about the reputation of the vendors or the hassles they must go through to satisfy their customers, who cares about being able to search for new vendors and new places to explore and who cares about being able to TP to where the vendors sell their stuff. The only thing that matters any more is that we have voice. Hold on, not even voice is reliable since it was rushed into production. [/sarcasm] |

we have voice? Good , so I can SCREAM!!! I WANT REZ MY THINGS ON MY LAND....( I couldn't yesterday....)
from the blog.... If you rez, drag from inventory on the floor or ground, a no-copy object on land that is not owned by you or a group you belong to and have no rights to create objects, the object will disappear from inventory and not show up in-world. You will see an error message saying ‘Failure to create object.’ This also applies to parcel(s) which are owned by you and are almost full. We are currently testing a fix to resolve the issue please resolve the issue up there, it was MY LAND! ![]() |
