Today's Stage 3 of le Tour de France was a lot like yesterday's Stage 2. 196.5km (122 miles) from Marseille to La Grande-Motte and flat enough for the sprinters to keep up until the finish. Like yesterday, today a four man break-away got established right out of the gate attaining a lead of over 11 minutes for awhile. For most of the day Team Saxo Bank did the heavy work at the front of the pack, presumably to keep any of the riders in the lead group from taking the overall leader's Yellow Jersey from their man Fabian Cancellara. Which was a bit surprising considering that not only has Cancellara no chance of keeping the lead once they get to the mountain stages, but Cancellera's teammate, Andy Schleck, who is a serious contender to win the whole tour was not threatened by any of the breakaway guys. Not only that but tomorrow is a team time trial, which Saxo Bank have a good chance of doing well in – if they aren't too tired from today. The only other team with a real interest in chasing down the breakaway was Team Columbia High Road, who wanted to repeat yesterday's win by their sprinter Mark Cavendish. But they too have a good chance to do well in the team time trial tomorrow and were trying to rest up today. But evidently the teams of the other sprinters now feel that Cavendish is so unbeatable that they weren't willing to work to chase down the riders out in front. I should explain that drafting in the slipstream of another rider can save a cyclist up to 30% of expended energy. So the riders making the pace at the front are seriously working harder than those cruising along behind, especially on a day like today when wind was a factor. So eventually Team Columbia High Road came to the front and the breakaway was caught with 50km to go. Then the most exciting thing!!! At the moment of the catch a group of 27 riders were able to get out ahead of the main field. This group included THE WHOLE COLUMBIA HIGH ROAD SQUAD!!! So they did what they would have done if they were still with the main group. Some guys take turns at the front keeping up the pace while the rest ride in their slipstream until it's time to lead Cavendish out for the final sprint. 7 time Tour winner Lance Armstrong of Team Astana and his loyal lieutenants, Jaroslav Popovych and Haimar Zubeldia, made the split. Alberto Contador, the ostensible leader of Astana, did not. The teams of Armstrong and Cavendish began cooperating to gain as much time as possible, while Tour leader Fabian Cancellara who also got away with the new leaders, remained loyal to his Saxo Bank team-mates back in the main field, rested in the slipstream and gained the same time as the rest of the break. In the end it was another perfect sprint finish for Mark Cavendish, but without the usual numbers of competetors. He joked he was phoning it in as he crossed the line. Here's the new General Classification:

the most fantastical thing happened yesterday. i was trying to keep busy, so sat down to a movie. i love those medieval ones, cuz they always have great fighting scenes. anywho... this movie titled Reign of Fire came on. with dragons and weird shit in it. i didn't think i was going to be able to hang... even with Matthew McConaughey. well guess frikkin what? not named in the description, but DEFINITELY in and hawt as ever - guess who showed up to make my day? my lovely husband, Gerard Butler. he died. i got mad and turned off the tv then. i don't know the ending, and i don't care. anyone who would kill off my man is not worthy of my time. ha ha ha /me wuvs him

From: 3Ring Binder well, i'm keeping my caledon land. i just can't afford both. and, i'd rather pay Desmond than LL. i'm pissed at them for messing with my income. bastards! [RANT]Sorry but I cannot hold my tongue any longer, perhaps I would have if you weren't grumbling about it here as well as the other thread where you admitted again how you generated your income. 3Ring, you have many fine qualities that I adore but over this issue I am glad that LL put a stop to the way you and many others were taking advantage of the system for financial gain to the detriment of others. There were many times during my first year I had hardly a L$ to my name because I could not or would not bring L$ into SL, it didn't stop me wanting land and the other perks that doing that could bring but I understood it was my choice or just one of a million other things I could not have. I could have made an army of alts to scam the system to get the things I wanted too, but I didn't, because it is wrong to do so. Obviously you see it differently, I don't expect to change that but I have to say it really grates to see you complaining about LL for ending it. Changing the TOS to outlaw the manipulation of traffic is one of the better things they have done in recent times. [/RANT]

Okay I have come to terms with giving up my watery home at the end of this month. Though I did just find a very cheap 8192 I snagged up. So I'm happy. Will still miss my watery sim home though. Sigh.
