Yep, after the Eastern continent was released at an insane pace, there is a new continent forming to the North of it. About 100 sims released, and with new terrain textures which look "tropical" or like "broccoli." To get there, just search for the sim "Jinx."

Wow...this has to bring prices down even lower than the 10L per sqm mark...at least for a while I'm guessing. Will be interesting to watch the market for the next few weeks.

I can't log in to find it right now, but went to the website to check the interactive map and found something else out.
My place is in Yongwang and immediately to the south the next sim is Mago. Mago on the map looks like the Mago from about a month ago, up until you get to the closest view (when the plus greys out) then you can see what it actually looks like today. Is it just me or is this fairly common? A _____________________

Is LL planning to dump the entire new continent all at once, unlike what they've been doing? Or do you think land values have been artificially propped up by the expectation that LL was going to stop auctioning new sims when the third continent was complete? I'm just wondering why people think new continent(s), rather than a factor of new residents and rate of release of new sims, will affect land prices. |

err they are flooding the market with new sims like they promised to drop the price of land i'm not sure what this argument of population is? especially when well they are flooding the market to drop the price of land they stated they were going to do it and now they are ?
so obviously they are going to exceed the demand for land by residents (by flooding the market with sims till the price drops) |

I'm just wondering why people think new continent(s), rather than a factor of new residents and rate of release of new sims, will affect land prices. I think history starts to lead people to believe things, dont you? What happened when the last continent came out, regardless of how fast it was put out to auction? I dont think many missed the change in land prices, and if they did they werent buying land or interested in it. The population continues to grow, but do premium accounts? (I doubt they are growing at a rate to be impressive at all as most people dont even see a need to go premium except to own land). With the release of the last 'new' continent we watched prices drop far enough that more people were able to buy up land to live and create on. Even though that continent isnt growing any futher, prices have remained 'lowish' compared to before it was created. Supply and demand in this case shouldnt be looked at based off the numbers of people signing up for SL. Just because someone signs up doesnt mean they are going to purchase land. If you havent done so already, check the box on your map that will show land for sale signs and zoom in fully. Ignoring 16qm and waisted for sale signs, there is still so much land for sale that you anyone buying land cannot really complain about lack of variety in size, location and desirability. Since there is so much to purchase, adding more could reduce the prices of what already exists as well as what is being added. I could very well be wrong in my way of thinking, but I'm guessing it will still bring land prices down again. |

And yet SL can barely support 36000 online at a time. Regardless of how many sims there are and new sign ups, I think that people are starting to get frustrated with the overload and the lag. What happens when the newbie can't ever log in????

Well 100 seems like a small drop and won't make stuff change either way. Enough sims for a week or so. They may drop a few more tomorrow, as they are fond of making new sims during updates to last until the next update.
I was watching sims ending today and noticed something very strange: a waterside sim named Marmalade was named Longcat yesterday. That means its name was changed in the middle of it being auctioned. Searching the world map for "Longcat" shows it named as such, but teleporting there shows the new name. What is going on? |

The oddest thing. SL resembles something decent when you go to this new continent and set the viewdistance to 512m.

I keep seeing that 40 sims or 100 sims or whatever large number of sims per week or whatever is a small amount , but the population doesn't all need 1 sim to themselves and many users dont even own land because they are not premiums. I have therefore decided that sims are consumable and people are eating them for breaky cause I see no other way that a handful of premium users is gonna use up all that land. So it has to be the musical land flipping thing or people are getting hungry and eating sims for breaky...

Even when land is cheap it won't sell because of how expensive tier fees are, and renting is always going to be more expensive again as the owner has to pay the tier fees anyway

Cause when I bought my land in my SIM I'm in I was one of the first there 1/8 of the SIM. Now the rest of the SIM is completely sold and resold many times and that was a month ago only. |

Depending on the size of the parcel, renting can be breakeven or better - because the prim allotment may be better with a rental than if you purchased mainland. And no membership fee to LL.

I just visited the new continent, very beautiful, lots of open water ![]() I was getting excited I could own a plot there in the near future until I bumped into someone on one of the sims. He told me he has placed a bid on all the sims up for auction and he's hoping to get at least 3-4 of them, when I asked him how much he's likely to sell the plots for, to my horror he replied L$25 per sq.meter ![]() No way I can afford that, for a 8,704 sq.meter plot I will have to pay L$217,600 ($761.08 USD). I guess I'll have to continue renting land for the time being ![]() |

If I was rich, I would try to get at least 4-6 adjacent sims, cover them with trees and rocks, put a few skyboxes out and rent those out dirt-cheap to builder-scripters. I would then roam the woods and hills and invite everyone else to do the same.
But alas, I am not rich. And it's a shame how fast pristine sims ars turned into an ugly, terraced mess just because people are too lazy to build on ground that's not perfectly flat. |

Land just up from mine was bought recently, it's hillside and someone immediately built a house sticking out into midair on one side. Why not buy flat land to do that? Or build a house that fits the landscape that you must have seen before you bought the land? |

I just bought in a nice hilly region and I'm stoked to build up the hills, and make it all pretty, beautiful and something everyone can enjoy. I just hope that the surrounding regions become inhabited by mindful people who appreciate uneven terrain! _____________________

That's when the BIG prims come out to play. I'd like to avoid using them, but will if I have to. I'm encouraged in that I bought a small piece of land in Black Art, started to develop (which isn't finished yet LOL) a Japanese themed tea house and garden which spawned some lovely land modifications around me by the neighbours. In fact, we worked together to continue a stream that started on my property and now it crosses two other properties on different sims at that! I realize I'm lucky, but I'd rather be hopeful with a back up plan for a worse case scenario. ![]() _____________________

the big toys are sure a way to make a statement
![]() used them to block a 40x40x40 prim with a counter 170x85m wall and stuck a 150 sphere into a neighbours house so they get bumped out for a minute or so after they placed a 40x40x60! prim hovering at 30m abouve ground, they got the clue that huge prims suck lol is there a chance i can come an d visit the stream? my neighbour wants to create one but has no idea on how to do it and my expiriments at it failed aswell, would love to give him a small pressent ![]() |
