Speaking of kitties. Why the heck does my kitten lick me all the time?(Well when she is not attacking me,thinking I am her personal chew toy...)

I've read that the feel of you hand on them feels like a tongue, reminds them of their mother licking. Depending on the cat and cat personality, they lick to show affection. Or to say "get away, now, before I sink my teeth into . . you took too long" *sinks teeth into pinkie*

Do you think she licks me excessively because she didn't have her real mother for long?(She was only 2(maybe 3? cant remember) weeks old when I took her) It's like she is bathing me.:/

my oldest cat does this. it usually starts with my palms, so i think she is after the salts on my skin. but dang, sometimes it's like i'm being groomed. LOL

but also, all my kitties give me lovable kitty kisses. just the occasional little sweet licky here and there. i love that!

I've had to give a cat a daily pill before. That's challenging enough - I couldn't imagine a liquid. Good luck Lexxi! Let us all know that you survived the encounter!

Are you using a syringe? That might make it easier. One quick squirt and you're done.

I've had them lick my hand for several reasons. One was a kitten, so maybe it was the whole "mother" thing.

One was just after the salt on my skin.

My cat will lick my hands then rub her head on 'em. So I think she's just trying to clean herself.

Either way- I'm allergic to cats. My hands ITCH something fierce afterwards. But its all for the kittehs! :)

Heh my brother is allergic to cats as well,but he doesn't care. He loves the kitty and pets and holds her all the time. She is so cuddly,it's hard not to like her.:p(Except for when she is attacking me,not so cuddly then...)

I think he has a reputation to keep up- all those flowers kind of erode the whole POD thing at times.

And Hell is a busy place - the darn imps always underfoot - between that and the gardening, he just doesn't get much chance to excercise his evilness -I tell you, there is dust on the equipment in the dungeon!

I seem to be allergic to some, not to others. It's weird. My two sisters had (I'm using past tense because unfortunately both of them have lost kitties in recent years) cats and one of them had "sister cats"; both of which I had NO problem with at all - one a tabby, the other a calico.

The other sister, had this stunning, sleek, jet black cat who I couldn't go near without falling into sneezing fits and my eyes welling up with tears.

I used to have a cat years ago (a tabby) and never had an issue with her either. Most in general, don't seem to bother me.

Perhaps it was something about that one black cat - it's glossy, silky coat which caused me problems, I just don't know. Well, they do say black cats are bad luck - so I'll chalk it up to that :p
