From: LittleMe Jewell I have actually come to enjoy the smaller quieter Christmas gatherings. My husband and I will do dinner and presents with my two children this evening - just the 4 of us and not a huge dinner, though hubby did go ahead and do a turkey on the smoker. Oh turkey on the smoker! Yummy. We have a large deck in our new apartment, but alas, no grill/smoker yet since we moved in November and it isn't like the stores were selling them this time of year by us (or at least, I haven't seen any, certainly not ON SALE!)

Sounds like my sort of Christmas, Elora. Max and I plan to do the same for New Year's. (HE will be doing the cooking, however Now that I can get out of my driveway, I'm having dinner this evening with friends (my poor sweet mother can't make the drive out here because of the weather so I'll be motherless this holiday!) and then a big Christmas morning present-opening bash and a breakfast to rival what Maureen tends to serve up, complete with Morning Glories. (While the gathering is large, there will be only ONE child - can you imagine the toy orgy? I can't wait to play with the new Wii) What's everyone else doing this holiday?

Pray tell, what is a Morning Glory? I'm Jewish, this is new to me. Drink? Prayer? Flowers for the table? And New Years sounds wonderful to me as you've planned. We're thinking of just staying home also. Maybe dinner out but just spending the rest of the evening at home If dinner in, I'll let Ghosty help - he actually knows his way around the kitchen fairly well - a novelty to me. No other man I've been with knew how to cook. So far, he's managed a very good lasagna, and killer strawberry shortcake without me even being in the house! And cleaned the kitchen to boot! ZOMG!

From: Brann Georgia What's everyone else doing this holiday? And for New Year's, the grocery store had those huge Alaskan King Crab legs on sale for $9.99 lb, so that is going to be dinner for hubby and I, followed by a quiet evening at home.

It's just going to be the three of us... and my daughter is getting an avalanche of gifts.
The dinner will be (mainly) lasagne -- done to my mother-in-law's recipe, which means layers of proscuitto, ragu, bechamel, and pasta. The cheese is melted into the bechamel.
Plus vegetables, salad, and a nice red wine. (Store-bought) pecan pie for dessert.
Not a groaning board, but way too much rich food anyway.
We were hoping to get one of my sisters over, along with bf or fiance as the case may be, but the weather and other entanglements nixed that.
So... wearing pajamas all day, opening packages, too many photos, playing board games and card games...
That's what we'll be up to.
Happy holidays to all of you, from the "MacMoragh" family.

From: Elora Lunasea Here is my schmaltzy seasonal good wishes to everyone Hope you all enjoy your holiday, whichever one it is you are celebrating. Thank you to each and everyone of you, for being part of my life - for brightening my days. This thread has become a part of my soul at this point and everyone who is here have touched me in one way or another (hey, get your dirty minds out of the gutter for one moment, ok?). Special thankies to Maureen, Rioko, Lindal, Madhu and Jezebel (who may never have posted here or perhaps once but I love like a sister) - all of whom have been there for me at one time or another when I needed them. Maureen particularly - how I wish we lived nearby, although I think it could be dangerous if we did Ghosty and I will be having a quiet little day at home since neither of us celebrate Christmas (Jewish/Hindu). Could have gone up to see his parental units, but didn't feel like making the 2-1/2 hour trek back and forth in one day this time (if we were lucky). So, I will make one of my awe-inspiring dinners for us with excellent wine for me, his favorite beer and call it a day of movies and cuddle time while we try and plan what the heck we're doing for New Years Merry merry everyone! Hugs and kisses all around! *smiles at Elora* Your day sounds perfect. (Heh..."parental units"..heh. I use that phrase all the time. ) I hope you and Ghosty have a wonderfully cozy day...today..tomorrow...every day!

Hah! I'll take self-affirmation wherever I can find it! (Actually this tiny little Norway sim is worth checking out for fun. Just wander away from the Ivalde shops to find it. Take that train up the mountain.)

'Rent' is actually called tier though. Edit: If you go to the Support page, click the Knowledge Base link, then look for the Land link on the left, it'll bring up an article titled 'Frequently Asked Questions from Beginning Landowners' which should answer most of your questions.

(Is anyone else experiencing loooonnng delays waiting to post?) Plans for the next few days: Today...pretty quiet. Wrapping the final few presents, gathering stuff (china, silver, an extra tablecloth, in addition to foodstuffs) to bring to my sister's house. This is the first time she and her husband have hosted the horde for Christmas, so she's a bit...on edge. I took her to Costco yesterday so she could pick up some stuff. Tonight: Midnight Mass...if I stay awake, that is! Tomorrow, a lazy morning...and then head over to my sister's to help out before chaos descends.
