Nowhere, actively. I'll lurk at SLU periodically, to see what other stupid things LL says and does, but I won't be an active member of any more forum community. I don't have time nor interest anymore.

I'll keep an eye on the new ones, but sparkingly. I'm on SLU and SCII as well, but don't often peek my head up.

I'll definitely give the new forums a go. I'm open minded and they might turn out to be as good as, or even better than these ones. If not, I'm on SLU, though I don't post as much on there.

I'm hoping to settle in the forum cartel forum (http://www.forumcartel.com). I say "hope to" because it's been dead for most of the time it's existed, but activity is starting up now and I hope it will grow.

I'll miss all you guys loads......I've read and lurked on these forums since 2006 and now feel like a fish out of water. A catch up reunion would be an idea to keep old friends in our minds and have something to look forward too..........the only constructive free gratis help I get for SL is in here, so I guess I'll go back to being frustrated and grumpy again...

You have never figured out that the other places might actually be a better fit for you, because you can talk about whatever you want there, in the appropriate places. All the off-topic forums I know of get a healthy amount of traffic, and people indulge in all kinds of banter from serious to silly.

You're not a victim unless you want to be.

I will miss you Jig. You are a totally different person than I am, but I find you funny, refreshing & even sad sometimes...you bring out a lot of different emotions in lots of different people. I don't post a lot here but I read on a daily basis. I hope you don't disappear forever...it would be a great loss.

There's ferrets in SLU.

I think there's room for Jigs.

Just looked up some stats.

I've been active at forums.secondlife.com for 53 months, starting back in Sept 2005, when I joined SL. I've never been one to post just for the sake of inflating my post count. I post when I have something serious to contribute, or a serious question to ask. The majority of what I posted there was in the building, texture and scripting tips forums, and in General/Resident Answers, giving freely of my time to help fellow residents, and along the way learning an invaluable mass of information about SL.

I had 7726 posts in that forum for that 53 months, for an average of 145.77 posts per month.

I have attempted to use their Blogs for the last year, since their inception. I've tried to be helpful there, just like in the old forums, but have been balked at every turn by the poor interface and limited capabilities of that bloated blog trying to be what it was never meant to be. It's gained me mostly frustration and disgust, and I have learned very little there.

I had 120 posts in that 12 months, for an average of a mere 10 posts per month.

Does that give you some inkling of how much less usable their Blogs are than the Forums LL is happily discarding?

If the blogs worked even on a par with how well the old forums worked, I would have happily posted just as much in both areas, and would happily have migrated there when the old forums finally got shut down.

Clearly, that usability and functionality have not been available in the blogs.

I anticipate my future participation in the blogs and the so-called replacement forums will be similarly reduced, because of the lack of functionality in this ill-suited software that the Lab insists on using. I'll still try to maintain a presence there. But only because it is the only door to LL's presence that seems open even a tiny crack. It's the only place they deign to respond to, even if there that response is severely limited and usually tends to be the Lab ignoring any critical comments and going blithely on as if nothing was wrong at all.

So. here's one active and helpful texture artist, builder, and scripter, whose assistance and expertise will be severely curtailed by this forced adoption of the new blog-based "forums".

I may post on SLU, but not much. I never have felt "at home" in the third party forums, and it seems kind of pointless to discuss a product in the virtual "back alleys", where the makers of the product, the ones who have it in their power to fix the bugs and add the new features, never deign to listen or respond.

All told, I expect to spend less than 1/10 as much time posting in any of the SL related blogs ince hey shut these down. I do not expect them to ever get the blog-based crap to work even as well as these vBulletin forums performed at their very worst, let alone to be a pleasant to use and useful set of forums.

Thank you Belle. I just got off the phone from a person deeply close to me in real and just read what you wrote. What you just said touched me as a real person, as real Jig, cos I am really Jig and have always been. And that is what I shall miss the most of all of you, that I know you deep-deep as friends I never met, liek on th etube or bus or coffee shop but deeper too, telling each other our loves and our souls and hearts.
I honestly will miss you all in my life.
And you, Belle; I will miss you, too.
I wish I had known you.
Goodbye.

I'll give the blogs a try because I think it's the people that matter more than the venue. Their software is crap and hard to use, but I'll reserve final judgement until after they upgrade. I don't expect it will be tons better but I'm hopeful it will become useable.

I have to agree with Qie that just leaving for other places won't do half as much good as sticking it out. Hoping others will join us there, however painful it may be. I don't want to lose you all.

I don't like a lot of the people there any more than I like the software. Something else the crap software lacks is an ignore function.

I've been hanging around in SLU for a while, posting now and again, though I've just signed up with SCII (primarily cos Amaranthim recommends it). I like SLU, but I guess I'll end up gravitating to wherever the main scripting forum ends up after Scripting Tips closes.

Like so many others, I'll probably try them all - and have already tried many of them. The only one I doubt I'll frequent is SLU. I don't fit the demographic - that is, not every other word out of my mouth is course (and as meaningless as the smurfs saying the s word every other phrase.)

SCII has been fairly welcoming, but I don't want to burn any bridges anywhere at this point. I'll aim to be a cosmopolitan doggy.

A promiscuous pisser upon lampposts? I like a dog who isn't fussy.

I'm already a little bit established at SCII, which I think I like significantly better than I did SLU. And I will try out the new blog-style forums . . . assuming that there is a logical place for me, like an RA forum.

But I'm also going to keep an eye out on where people end up, because I know we are going to be scattered, and a lot of you I don't want to lose. So if it means posting occasionally on SLU or the Cartel blog just to keep in touch with some of you, I'll do that.

Yeah, good luck with that. Blue as much as said that isn't happening.

I mean, if it was, don't you think he would have at least thrown the mob that much of a bone instead of saying it's not the right time to get into the details of the final forum structure?

I've started about a dozen replies over there, and a blog post over at Avatars United, but they all end up being so venomous I end up erasing them.

I have to believe that supporting a forum like this uses a trivial amount of bandwidth and disk space in the SL scheme of things. And providing a place where people can vent is strategically wise; it's when people can't blow off steam that they make uglier plans.

I ordinarily follow the maxim: "Attribute nothing to malice that can adequately be explained by stupidity". This decision by LL to prevent the re-creation of an open forum like this on its new system is either a monumental example of the latter or a nasty little demonstration of the former.

I am sure that such a usually garrulous and often articulate bunch of people as you all are will not remain silent in the future--and that includes most of you who are threatening to stop typing at the moment. You'll all show up somewhere, and I suspect, over time, most of you will drift to the same place so you can be together. It will all go on, somewhere.

See you there, wherever that is. :)

Like Qie I've given the Blogorums a chance, and I too am just a wee bit stubborn... and very much a bitch (although I'm playing nice this second, because otherwise I'm afraid I'll gain the mysterious ability to reach through the screen and throttle several lindens in their seat).

the truth is I expect not a single change in the next 2-3mos over there. It's more than masochistic to try and provide script help there, and I'm seriously considering just packing it in after I've given it my shot at trying to fix what they've broken. either that or until my frustration finally turns to depression... whichever comes first.

This. and 'all' means 'all', anywhere i can find i'll give a look at least. i despise the clearspace abomination that infects the dashbord but thats where most newbies end up first so i do help there when i can anyway.

I believe they have turned on some form of displaying code - paste the indented text in, highlight it, click some kind of >> button, and select Java. I haven't done it yet, but that's what a post said.
