Be polite. Wait for Gina, at least. Yeah, but she already made the assumption that I'm a non-believer simply because I mentioned that the J-man hasn't stopped by for tea lately...and Strife locked it before I could respond. *whine* Not that it didn't desperately need to be locked... _____________________

OK, back on topic...I was curious whether anything had changed with LL and my PayPal account, so I established a new Billing Agreement on one of the alts, which seemed to go just fine. Back to the SL site and what do I see?
An error occurred while processing your request: -The use of this PayPal account has been restricted. Still. ![]() _____________________

It seems to me from own experience that each Paypal account can be used in only one account. Back in March I had my main and alt with the same Paypal account, then I decided to change my main to a VISA just for one transaction. Then, when I tried to change my main back to Paypal, I got the "restricted Paypal" message. So only my alt is using Paypal now... sucks!

None of my avatars can use PayPal...all three get that message.
And I never changed my payment method until this happened; it was PayPal from August 2006 until mid-June 2007. _____________________

When a company gets to the position where they can no longer easily get money from their would-be customers, it is the End Times, lol.
Really, though. Makes me think the chaotic state of affairs inside LL (with no boss, and no managers - read the Tao of Linden on the blog) has reached critical mass. And just think of all the money we residents could be making selling our stuff if people could more easily buy money, as they are intended to! coco _____________________

I'm just going to start sending my payments directly to Linden. In cash. All pennies. I'm gonna send them an IOU first and then send them each penny separately. _____________________

Well, supposedly someone was assigned pretty quickly to my support ticket that was tagged as matching one of the five allowed questions. The earlier ticket is, as I had feared, being completely ignored, because I am not Premium, even though the earlier one is more accurately categorized, as a payment info issue.

I reopened mine and directed them to this thread...they keep sending me 'solutions' that solve nothing, and then closing it.

Well, "Switch" isn't right. It's all "Maestro" now. It used to be that your switch card (almost all banks) had your bank account number as the switch number, so it was obviously linked. Since chip and pin cards, they've had different numbers- I got stuck with Egg.com assuming that switch cards matched bank accounts.
Aaanyway. I think this whole situation can be blamed on the casinos. _____________________

I have my bank account, maestro and mastercard linked to paypal and I get the Restricted message.
According my paypal account the setting up of the agreement was successful* so why isn't it working? Noticed that the early agreements specified a preferred payment method - yet recent ones don't. * in fact i seem to have about 20+ agreements now for second life! |

no clue why, and yep when I filed they closed it with a solved but it was not solved... There's a button to reopen it, without having to re-enter all the info. I'm going to keep doing it until they solve the problem or tell me something useful. ![]() _____________________

I had the same problem 5 weeks ago. I called LL about it, and they said they were working on it. The reason I had to switch to PayPal was that my Debit Card company refused to pay LL because of reports of fraud. And now, PayPal won't work because of the dreaded "This account is restricted" clause.
I finally had to open a bank account, at a different bank...with a different card company. It works so far, we'll see how long it lasts. BTW, US resident. _____________________

I've been using a PayPal debit card, which looks like a Mastercard but links to PayPal rather than a bank account. So, the money is still theoretically coming from the same place, but hacking the card number from LL seems infinitely more likely than someone hacking PayPal, so I'm still not happy about the whole situation. *sigh*

I just checked, and sure enough the new alt that I created, in spite of showing on the website as having a Visa card on file, still showed in-world as "No Payment Info On File". Wasn't the dollar they charged my card and paid back to me supposed to have made that a "Payment Info on file" rating? So I clicked the little blue button in-world and had her buy a mere L$200, and that made her immediately "Payment Info Used". Lousy exchange rate, though. Cost me $1.06 USD for just L$200.
I also double checked my main, and after switching from PayPal to Visa, my main account did still show as "Payment Info Used", even though Ceera has never bought anything with the newly-entered VISA card. SO I did not *lose* my "Payment Info Used" status because of changing from PayPal to Visa. I'll have to check my other alts, and see if any of them are still showing as NPI, in spite of all having payment info in the LL data files. _____________________

The earlier ticket is, as I had feared, being completely ignored, because I am not Premium. Don't feel bad. I'm a premium, concierge member and they've ignored me too about these issues. |

It usually takes them a couple days to respond to my tickets (Premium) and with tomorrow being a holiday...well, who knows.

Oooo, helpful response!
Greetings! Thank you for contacting the Second Life Billing Support Team. I have added your name to a list of names that are recieving the paypal restricted error. Unfortunatlly, there is had not been a name removed from this list EVER. They are working on trying to find out what is causing it so they can fix it...we are not sure if it paypal or us. I have no time frame of when we will have a solution for you. Paypal is working now. You will have to use an alternative payment method in the meantime. Also, we do not charge you international fees that is the payment method, that you choose to use. I suggest finding one that doesn't charge you the fees. Regards ![]() _____________________
