Am I being paranoid but I got a shock last night? I was in my house, on a private island, entertaining a young lady when I was made aware of a person within a sort distance from me, (by use of the mini-map and the beacon tool). I cammed outside and saw a female whose profile told me she was German. Any attempt to talk to her was met with silence except when I asked if she spoke English, to which she said “no German” (in German). I then donned my Babbler and asked the questions again but still no answer. My computer froze then and I logged out and back in and she had gone. I did a search for her and sent her an IM via her profile, asking her to explain her actions and why she was on a private island, all in German via my babbler, but still no reply, even though it appeared she was on line. If she was innocently looking around why did she not answer? After reading the Blogg I hope I am not starting to see foreign reporters under the bed.

Just because a person is German and not responding to you doesn't mean they're a news reporter spying. If it truely were a private island, that person wouldn't be able to get there.
Furtermore, any news reporter's job is to get the full story, so they wouldn't want to refuse conversation.
(Whose to say that ageplay incodent the Germans caught on video wasn't staged to begin with? Isn't it convenient that the two accused were never asked questions and were banned from SL. Meanwhile no one knows who took the video. It seems to me to be a publicity stunt.)

I wouldn't b paranoid
I get tons of ppl coming to my island and sometimes they respond sometimes not - if someone is in IM or using camera the may not see a chat come past or they don't speak english or something
There's a plethora of reasons - I usually just leave them to it
Mind you yesterday I had a nude noob with a 3prim thing walk up to me bold as brass and say "Hey wanna suck my c--k?"

I agree. Lets not get overly paranoid...
And please let this also not turn into a "every German is a reporter after news". Most German people are very decent folks who are just enjoying SL as everyone of us.

Morwen. Channels John Cleese as Basil Fawlty :"Don't say anything to upset the Germans."

Don't mention the war.
I looked under my bed just to make sure; there was nothing there though.
This person might just have been suffering client-side lag. Sometimes, if I'm out-and-about in RL I might use my laptop on a wireless network and I often accidentally end up on private lands inexplicably (I was riding a horse near linden chalet and suddenly I found myself in a BDSM basement for no apparent reason yesterday!). SL is buggy as hell basically, and this person might have been there by accident and had too much lag to be able to respond properly.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

They sell WW2 German uniforms minus all the hate mongering insignias.

I think I know of this place if so their Mp-40 is made of fail. Mine is built to scale with actual reference material and has authentic poses and stuff.

Welcome to the new paranoia called Second Life. The implication of your post is that anyone who is German and/or a reporter is suspect. That's a rather offensive assumption on your part. You've managed to malign and offend two groups of people in a single post. BTW, there are a number of reporters in SL who *are NOT* German. That TV report could have just as easily been featured on CNN or any other tabloid TV news show (take your pick) in any country. Let's not create a lynch mod mentality against reporters and Germans.

I (and my Alt Ishtara who was recently banned from Resident Answers) happen to be german. In the name of all open-minded Germans who view avatars as mere costumes, I sincerely apologize for our partially theocratic government and our fascist media.
It's really embarrassing that we didn't manage to change altoo much since a Charly Chaplin lookalike ruled our country. We still have a tendency to outlaw free speech (points at the blasphemy paragraph in our constitutional law). There's even religious education in our public schools, and in Bavaria (kinda the german equivalent of Texas) you'll find a scantily dressed guy with a spanish first name nailed to a cross at every street corner. No wonder our moral views are a bit odd.
The sensationalist rag who started the whole shit is called AvaStar, a virtual... newspaper (doesn't really deserve the name) financed by the Axel Springer Verlag, infamous for their rag "Bild Zeitung". They always made a big deal of ageplay and other "scandals", which finally drew the knuckleheads from the ARD to SL. Now they have the cheek to IM sex shop owners and ask them for their opinion on the new age verification. Geez.
Can anyone get a list of people working as AvaStar reporters? I'd like to ban these goons from my property. They should be forced to wear the tag "Deutsche Sittenpolizei", as well as brown uniforms. Well, most of them seem to be on unverified accounts, so they should already be banned by my land settings.
