I'm feelin a bit like sayin this. I'm sure we'll all have our own takes on it.
I never was much f'r forums, and only came into the SL Forums -- back in the ""General Discussion" days -- to try to at least defend kidstuff from time to time. Along the way, I began to know the folks who were regulars around here. Many of them turned out to be pretty good people, and even though I've disagreed with, well, I cannot fault them for their passion for SL and their views.
I'll still be about til we close here, I'm sure. Not sure if I'll be a regular anywhere else, including the yet-to-be-finalized replacement. Yet I hope to see folks wherever ya'll end up, as well as inworld. I(t's been a pleasure, everybuggy!
Mari

I've been posting in RA almost as long as I've been in SL. It is the only part of this forum I looked at with any regularity. It's where most of my SL friends come from. When I quit SL and cancelled my account a couple of years ago, I came back 3 weeks later...not becuase I missed being inworld, but because I missed all the goings on here. it's been pute entertainment reading everyone's postings here, some made me laugh, some mad me cry, some angered me, but I consider the time spent reading them all well spent. I thank all of you who are here today, but also those who have left...Raymond, Trout, Collette, Conan, Isabeau and her exploding npples, Bigwig, Cherry, even Rebecca and Ricardo....and so many others. In the words of the dying Capt James T. Kirk.....it was fun.

I don't mind moving if we switch to functioning forum software. If we don't, then I suppose I'll wander off. If anyone in the future reads this and needs help just IM me and I'll try to solve your problem.
Or maybe I'll just hide in the storeroom and wait until they archive me. I can run around in the dark and drag sentences from one post to another. I could try to use sharp letters to scratch messages on the inside of monitors, and maybe even tunnel through to the Wayback Machine.

Yeah, it has been a pleasure. Like Mari, I dont know if/where I'll be either. This forum, and all of you, became important to me. Became friends. I'll miss you, and the way it was, here. A lot. Be safe. God speed. Hope to see you, inworld. Have a blessed life. All of you.

Will miss these forums too.
I am going to start my own 3rd party forum. To many great people and to many great resources to lose.

RA and two of the forums at SLU are pretty much my only SL activity these days. I don't think I'll make the effort to get used to another forum this late in the game.

I just have one important question. Now where do I go on Mondays to find out what Marianne did over the weekend?

Thank you for your kind spirit, levity, common sense, your great pictures, and your voice as a non-Lolita child avatar. It's been a pleasure reading you, Mari.

Heya, Mari *waves* I saw this thread by you and i couldn't resist.. i HAD to post in the good-bye thread you started! *HUGS* Not sure where i'll end up either, but i hope to see you there.. although i know we'll cross paths from time to time, in-world (I'm considering starting some 3rd Party forums, but i don't want to end up adding to the noise side, compared to signal side. The fewer quality choices there are, the higher the likelihood we'll see each other somewhere out there) ...sure feels weird, knowing the end is actually near!

We have another week together, folks. Let's make the most of it and truly enjoy and appreciate one another. I am not ready to say goodbye forever yet.
And I'm not sure I can bear a long one.
But if this is your last post, Mari, please know that you have always been an inspiration to me. You taught me how to have innocent fun in Second Life. See you at Living Tree or somewhere we haven't yet dreamed of.

Been posting here under one name or another since 2003, when the forums were black and all of Second Life was about the size of my estate as it is now.
All of you only know Desmond, but this is really round three for me. Waves of forum regulars have come and gone many times. The lives, yes, the lives I've had here... it's been an incredible experience. This hurts, not a little bit.
* * * * *
If the forums have a general discussion area, I'll be around. If not, I won't; I shall be out there elsewhere. We shall see.
In any case, in a faraway land of steam and spring flowers, you can still find me.
Closing his eyes and jumping off,
~ Desmond

From: Weston Graves But if this is your last post, Mari, please know that you have always been an inspiration to me. You taught me how to have innocent fun in Second Life. See you at Living Tree or somewhere we haven't yet dreamed of. No, not my last Not yet. But I figured it was best to say my goodbyes now, not knowing when I might get the chance! From: Cristalle Karami Thank you for your kind spirit, levity, common sense, your great pictures, and your voice as a non-Lolita child avatar. It's been a pleasure reading you, Mari. Thankoo, an thanks to all ya'll f'r the good wishes. Ya, back at the time there wasn't many from the kid community delving over here. I felt it was, y'know, worthwhile to show what us kids were, rather than letting people think that the tabloid TV was what us SL kids were all about. From: Cybin Monde Not sure where i'll end up either, but i hope to see you there.. although i know we'll cross paths from time to time, in-world Well, at the very least, I have a spot right across the road form you in Miramare. From: Tex Nasworthy I just have one important question. Now where do I go on Mondays to find out what Marianne did over the weekend? That... I dunno. I may do them on my website ( http://marianne.secondlifekid.com/ ) an did for a while, but it lacks the give and take of here. I like showing what I'm up to, but I also like seeing what everyone else did too. I really like seein like "Oh, there's Brenda, an Lexxi, an everyone else doing stuff." An you can only really do that on a forum, I think. But I do like showin my weekends! Mari

Hiya Mari, Wishing you well of course, always enjoyed your posts and pics here. If anyone could give us a view upon being in SL as a child avatar, it is you. As I said in another topic, I will not be at the new "forums", but instead frequent SC2, where already a lot of the RA people came by. Maybe we should apply for a RA section there Even already saw some kids there Be well, and see you inside the Forum Cartel chat, or somewhere else! Marcel

Thank you all for sharing good times! The forums were entertaining and a nice place to be helpful while having fun at the same time.
So sad that the Lindens don't get that these things need to go together, but not unexpected.
We'll see if and where we meet again. Anyway, it has been fun. See you all!

I have a feeling we will all drift towards the new forum. A lot depends on what it's like. I haven't really contributed much on the blogs since they started - I think I did one post. But they're not a forum. I'm also waiting to see how Avatars United turns out when the dust settles.

Never got into posting very much, but I did lurk.
Enjoyed reading most of what was posted here. Cheered at some of the posts. Laughed at some. And gnashed my teeth at others.
Sadly, "All good things..." as the expression goes.

From: Tomas Gandini Sadly, "All good things..." as the expression goes. Actually the expression should be "all things . . . " Pep (Death doesn't count, and the taxes thing is a bad joke that is incorrect anyway.)

it's only been fairly recently i started posting much of anywhere at all, i'm pretty antisocial most of the time. but now that i am starting to get into it i'll be staying in whatever they make us use here. i despise the jive clearspace thing but if its all there is i'll use it. ive been browsing a couple of offsite forums but havent got up to posting in them yet. maybe eventually i will. i like helping people and i like interesting discussions so where ever i can do that i will.

screw the abandonment strategies. Use their service. But be careful as you do.

OK, it was fun while it lasted, and as Bilbo said: "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Mari, I guess I've been one of those pain-in-the-neck kid av baiters - and most likely will continue to be so long as folk both within and without SL insist on confusing serious RL issues with virtual frivolity.
All the same, I'm sorry to see anyone leave - especially frequent and knowledgeable contributors such as you have been. As I always hope, my opinions were only ever taken as just that - my opinions. No one among us has the right to call the shots over everyone else or rule the world single-handed (although I really, really, really wish I had that privilege).
Since I won't be moving to another forum, least likely of all the official version, and I don't get out and about much in-world anymore it really will be something of a perma-bye when this forum expires.
Elveda.
