hehe..well I could say I would cash it in, but if I had 50k I would probably go on a mad spending spree for more clothes and new hair styles.
The first thing I did in s/l when I had a little money was go out and hit the malls and buy clothes and then I would see another wonderful outfit I wanted and that had to go on my to buy list as well so I now have a huge to buy list and so if you just want to send me the 50K i`ll have no trouble finding something to use it for *grins*
I just wish clothes in the r/l worked out as the same price as they do in s/l, now that really would be cool.

I have now had an opportunity to actually face this situation. Through a series of happy chance meetings and lucky arrangements, I have come into something of an income in terms of SL. it certainly hasn't been easy, and it takes many hours of dedicated WORK every day.. but it did happen..
Last month I made 55,000 L$.
I cashed it out, and paid my overdue real-life rent for November. (about $185 USD). In the event that I continue to be presented with this situation, I will continue to cash it out.
I have seriously considered what, in world, I would do with amounts of money like this, instead of cashing it out.. but as a builder.. there's just not much I NEED to buy anymore.

Some thoughts: But, it really depends on What YOU Want Back from SL

So, FD, you seem to be trying to decide on a direction. Sounds to me like you want to do something that will be longer term. That leverages your creative interests.
So, if you want to make money over time: 1. open a mall, find retailers and sell them space. and Advertise the hell out of it to attract better retailers and higher rents. 2. learn to script/build/design well. Invest in the tools you want to make this go faster/better a. Create your own line of clothes/accessories/houses/furniture, whatever. Rent mall space and sell. b. Rent your time out to others as a custom scripter/builder/designer, etc. Make examples of your skills and put them on your First Land so others can come see before they hire you. 3. Become a Land Baron. Sounds like you already know what makes land valuable or not. Start with your L$50k and buy 5 parcels and then resell them. Rinse. Repeat. 4. Become a DJ. There's a shortage of good DJ's in SL. And the good ones can make reasonable tips.
Then again, if you want to have fun, but maybe not make money: 1. Open an art gallery. Build a theatre. (Just saw a posting from someone building a comedy club). Build a Monument! 2. Spend time with one of the societies in SL. There are strong groups of Elves, and Vampires, Furries, etc. You'll need Lindens to outfit yourself. 3. use your money to establish a SL charity organization. I know one person who provides a small Linden allowance to every lost noobie that finds him. Many people (me included) help fund his charity. 4. Open a dance club. Glamorous? sure! Management challenges? Yes! Gonna make money? Probably not!
