Still losing items?

Be warned... twice now I've gotten the "attempt to place an object failed" message on a no-copy object, and another attempt with the same object got the "attempt to rez an object failed", meaning even though it's still listed in your inventory, it's gone from the database. Things are still NOT safe to rez/work...

Anyone else notice this?

Unfortunately, yes. Relogged several times--two of the three items showed in my inventory on the first relog, then vanished again on the second one, haven't come back yet. I've given up on buying anything for a while...

Yes, I lost a box of animations this way, 2 days ago.

I noticed today a couple of "Storage" boxes that I had used to store a couple hundred items each, probably 1500 objects total, are now missing from my inventory. I dunno when they vanished but it was around the time of the rolling restart a few days ago, that I took them out of my house into my inventory.

Nothing I can't live without, I don't think. Mostly freebie clothes/skins/hair etc.

This is gettting to be a week of Hell for me. Lost two Amethyst collars so far since this whole thing with the dataserver started. Is it any wonder that merchants are now only selling No Transfer items; because SL has a bed reputation of being unreliable when it comes to the data..be it items, avatars, or even land.

Fortunately the things that were no-copy that I lost, I had more than one of... but still...

Yeah, I lost 3 things today, including a gift from 2004 which is irreplaceable. Seems to happen when the rez fails normally the first try (out of prims or rezzing on megaprims). Future attempts always fail with "attempt to rez an object failed", and if you relog its gone forever. Really sucks.

Even though my land allows anyones objects to enter, I keep having things returned. The strange part is that these items don't actually belong to me. Once they are in my inventory, they say I am the owner and my friend the creator, but I have never owned them. If I try to rez them, they disappear immediately and I can't attach them to myself because it's multiple objects packed into one.

I had this happen to me a few days ago too. Thankfully it was just a "near freebie". (It actually cost 1 L$)

Are you also getting returned to you lots of unmatched single socks and pen caps without the pens? And are you missing a lot of wire clothehangers?

Yes the inventory loss is still going , more so than ever, i just lost a pixletrix file cabinet with about 30k worth of prefabs in it, did i clear my cache and try and log back in ? yes i did about 6 times, did i file a support ticket or bug report no i didnt , why do you ask its bull S--t ,im still wating on news of bug reports and support tickets i have filed months ago on lost inventory, does LL care no they dont, i have left being a SL Mentor and SL live helper as of 30 minutes ago , i will not tell people oh do this and file this when its a pure waste of time for lost inventory as NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING will ever be done about it. in the past 3 days inventory loss has costed me over 60k wort of items , why play a game when you cant rez or do anyting in it? someone tell me please id sure like to know

If you read the blogs, LL says not to rez no copy items when there's db issues... even if there's not a blog post, if there's db issues dont rez no copy items, or build anything you plan to keep, as you may loose it.

With ya. I have lost the same item twice and I really don't want to ask the merchent for yet another copy. I figure I'm just out 100L and just wont buy anything any more, don't have Ls to waist.
So in other words I'm not buying anything till the problem is solved. Maybe if everyone else did the same thing, the problem would be solved sooner.

Well that would work for me to not rez anything if i actually rezed this last disappearing item with the prefabs, this happend to have been a pixel trix file cabinet which is kept in world, i was moving it over just a tad bit and rotating it 90 degrees it moved just fine rotated just fine , then all of a sudden snaped back to where it was , before i moved it , and then a blue message at the bottom of the screen appeared , unable to create in world inventory creation or something like that and poof it was gone , so its not just effecting rezing items from your inventory its effecting iems that are all ready rezed as well. NOTHING IS SAFE RIGHT NOW NOTHING

well if the last item i actually lost was rezed from my inventory. this last instance however was not , it was a pixel trix file cabinet that is like an inventory storgae thing and it is kept in world, not in actual inventory , i was simply moving it 1.000 degree or position cords what ever you wanna call it and rotating it 90 degrees , it moved just fine rotated just fine then all of a sudden snapped back to where it was before i attempted to move it, got the little blue linden box at the bottom of the screen about in world creation failing and poof it was gone, clear cache relog not there , rinse and repeat 6x still not there so yeah NOTHING IN SL IS SAFE NOTHING AT ALL BEWARE , but remember having voice is more important in SL then getting this inventory loss bug fixed that has been around for months and months and months

I am sorry but telling us not to rez no copy items is just not enough... This problem has been going on for a long time, it just gets worse at times... It should have been fixed a long time ago... If this was happening at the company where I work, if when you tried to pull a document from the database and it failed and then was lost forever.. How long do you think the IT folks would keep their jobs when the said "Oh just don't open any documents for the next week or two. We might get around to fixing that little problem someday"... About 2 seconds is how long...

Am in the same boat as Manstan and others having also had probs with rezzing new items. They wouldn't materialise at all yesterday. Now the replacement for one of them, kindly given to me by the seller, has disappeared altogether from inv and I daren't try the other. This is a real pain - when is it going to be safe to buy or rez anything??

I haven't seen any warnings, except from checking on here. Where was this warning given? I doubt most people are aware their bought and paid for inventory items are so vulnerable until it happens.

I had an object sent back to my Lost & Found directory (or so it said), but it never appeared in my lost and found directory. Did a search for the object and its not in my inventory.

I've reproduced this a few times without fail:

Rez a no copy object in any situation that causes a normal rez failure (not enough prims available, or just keep rezzing it on a megaprim till it says "Attempt to place object failed". The item should reappear in your inventory like normal, but if you rez it again under any conditions it will say "Attempt to rez an object failed." If you relog it will disappear from your inventory.

I haven't heard of this happening before and I can't find anything on the forums mentioning it earlier than July 27th so I think it is a new issue. It's not a random database quirk, it's an easily reproducible bug.

That is exactly what happened to me yesterday, in very detail.

well now it seems as an outfit i bought eailer and was wearing before i loged is no longer in data base, logged back in after frustrations were calmed down a bit only to log in nekid, look in inventory and the outfit ihad on when loged out is there but i am not wearing it, go to put the outfit back on and it says no longer in data base , so beware this issue is getting worse and worse as the days go by, i was a SL mentor and live help until last night when i left both. clearing your cache however many times and loggin in and out will not help if it does you are one of the very very very few rare occasions where that did in fact work.how i long for the old days of SL it was never like this almost 2 years ago , SL was fun and non stressful , heck i think SL is more stressful then RL now

This just happened to me as well at 1:10PM PDT on Wednesday the first of August 2007... still not fixed... bah, I lost a nice item while the blog said the slowdowns where resolved...

It firmed up my decision to sell only no-transfer items. I'm willing to give transfer/n-copy but only with the understanding that you're taking a risk and I won't replace it. =/

The server's just aren't reliable enough anymore to sell no-copy items unless you're willing to roll the dice.
