* VWR-38: Magic Opening Folders

That was supposed to be fixed in this last update too.

Alt left and right arrows. Hmm.

I like it. That's how I've been switching between terminal windows in Konsole (KDE) for years. My immediate concern was that the camera rotation control shortcuts (the same keys) were being replaced but thankfully they're not. :)

Sure about that?

Also, where do you set the text style flag?

Also, people might want to install this new viewer in a separate folder than their current one, so they can try the new one and still have access to the old one if they don't like the new one.

yeah, child dialog windows (IM, inventory, etc.) stole focus and stopped the camera keys working anyway. You have to click on the main viewport to regain control. As for this...

...i'm still scratching my head. I've been through the preferences, all the debug options and searched the XML settings files. I can't find anything related to a text style flag.

We are having network problems now, that may be your trouble, unrelated to the optional viewer update.

If anyone has need of the "old" viewer install file, it is still available at
windows
http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-15-0-2%20Setup.exe

mac
http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/SecondLife_1_15_0_2.dmg

I don't know about the linux version.

When I said "we" I guess I shoulda said "they". :(

Here's a question about keeping the 1.15.0.2 installed in separate folder from 1.15.1.3.

Does that really work properly? I ran the uninstall in one folder, and it uninstalled the other folder.

I've got them both uninstalled now, I'll put them both back in and see how it works.

New optional viewer works fine for me. I downloaded it separate and then installed it.

As I suspected, trying to install the two versions into two separate folders doesn't work quite right.

It only creates one folder in the programs startup folder, named Second Life; the second install overwrites the first one. Not optimal.

So, one could install one version, change the name of the folder in the startup menu, then install the other.

Or just run them from the program folders.

It could be a command line parameter.

Does that really work properly? I ran the uninstall in one folder, and it uninstalled the other folder.
the uninstaller won't work properly due to a conflict. the installation directory of any main grid release is stored under the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Linden Research, Inc./SecondLife

right now on my PC, that's set to "C:\Program Files\SecondLife"

If you install a different (main grid) release to a different directory, that registry key will be overwritten with the new directory name, leaving you stuck with an uninstallable first version.

having said that, i suppose after uninstalling one SL installation, you could manually enter the directory name of the remaining installation into the above registry key, and the uninstaller should work successfully.

make sense? it's late here, so i'm probably sounding dimmer than ever. ;)

Perhaps Unrelated to the Viewer

Anyone experiencing difficulty doing estate bans with the optional update?

Since downloading it, myself and another estate manager cannot perform estate bans. We can search for the person's name, select ban and ban from all estates just fine, but their name does not show up on the list.

Perhaps a SL problem that's unrelated at the moment, but also the calling cards (when you go to find the person for the ban) are not coming up as well.

It would be nice if they'd try a hard outline around the text, like the hard shadow that was restored, but going uniformly around the letter, with no shadow added to the outline, and the space between the letters adjusted to keep the outlines from touching. This would allow the text to show up against all but the most perverse backgrounds.

Grr, land sales search is still broken. (Going on 3 weeks now.) You can't sort results for mainland sales by anything other than L$/sq.m.

I didn't load the new client last night due to the lateness of the hour. Any chance the new one returns us to the days before the group chat channel garbage,

Also:

* Trying to texture prims brings up an empty list of textures in the texture picker.

* The claimed fixing of the non vertically stretched textures in the texture previewer is fase, they still to not stretch vertically.

LL can't even get a simple bug fix client out with out royally screwing it up :( Will there EVER be any hope?!?!?

Not to worry - so far. The group IMs seem unaffected for now. [crosses fingers]

Texture views now retain their original proportion, and can't streach at all... For example, even though a snapshot is a square representation of a rectangular viewer window, you can no longer resize it vertically to restore the aspect ratio. You have to put it on a prim to view the original ratio now.

Texture and inventory searches also fail on exact word matches. Search for "Door" and you won't find any, even if you have lots of doors in inventory. You would, however, find "doormouse", or any word that starts with Door. Search for "Doo", and all the doors that it failed to find earlier pop right up. Lovely...
