It is a fine balance. I have seen with with online games where they listen to the players and ruin the game. In the Loose Lunatic's case they seem to listen too infrequently.

Did not make sense. I do not understand why the "just ignore and let this one die" thread bothers you so much. It is a place to touch base, rant, post pictures and jokes, and talk about our lives, since "General Discussion" was canned. I'm sorry that you feel that our enjoyment is so terribly embarrassing that you wish it was eradicated. I wish you well and I hope you will find the "New Format" more to your taste. Goodbye. |

... "just ignore and let this one die" thread ... This thread is not about that thread. Well, I am not longer confused but you seem to be. ![]() _____________________

This thread is not about that thread. It isn't? Mission objective: - To sink the "Let this one die thread" I mean the OP didn't even want it to exist and you guys just kept propping the corpse against the wall every time it fell over. Two _____________________

Ah right. Silly of me to mention it if I want this thread to be on the first page come archiving time. Editing the OP.
This is what was quoted: It will still serve as an embarrassment if it sits on the first page when they archive this forum. ... and this is what I was replying to: Won't matter how many people respond. One time, we were promised that if a certain JIRA issue (the one to restore Hippos) got 2,000 votes, it would be implemented. We got the votes. We didn't get the Hippos. So, their response and the quote made no sense. As for that thread? 1) The original poster did not want it kept alive. Obviously, people don't have any respect. 2) Why didn't a moderator act on OP's wishes and lock it like they do for most other threads? 3) Inflating a thread just for numbers with inane chatter has to be the biggest waste of time I have ever seen. 4) It is nonsensical because it runs along so quickly that anything you said in it is quickly buried and that line of thought it lost. 5) It pushes down other threads with topics worth discussing. _____________________

ENGLAND EXPECTS by Ogden Nash
Let us pause to consider the English, Who when they pause to consider themselves they get all reticently thrilled and tinglish, Because every Englishman is convinced of one thing, viz.: That to be an Englishman is to belong to the most exclusive club there is: A club to which benighted bounders of Frenchmen and Germans and Italians et cetera cannot even aspire to belong. Because they don't even speak English, and the Americans are worst of all because they speak it wrong. Englishmen are distinguished by their traditions and ceremonials, And also by their affection for their colonies and their contempt for their colonials. When foreigners ponder world affairs, why sometimes by doubts they are smitten, But Englishmen know instinctively that what the world needs most is whatever is best for Great Britain. Hmm, remember this was written when we were Top nation They have a splendid navy and they conscientiously admire it, And every English schoolboy knows that John Paul jones was only an unfair American pirate. English people disclaim sparkle and verve, But speak without reservations of their Anglo-Saxon reserve. After listening to little groups of English ladies and gentlemen at cocktail parties and in hotels and Pullmans, of defining Anglo-Saxon reserve I despair, But I think it consists of assuming that nobody else is there, And I shudder to think where Anglo-Saxon reserve ends when I consider where it begins, Which is in a few high-pitched statements of what one's income is and just what foods give one a rash and whether one and one's husband or wife sleep in a double bed or twins. All good young Englishmen go to Oxford or Cambridge and they all write and publish books before their graduation, And I often wondered how they did it until I realized that they have to do it because their genteel accents are so developed that they can no longer understand each other's spoken words so the written word is their only means of intercommunication. England is the last home of the aristocracy, and the art of protecting the aristocracy from the encroachments of commerce has been raised to quite an art. Because in America a rich butter-and-egg man is only a rich butter-and-egg man or at most an honorary LL.D of some hungry university, but in England why before he knows it he is Sir Benjamin Buttery, Bart. Anyhow, I think the English people are sweet, And we might as well get used to them because when they slip and fall they always land on their own or somebody else's feet. _____________________

