Well, when I first came around, I thought I'd just be lurking around the forums, but I loved posting here and meeting people in the Forum Cartel, and new friends, and learning new stuff about SL. Shame to see these forums go.

I will thoroughly miss you Guys. RA has given me much laughter and sometimes anger during my workday. It is going to be really different without everyone. I have visited SCII & SLU because of all those graphics are blocked by the job it is not as much as this place is.

Thank you for answering my questions and providing information on topics I would not have given any thought about.

I made some great friends here, especially Treasure and Mickey you two are AWESOME!! The advice and support I received from you is priceless.

I LOVE Resident Answers. I get good, prompt info here, people are always willing to help, and it's often fun and friendly. I will give the new forum a chance, and hope it has something similar for us there. If not, we'll just take over an area and make it our own! Don't give up on it before we try it, guys. See you all there.

So long and thanks for all the fish!

Do you guys HAVE to make me cry? :(

Why should you be special? I've been crying since I found out. Ridiculous, eh, crying over an internet forum closing/changing. Yeah, just.....ridiculous..... :(

I'm feelin a bit like sayin this. I'm sure we'll all have our own takes on it.

I never was much f'r forums, and only came into the SL Forums -- back in the ""General Discussion" days -- to try to at least defend kidstuff from time to time. Along the way, I began to know the folks who were regulars around here. Many of them turned out to be pretty good people, and even though I've disagreed with, well, I cannot fault them for their passion for SL and their views.

I'll still be about til we close here, I'm sure. Not sure if I'll be a regular anywhere else, including the yet-to-be-finalized replacement. Yet I hope to see folks wherever ya'll end up, as well as inworld. I(t's been a pleasure, everybuggy!

I know I'll see you around, but dang, I sure will miss your Weekend Updates. :( Reading your travelogues each Monday morning brightened my day, and reminded me of all the wonders SL has to offer each of us. Thank you, Mari, for sharing those with us. :)

After reading some posts on blogorums (the ones where a classified post is mixed with xstreet advertising, scripting lessons, and resident answers like discussion), "see you soon" seems to be the most appropriate goodbye indeed ;)

Mari, I guess I've been one of those pain-in-the-neck kid av baiters - and most likely will continue to be so long as folk both within and without SL insist on confusing serious RL issues with virtual frivolity.

To be honest, I did not see you as a pain inna neck. Actually, very few made me feel that way here. FWIW, it helped me to learn to explain it all, and I often learned something from those who were not, shall we say, fans of SL kids. Some I even ended up as friends with.

I'm going to miss these forums and all of you lot so much. I spend far more time here than my post-count would suggest.

I love the simple newbie-asking-a-question threads because if I'm quick enough, I get to feel helpful. I love the long, rambling discussion threads because they make me think. I love the daft threads because they make me chuckle. I love the Jig threads because I can't wait to see what she'll come out with next. I even love the complete-trainwreck threads - my favourite spectator-sport! Oh, and necroposts - they give me the opportunity to remember people I miss who are long gone. Until today, I had never posted in the never-ending thread, but I think it's a Huge Acomplishment and you should all be very proud!

I found these forums indispensable in my early days and even now, I can't think of a better place to get advice or opinions on anything SL. It's also the first place I check to see if there are any grid issues. There will generally be a few "can't log in" or "transactions borked" threads here HOURS before the grid status page catches up.

I'll have a go at whatever new forums they give us but I really don't expect they'll be my sort of place ... too Predictable. I will probably spend more time inworld rather than get deeply into another forum on an external site, so hope to see lots of you around. I tend to think of you all as a huge, slightly dysfunctional but ultimately loveable family.

Take care,
spin x

Thank you for posting this, Mari.

I just signed on to see a plethora of posts regarding the demise of this forum but posted here first since your post illustrates my thoughts:

One of the things I've enjoyed about these forums is getting to meet people from SL that I may never see in world. Other people I've come across in my travels but would not have "recognized" them except for having "seen" them in the forums and still others have become friends.

Along the lines of your coming to the forums to defend child avatars, the forums have also introduced various communities to me that I would not have known about. I had no idea what a "furry" was pre- SL, for example, nor Steampunk.

I will miss this forum immensely and all the people in it, be they friends, those with whom I've had (sometimes heated) disagreements, and everyone in between.

Amongst the people I met on the forums and then later met in world was you, Mari. Thank you for your insight and level-headed postings. I'm not going to say "good-bye" because I know where your stores are and know how to use the IM button. *smiles*

That's a relief that the thread turns out to be about the forum. I was afraid Mari was going the way of Ordinal!

I shall miss the people here, and being able to talk to them, and being able to get things off my chest fairly well. And I suppose I should thank everyone for putting up with me this long.

/me waves. This seems like a good point to wander away at. I didn't know the forum was here until the Mainland threads I first posted in. I have been trying to make note of what I can content wise as I don't have faith in LLs "archive". Is anyone creating a functional archive somewhere?

I don't believe goodbye is truly appropriate. I'm sure I'll see you around in world in the future.

Thanks for what you've done for the forums and Second Life. You really helped broaden my horizons and make Second Life a better place.

See ya around!

Goodbye to all you fine folk from me, too. I'm gonna miss this forum, and the community that has evolved here. Even when I've been too disheartened by the state of SL and LL to go inworld (and that's been most of the time, lately) I still keep RA perpetually open in a browser tab and browse through it in quiet moments. I've not been saying much lately (again with the disheartened and disenfranchised feelings) but I've been lurking, and reading various bits of RA as the spirit moves me.

I don't know where I'll go when RA closes down, or even if I'll go anywhere forum-wise on a regular basis. I've lurked a little in a few of the other forums, but have found the ones I've checked out too flamey and hostile for my taste. RA has its share of flamers and twits but they're in the minority here, and there are many good folk whose words I enjoy reading that more than counterbalance the aggravation and keep me coming back.

Take care and be well, all of you. I'll miss this place, and I'll miss you all (well, almost all of you! *laugh*)

*nuzzles and purrs*

Not sure where I'll end up.

SLU always eventually brings me into conflict. This place sort of does as well actually. Comments get taken and pulled to the furthest negative interpretation, often selectively ignoring portions of the discussion in order to do so. I really don't like conflict...

But none of the other options have enough activity to satisfy the need to be on a forum when not inworld.
