It is called occi in Italian which - I think - means "eye" because of the shape of the shuttle that carries the thread. This is a small sample that I made myself :  i make hand-made lace in RL - i have done so with sewing thread and no. 14 and higher specialty crochet hooks, knitting needles and bobbins. I can only say I really know how in crochet and tat. I have a couple of tats but they don't look anything like that. Tasmanian Devel on my upper right arm and a half back one of a man on a horse kissing a lady over a dead dragon. The man is kissing the woman, BTW. He is not riding a horse that is kissing a lady. That would be silly |
