Does anyone remember Tron? I think that was it with the black hole?

or I used to love the movie Flash Gordon.

Tron was one of the first movies using computer generated graphics.

Black Hole was a different movie.

I remember my dad taking me to see The Black Hole. It was the first Disney Movie not to have a G rating.

Oh geez. I went to this one with my dad, too.

I really am ancient.

It is an ancyent Marinere,
And he stoppeth one of three:
"By thy long grey beard and thy glittering eye
"Now wherefore stoppest me?

/me gently pats Claire on the head and smiles. That was actually a reference to Trout's favorite baseball team, the Seattle Mariners, but I don't expect you to know that. But it is a nice quote. :)

Sigh...rotten, damned Mariners. Can we PLEASE pick up a pitcher for the bullpen and maybe a few guys who know which end of the bat to hold? Please? Nobody pick on me for loving the Mariners. It's too painful right now. It hasn't been the same since Lou Pinella left. Hell, it hasn't been the same since I was a Lefebvre Believer.

There's always football. Shawn Alexander should be back in MVP form this year. Oh...wait...I forgot. Goddamn Seahawks.

At least we still have the Sonics.

(remembers the Sonics' situation and bursts into tears)

edit - I'm going to have to either talk to Isabeau and she if she can bring me up to speed on hockey, or PM Conan and see if he can find me a rugby team to root for. The primary USA sports keep letting me down. I'm outsourcing to Canada or the UK

I hear ya! My dad watched Hee Haw and Lawrence Welk. If I didn't sit through Lawrence Welk I was not allowed to watch The Wonderful World of Disney. Lawrence and that damn bubble machine!! grrrrr.

/me laughs...

My girlfriend's dad took us to Lawrence Welk once. We were just little girls and thought it was so cooool to go to the...I think it was the Hollywood Palladium, where they taped. We got all dressed up in our Sunday best, and he took turns dancing with us...

Still brings a smile to my face.

Now, I feel really ancient!

:)

Try football...or soccer or whatever you guys call it. Tns of teams to choose from, all equally competetive with the others, and all of the premiership boys are overpaid prima donnas....there are a few exceptions of course, but they are few and far between.

Bunch of litte scrawny guys zipping up and down a positively gargantuan field, rarely, if ever, actually scoring any points and pretending to get hurt every time they fall down? No thanks. Soccer/football makes me sleepy.

I remember Black Hole. Wasn't there an evil robot named Maximillian? He was red, or something.

It can't be as painful as being a Mets fan last September. I still haven't recovered from that.

Good morning all. :)

Gotta get moving but see you all later on.

Ah, c'mon. There's always the Red Sox. Or the Celtics. Or ... come to think of it .. the Patriots.

Oh, I love that dirty water ...

Too bad the city doesn't have a presidential candidate in the race this year ... it's the only thing that's bad about Mitt withdrawing. They ALMOST made the trifecta (World Series, Super Bowl, and Presidency) in 2004.
