Tod69 was quite clearly being sarcastic, as was mentioned at the bottom of the post.

While we're on the subject - ban flying, that's what witches do. Evil, I tell ya.

This whole topic is silly. Actually, I find the whole idea of having sex of any kind in SL silly. It's not like you derive any actual physical pleasure from it unless you are sitting there....well.. I'll stop.

Actually, using animals as characters was a good way for storytellers to get ideas across *without* offending anyone.

Aesop's fables, anyone?

We really all need to keep some perspective. We are talking about logging in as furry creatures on the internet.

I'm not sure what is more funny, the serious concern over being able to do that, or the serious concern over what cartoon animals do.

Simulating child rape is sick and wrong. Simulating cartoon baby rabbit sex is just... too bizarre for words, with a strong dash of juvenile humour thrown in.

* * * * *

He was a tortoise. She was a hare.

Society, their families, even the gods were against them....

Can these starcrossed lovers ever last? Will love be enough?

Will you carry a pitchfork or torch to their secret love burrow?

Or will you help them escape into the forest?

Meanwhile...

"Why are you so slow at housework, Mortimer? LOOK at this place!"

"Flopsy, we need to talk about your hopping around with other guys..."

Look, in the real world, sex with both children and animals is taboo, illegal, and almost universally considered obscene.

In the real world, furry sex consists of two adult humans in animal costumes...no actual animals are involved. Real world sex with a child is sex with a child. You're comparing apples and oranges.

Now hopefully the child avs involved in sexual ageplay on SL are all adults, but without universal account verification, we have no guarantee of that. I don't understand the appeal of such RPing in any way, shape, or form, but I don't believe the people involved are all closet child molesters either...what frightens me is that actual children may be affected, simply because LL won't make an effort to guarantee that everyone on the main grid is truly an adult.

Fixed.

Ronin - editing people's quoted comments to put words in their mouths is a violation of Forum rules. They have every right to report you for it.

Id suggest you find another way to display your arguement such as placing your version under theirs.

First , NO ACTUAL SEX OCCURS.

Second, any interactions that do occur are between adults, though not guarnteed it can be assumed due to policies in place.

Third, all interactions are consensual, it is not possible to actually force anyone to do anything in SL that they do not want to do, worst case, pull the damn plug.

fourth, Ageplay, is just that, play. While offensive to many, myself included it is really just role playing among adults.

Fifth, Furries are not animals, they are anthropmorphic avatars, just like ALL the other avatars in SL. No beast = no beastiality.

All that said any actions or activities that are offensive to the general population should be done in private.

Hmmm...I hate Fords, can we ban all Ford vehicles from SL? :D

(I really do hate Fords, and I'm a Ford stockholder!)

With the recent rattle about ageplay, I thought we should examine Furry affairs

Human on Furry = Beastiality
Furry on Furry = Discovery Channel
Furry humping grandma's leg = COMEDY

Question is will this recent policy change trickle into the Furry Community too, and what will the defining lines be?

Alien on Human = Scifi channel :)

True, but humans are funny monkeys...for good or ill, we can become emotionally and mentally entangled without any physical contact ever taking place. Just because something isn't tangible doesn't mean it's not real to the people involved.

Not seen ageplay with my own eyes yet (and not interested in it), but this is something I have read several times here:

[...]
what frightens me is that actual children may be affected, simply because LL won't make an effort to guarantee that everyone on the main grid is truly an adult.

The first one ist applicable to the whole mature content of SL, not only to ageplay.
So why use this argument only against ageplay?

The second fear is worth another thought.
I am convinced that, when minors come to SL, they want to be perceived as adult.
Otherwise they would let their parents register them for Teen grid.
But this is not what they are looking for.

So, they come to SL, wanting no-one to know they are minor.
They will want to look really adult, like a super hero, a pop star or what do I know.
But I feel they would never ever voluntarily run around as a virtual child! This is just the role they want to get rid of in SL!

Therefore, I am really convinced that the children avatars taking part in ageplay may be anyone, but surely not real children. Not because of a LL guarantee, but by logic and nature. It would be absurd and contradictionary. Real minors that come to SL would'nt want to be children again in SL.
They will instead avoid that, and won't become potential victim for pederasts.

I'm not...I think LL generally needs to find alternate, non-payment oriented methods for account verification, for several reasons. I don't even feel particularly strongly one way or the other about the ageplay issue on SL, since it is unlikely (although not impossible) that any actual children would be harmed as a result. What I really don't like is the way furries keep getting dragged into the argument. One has nothing to do with the other and claiming furries are into bestiality as some sort of...I don't know, justification?deflection?... is seriously starting to irritate me. If we must discuss this ad nauseum, I just wish the focus would stay on the actual issue, without creating incidental casualties.

To be honest, it will only take a few complaints and furry sex will be the next ageplay. Or Gor. Or BDSM. Or "escorts". Or gambling. Or <insert controversial behaviour of choice>

I disagree.

Creating the illusion of a crime is rarely the same as committing that crime.

Sexual age-play is not someone committing pedophilia.

The problem is that sexual age play creates "Child Pornography", which is not legal to make, distribute or even own... even if it's simulated.

Other simulated acts in SecondLife may count as "pornographic".... but the laws governing that are far more permissive by comparison.

[edit: by 'law' I mean those of the US and California that have binding effect on LL ]

This forum isn't for general discussion; there are many Resident Sites where this discussion is appropriate — Resident Answers is for Resident-to-Resident help. :) I'll close this thread...

Just because it is funny doesn't make it ok.

Intolerance
Combating intolerance is a cornerstone of Second Life's Community Standards. Actions that marginalize, belittle, or defame individuals or groups inhibit the satisfying exchange of ideas and diminish the Second Life community as whole. The use of derogatory or demeaning language or images in reference to another Resident's race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or sexual orientation is never allowed in Second Life.

If you think your post might be over-reactive, or that it might fall into one of these definitions, please reconsider posting.
