Good morning. :)
Another three man breakaway at the beginning of stage 9 of le Tour de France. This time when the breakaway group go their lead up to 15 minutes it was the team of Euskaltel-Euskadi who brought their riders up to lead the chase. This is a Spanish team from the Basque region of Spain, specializing in climbing. And today was the first of the big mountain stages entering the Pyrenees and Basque country.

It was a 224km (139 miles) course with seven climbs including two huge category 1 climbs at the end. It was a day of some riders riding ahead from the front and while others were falling away off the back.

Just before the summit of the last climb Italy's Riccardo Ricco of the Saunier-Duval team, working alone, caught and left behind the last survivor of the original breakaway and managed to maintain a lead of over one minute to win his second stage of this year's tour. Ricco's time was 5hours 39min. 28Sec.

Kim Kirchen remains the Tour's overall leader and has also moved back into first place in the the sprinter's points competition.

Also of note: American Christian Vandevelde of team U.S. Team Garmin-Chipotle has moved into third place int the overall competition. This is his tenth Tour de France but his first as his team's protected rider.

YAY for Christian Vandevelde. :D

sounds like the Europeans are taking this this all the way. WOW! is there more? i think i would like to try to tune in tomorrow. what channel network/time?

I completely agree. I should be. I should also be a dashingly-handsome multimillionaire playboy with a yacht and my own island in the Carribean. Unfortunately, the gap between what should be the case and what actually is the case often resembles the Grand Canyon.
.
had you been the former, i would be stalking you now. so see? there are benefits to being average. :p

If anyone likes Adored Clothing, she has moved a bunch of her older stuff to a new L$1 store. A landmark will not TP you directly there, but go to the main store at: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Alhena/111/23/24 and then turn left and look for a sign on the wall that says "Short on Cash? touch this sign to teleport to the Adored 1L store"

she has a rental spot in my mall. :D

but ooH! thanks. i love her stuff!!!

Maureen, so glad you made it out of the garage! What a pain... that will teach you to go to work on Sunday! ;)

I've been having fun with houseguests, it's really taking a toll on my SL... :) My teenage niece is visiting and my sister is here for the weekend, and spilling over to Monday. She had a wedding to go to in town, so the niece and i were the designated dog sitters. It's actually been lots of fun. Today we went to the mall, it's been a long time since i went shopping with a teenager!

Anyway, hi to all the Threadies... and yes, Brann we are still at it. Welcome back.

Hi Allie! Well, fortunately, I was able to stay in my office until the repair guy came to fix the garage door. But still!! Being at work on a Sunday, and then being "held hostage" there...well, that's just wrong!! :p

Glad your weekend guests didn't drive you over the edge, and I give you major snaps for heading to the mall with your teenager niece! I bet you now have an entirely different perspective on the mall experience. :)

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

It's on Versus and if you are going to try watching it, tomorrow will be a great day with two (2) beyond category climbs. Here's the schedule the times are EDT so you have to convert to you own time zone.

JEZUZ!!!

Would you all believe the cops stopped me again? Light was out on the licence plate, which WILL be replaced, so I do thank them for that.

2:20 AM or there about. Again with the "I smell alcohol" and "I suspect narcotics" stuff. Do the DUI test, blow in the meter. I failed the DUI Test just because of nerves (heh- sorry, cops can be intimidating). The meter was fine.

I told the fiancee THIS is the reason I dont like to be out driving at that time- when the bars are closing.

So the next time she asks me "Why dont we go anywhere?" NOW I have a solid reason.

Gotta love small towns :p

**EDIT**

And yes- I just about sh*t my pants. Cops are not big on believing in weird Geeks and their stories- like spending an hour talking to a total stranger about RPGs :o

Can I just say how impossibly tedious an 8 hour wait for a flight connection is?

I'm also going to be a blatant narcissist and wish myself a belated (7 July) Happy 2nd Rez Day. Completely slipped my mind.

Happy 2nd Rez Day Max!!! :D

Sorry to hear about the delay. I know just how annoying even waiting for someone as they depart is, so I can just imagine how annoying an 8 hr delay is.

2 things I try to avoid: Hospital waiting rooms & airports. ;)

I heard that Miss Venezuela won the Miss Universe pagent last night. In addition to pulling for Miss USA I was really pulling for Miss New Zealand to win. With all those females it is difficult to make a choice. No I didn't watch it on TV. :-) My judgement was made simply by looking at photos of all contestants.

Welcome back, Max, and belated felicitations on your rez day!

Eight hours is a long time to wait for just about anything, anywhere. However, having to cool one's heels at an airport, at the conclusion of one's holiday? Slow, painful, torture. Terrible way to re-enter reality.

/me starts the pre-holiday chanting now, hoping to appease the Vacation Fates...

Yes, I see from my extensive catching-up session this morning that you head off on vacation tomorrow. Lucky thing!

18 day vacations are too damn short, incidentally.

Nice cake!

too true Maureen....I got delayed both ways...neither as long as that, but the way there no one cared...everyone was looking forward to it. but on the way back, all the kids were crying....and all the adults were grumpy as hell.
Made a huge contrast lol.

50 minutes....just write a load of crappola on the forums for a bit. I do it all the time when I have to waste time until my lunch break at work lol.
well, I either do that or annoy people by forgetting I have them on hold :S oops

that reminds me....
