It looked as if, to create a linkage so one sign on can switch to another, and to expose those links to others, you had to go to that Accounts page, and manually indicate there that an existing or new account was you, and in what world.
The "link third party account" is there to link your account with gmail or Facebook. Just creating an avatar links it. As I have already noted, both Veritable and I have already done this. From: someone And presumably others could see something in my profile (unless I hide it intentionally) to confirm that I'm the same Ceera in both worlds. This is the part that doesn't appear to happen. From: someone Maybe someone who intends to stay there and who doesn't mind outing some of their alts can experiment with that, and have an un-related account look at their profile to see of the link is visible. Go look and see, already. |

Impersonating a Linden *within SL* is a no-no, but doing it outside SL ..... ?? Maybe that is only covered by the arbitrary parts of the TOS. Like, they reserve the right to zap you for no reason at all.

They found my old avatar profile in there from a few years back. What I found was at another location, but I can't go back and check now myself, because I already deleted my account. Here is what I recall: I was already logged in, and on my Profile page. In the very top, upper right corner was a text link for "Account". That page showed me my one account, and a "Link Avatar" choice above it, where I could enter an additional avatar name and specify a virtual world from a pulldown menu for where that avatar existed. Nothing about Facebook or any other service's login methods. I presumed that if I had done that, it would have created a new set of pages, using the same contact info and e-mail as the account I was already logged in as. To the right of the avatar name already in that list, there were three links. The top one was "Privacy Settings" and it was that link that hides the opt-out to keep the linked alts from showing to others.

Oh, look at that... To get them to DELETE my account, they require "sending an email to [email]info@avatarsunited.com[/email] specifying your name, user-name, email address and telephone number." Which means that to get my account WIPED, I have to provide MORE information than I provided to sign up? No. They are NOT getting my real name or my phone number for their data mining. I'll just abandon the account, and never use it again.
.... It's a bit like the Integrity Verification thing. For many parts of the world, a person has to supply information that Integrity would purportedly verify against even though they could not possibly have that information legally or even at all.

I accidently created a "Joshooah" AU account and then decided I wanted my full name so I created another account as "Joshooah Lovenkraft". I requested the Joshooah account be deleted and have my email addresses reassociated and AU support was blazingly fast. With the deluge in sign-ups I didn't expect a response for at least a day but I had it resolved within minutes.

So I've requested that the account be deleted, after sending M a message, and letting the noobs know that it isn't actually Philip. Naturally, of course, AU support is not acting so quickly on this request! Probably they've died laughing.  |

I kinda like the idea of AU but it's going to need some tweaking from a policy standpoint. There's going to be some issues with people taking names of avatars and groups, like for your SL business as an example, that don't correlate with ownership within SL.