[Team] Jenshae: You know we don't need money now?
[Team] Jenshae: Think of how much has been digitalised. [Team] Soap: 10 years ago my family ran a business, and we were massively confused as to where our retail customers found their money - it was all loans of course - not workable in the long run. [Team] Jenshae: Every top of a profession could have the same rewards, those who manipulate money and politics, wouldn't be the main beneficiaries. [Team] Jenshae: Just think. Track work done, then reward people. Monitor it with smart cards [Team] Jenshae: You can even see who is over eating. [Team] Jenshae: Health issues and such [Team] Soap: Oh that's a delightful picture... [Team] Jenshae: It could be really bad [Team] Jenshae: ... or it could be far better than what we have. [Team] Soap: A true meritocracy could work. Pay by measured results. ?? [Own]: custom map? [Own]: with his ld, you might be able to file for divorce [Team] Soap: Communism fails in real life because it offends a very basic sense of justice in people. [Team] Jenshae: I know how it can be abused in the "Big Brother" sense but on the other hand, it will reduce the gap between those who are wealthy and those who aren't, there would be no inheritance for instance. Just what you have been rewarded with to utilise to do more things with. The people you can convince to work with you. [Team] Jenshae: I don't advocate communism [Team] Jenshae: People need motivations and they need to feel "special" [Team] Soap: exactly To [Ella]: Ji [Team] Soap: But I don't like uncontrolled capitalism. [Team] Jenshae: What I am saying is that they will all have levels of rewards. [Team] Jenshae: So the more you -do- the more you get. [Team] Soap: aha! go on.. [Team] Jenshae: Similar to capitalism but you will only retain it for your life and those who are truely dependent on you. [Team] Jenshae: So the top artist would have the same rewards as the prime minister [Team] Soap: I think that's fair enough [Team] Jenshae: Then people would be able to follow what motivates them as an occupation, follow their passions. [Team] Soap: yes [Team] Jenshae: There would be natural balancing factors, you can see a good artist and if there are too many, they dont' get the attention they want, so they try sculpting or architecture or game design [Team] Jenshae: Unfortunately, I don't see something like this happening in my life time. [Team] Jenshae: There are too many people, all too pacified. The days of changes, revolutions, they are over. [Team] Soap: no, so much of the modern world doesn't bear close scrutiny. [Team] Soap: and you're right of course, no one will act in the ways we've sen before. [Team] Jenshae: No longer would they be doing things for profit, since it wouldnt' exist. [Team] Jenshae: Those that want to produce food or care for animals, they will do that. [Team] Jenshae: Be allowed to since no one will own certain farms, they will keep becoming available as farmers die instead of lying fallow and belonging to someone in the city. [Team] Jenshae: A very open society, people would no longer need to hoard. Things would no longer be kept for their financial value, just their usefulness or aesthetic value to them, personally. [Team] Soap: yes, the way things are certainly preclude folk from opportunities. we're a species that need room and I'm not sure we have it! _____________________

Oh but you have all been good for a laugh. You know what is interesting? They taught gorillas sign language and then at one point did IQ tests on them. You know why they found? The average gorilla is smarter than the average human. So, why are they in the jungles and humans are so technically advanced? Simple. Humans are weak and pathetic, so they resorted to making more and more tools to make up for their inadequacies, their inability to survive in the wild. Even more interesting is that as their tools get more advanced and so does society, the species grows weaker and more dependent on those tools, being specialised in the use of only a few, relying on chains of production. Obesity runs rife, perversion, theft, violence, all as the populations become more and more dense in areas, the group mentalities deteriorate, slums spring up, guettos, squatter camps, more and more people continue to breed themselves into harsh conditions. Then comes the enablers, those so big hearted and sympathetic that they feed, cloth and house those suffering with the basics. Once those people have the basics they then go on to feel a bit more comfortable, however, their education, morals and general upbringing were not improved on, so they simply breed more. Where you had just one suffering, now you have ten more children that need the same care to breed a hundred. Steralisation is considered not an option, every person must have the right to breed more spawn. The more people following a religion, the more sway it has over the collective mentality of the people. The more below average people there are, the more easily brain washed voters and labourers, feeding the machines of industry, elevating the few that are rich and the relative few that ride on their tail coats. So, no, I don't care a damn for these self bred, mentally, socially and physically weak beings. I am more interested in something that knows how to really suvive, in balance with its ecosystem. I find it interesting what I have saved. ![]() _____________________

Back in the day when Bill Clinton was president:
One day, he woke up and turn to Monica, got his newspaper and coffee, then went out onto the balcony of the White House. He looked up at the sky where the snow had stopped falling, then out and around at the world he ruled. Finally he looked down at the snow. Written there was, "Clinton is an arsehole." "What?!?!" he rushed back into into his room and got his chief of security on the phone. "I want to know who did it and you have 30 minutes or you are fired." Quick as a flash and in 27 minutes the security chief gets back to him, "Sir, we know who did it." "Well?" "We did a urine sample, it was Al Gore, sir." "That dirty shit! I am going to have to make sure Bush win the elections!" "That is not all, sir. We did a handwriting test. It was Hilary's." _____________________
