Wallace speaks, and says nothing.

He is just another LL corproate shill, he is just confirming what a lot of us have long suspected. LL's plans for SL are crystal clear. They know who the want, and is ain't us. All we can hope is that the TwitBooking doesn't totally destroy the SL a lot of us love, and we'll still be able to have a little corner of it for ourselves. I ,frankly doubt it.

So here's hoping M and Co, get exactly what they are looking for. And they choke on it.

Wallace sums it all up near the bottom with the phrase "Yes, my job is actually in the marketing department, not the community department, which should help explain this a bit."

Loud and clear. Marketing has a goal, and it has nothing to do with what the community thinks or wants.

Facebook and Twitter are fine for what they try to do, but they don't work as extensions of SL. You have to understand that every time a Linden mentions them, it makes many of us wonder how well you know SL, and where on earth you see SL going.

One fear is that it's all aimed at hypothetical corporate clients, who want a "predictable experience" - meaning something that's dumbed-down, safe, bland, and repeatible.

What makes SL great is how DIFFERENT it is from Facebook and Twitter.

So, the title is a complete misnomer, then. He's not actually about conversation, he's more about putting a spin on things and encouraging the rest of LL to do the same. In other words, he's PR, something ELSE LL has been needing for a while.

Disappointing. I had hoped that they'd actually have someone who was willing to help out in the community and what-not. You know, work with the residents, engage is actual discourse with us. After all, that's what a conversation is.

But anyways, welcome Wallace and too bad you got in late in the PR game for LL. They could have used you ages ago.

I'm seeing something more in there... if you read between the lines....

in the past LL has had issues with conflicting policies and statements by various employees... if I read that post right, he'll be the one making sure that all of that contradictory information comes out as one clear directive. that is on top of the PR. this would make him the go to person for final rulings on any policy for the public.

I do hope he has super powers, because he's going to need them to keep up with LL and keep it's foot out of it's corporate mouth.

Well.. that honestly wasn't the best way to put it, though it is the truth.

Of course, that was one of the reasons I didn't post on that particular blog topic.

After reading a few of his responses, I have to say that he has the corporate speak down rather nicely. A lot of words, nothing said.
