InSL u find every kind of no-life retard you could possibly imagine as well as a few even Tim Burton couldnt imagine u find 12yr-olds claiming to be 40 men claiming 2 be women, women claiming 2 make sense and every1 claiming 2 have ideas that are actually worth a damn if only someone would just listen to their unique innovative and exceptionally important idea

While we all know the limitations and weaknesses of There, it has some strengths, too. Great vehicle "feel," avatars which move their lips as they speak, a.i. dogs (but we have Jeffrey Ventrella now), and a few other things. It's nice to me that there are different places for people to go, as not everyone likes the same things. It's nowhere near as good as SL, to me, however someone else is entitled to their own opinion.

I had to download it to have a look on a freebie account as i totally agree all these differnt worlds offer different things, my first port of call was/is the forums and guess what it doesnt matter what world you are in some things never change and i quote from a post there below. It certainly made me have a good smile From: someone Free Trial membership as opposed to Free membership I remember when There offered a free trial membership.
It was just long enough to get a good look at There and what is offered.
Not long enough to encourage the rampant abuse of the free accounts.
I would like to propose that There bring back the free trial membership and stop offering free unlimited membership.
To quote my long gone Daddy, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?". PS: There.com allows its freebie accounts to read but not post on the forums that they run please vote on the same proposal for here at: /13/1e/173871/1.html

I joined it about 6mos ago and never logged in after I joined so I uninstalled it off my comp, was too generic for me to be honest. Isn't there another one that is out there that is closer to SL? I saw it somewhere in this forum but I forget where....

We can go to several we like - it's not a case of "pick one and that's it." After all, you may love shopping the downtown core of your town but still go to the mall. No one limits us but ourselves. It looks interesting but they don't yet have a Mac client so it's a no-no for me.

Does there.com have voice? I heard about there.com somewhat recently when everyone was complaining about voice coming to SL in the forums. Someone said it ruined things at there.com

I see, they even have an upgrade service called Premium? I wonder how long there.com has been around and if it is an intentional copycat of Second Life.

Someone said it ruined things at there.com I'm actually a paying There subscriber for some reason... oh yeah, when the SL grid used to go down all the time I would pop in on There and have fun talking to all the teens. Very few people type complete words, much less sentences There. It's like a 3D phone texting service. Anyway, about half the people I see in-game are subscribers (they all have little speaker-kinda icons over their heads), and I've only seen people actually voice-chatting ONCE.

There had voice* way back when I started in 2003. It isn't trying to copy SL. Some ideas are not exactly revolutionary.
*and about half the people used it

I was put off even trying the demo by their whole "developer" process. You want to create something? Pay us some money to have it checked, then pay us some more money for each copy. And BTW, clothing must meet our standards, you can't advertise any company who don't pay us money, you can't use the word "there" in a similar font to us (looks like arial bold to me), everything must be PG, etc. etc. Looks to me as if all they are interested in is a total consumerist reality. Everyone must buy everything from a small group of pre-approved developers. There's no freedom to just knock something up for the fun of it. Part of why I'm on SL is that I can interact with the environment when I've had enough of interacting with the people

Kaneva is just a MySpace knock-off with an additional 3D component. The avatar customization is very limited and I don't even think there is any truly player created content. Just ways to get your shitty videos and music from your MySpace page into 3-space.

I checked out 'There' the other day, and joined just to see what it was like. (Meee, a resident of SL, going into a further virtual 'third life', in essence!). To me, There looked more cartoony - I couldn't make the avatar look like me although I could probably have changed the hair if I'd paid. There's world was more like a kids picture book. Still clever, mind! However, while I was 'There' it all worked properly and the lag-free movement was refreshing.

What is your question, exactly? My thread which had a valid question about the Police Blotter gets locked by a moderator but this one which is about a competitor has been going at least a day.
