Morning Claire -
Hope you feel better soon. As far as allergies go- it doesn't matter how long you have been allergy free once get you.

I do not mean to be pessimistic but I was not allergic to anything at all til i had my son - now i get allergy attacks that turn into asthma :(and as far as the doggie component.. I had one that was nearly my death- I could not be anywhere near him! Now I have two and one of them sleeps on my head everynight  (he thinks he's a parrot- weird little dog)

My brother is a doctor. He spent twenty years telling me my hay fever was a psychosomatic response to examinations. Then he developed very bad late onset sensitivity to tree pollen in his thirties.

Pep (No, I have not been very sympathetic, but you wouldn't expect me to be would you? :D )

oh ouch Claire, it's true. I grew up with all sorts of types of animals and never had any allergies. A few years ago, all of a sudden there was a certain tree was in bloom and I ran into trouble. My doctor handed me an inhaler and said it wasn't asthma but allergies are the other end of that spectrum. I asked if once the trees quit flowering everything else would stop bothering me (scented laundry detergents, dust, ash, the dogs, the rabbits' hay etc) and she said these things usually get worse with age and to try to cut out as many irritants as possible.

I don't use the inhaler anymore and get by with the odd antihistimine, but it is definitely allergies. I've got it narrowed down to the causes, which helps a lot.

PS any more LOLCATs here and I'll be tempted to put up a photo of a cat that had a VERY bad day - and that will ruin Friday for someone.

*sigh*

Are we really going to start this again, Pep?

I don't know. Are "we"? It's not *me* restarting it if you look carefully. Perhaps you should be directing your post in a more appropriate fashion.

Pep (*sighs even louder*)

I directed my comment appropriately. I am not referring to LOLcats, but to your retaliatory threat which has yet to come to fruition. Perhaps that is why I elected to use the phrase "going to start", not "have started", if you look carefully.

Yeah... I looked real cool right up until I impaled my leg with the axe as seen in this picture. :p

eugh...what a day. I still feel like utter rubbish - no energy and blah blah...I just figured with a bit of rest I'll be fine.
Then one of my friends decides to tell me their mum has swine flu and that what I keep complaining of is exactly how she was....and that it is all over the area where I live.

So now I have to ring the doc's in the morning, with the possible outcome of me being told that yes it is swine flu - which means no partying this weekend, and my holiday I'd planned would have to be postponed. Not to mention the possibility of me having passed it on to mum - who is already ill and this could quite possibly put her in hospital.

I feel like crying :( though I might just about hold off until I speak to the doctor.

On the plus side, mum brought home a dog yesterday - a 3 year old black cocker spaniel called Ben. He's beautiful, and as soon as his cone collar thing comes off I'll be able to post a pic so you guys can awwww over him a bit :p

*hugs* I'm hoping as I try to catch up on the thread that you've posted a note after you went to the doc....but I hope you're feeling better, Claire.

Just checked in after a few days away to find out you're blogging? OMG! I'm going to check it out right now :) Hope you take a look at mine, feel free to toss me some recipes - the ones you've given me thus far have been winners (the pork with Guiness particularly).

Thanks for the info Skell, and for the well wishes everyone :)

I've just finished speaking to the doctor, and thankfully it was a false alarm. He said its a pretty bad cold, but not to worry about it. He's told me what to look out for with regards to swine flu, but that I should be clear in a few days.
So yey! My holiday is still go even if I do feel pretty awful. :D

I'm glad it's not the flu...glad you can still go on holiday...rest as much as you can before you leave! :)

Oh, and I meant to say "yay" on the doggie announcement in the earlier post, but I forgot. :o :p
