What do you support being banned from SL

Simple question, hopefully simple answers or just votes without a flamefest.
Assuming all the Participants are over 18 in RL and other things magically remained uneffected.
Multiple choices are allowed.

I voted for nothing being banned in SL, that was on your list, but that doesn't mean I am in favor of sexual ageplay or staged rape. As repulsive as those things may be to me what other adults do in SL is none of my business, anyone else's business or LL's business.

You neglected to mention hate speech in your poll and I feel that some of it should be banned if it involves race and stuff like Nazism and KKK. There is no place for that in First or Second Life.

if that wasn't thrown in there, i would have picked none of the above.

LL thinks (or maybe knows) they will get in legal trouble if they tolerate age play. Do all the polls you want, argue all you want but they're not going to tolerate it.

When people use real life pictures in Second Life to depict their perversions it is no longer an issue of what is acceptable. It may be a criminal act. Things done and created in Second Life are one thing but using real pictures of beastality etc is nothing more than using SL as a porn website.

You restricted your List to the sexual, when there are many, many other controversial things that could also be addressed. How about gladiatorial and other death sports? Instruments of Torture? Depictions or reenactments of wars and/ or military conflicts? Street gang violence?

These can all be defended in SL in the same way as the items on your list above where they, Like your list above may be indefensable practices in RL. so why aren't they also on the List? Why Only Sex?

The only thing that would incite flaming is things posted in the comments, the rest is just a plain grab of raw data, I'm keep my interpretation of the data to myself and so I hope others do too.

this is a touchy thread, BUT.. i'm not closing it.

rather, i encourage everyone to have an intelligent and civil discussion about the matter. this not only "answers questions" for SLers, but for LLers as well. while it is sexually centered, that's fine by me.. and even if that means we get a few more (a FEW!, ) about other topics, at least we get a more detailed view of these seperate genres of touchy subjects.

personally, i voted for the child and teen sex. nothing else really seemed to so inherently suggest a dangerous RL affiliation. on second thought.. i should have voted for rape as well.. unfortunately, not because i distrust them as a group, but because role-playing a fantasy with a friend in SL could result in a RL imitation with an unwilling victim. i would hate to see Second Life used for such purposes.

in any case.. carry on, but please let this be an example of the usefulness of civility in the forums.

Thanks Cybin, it really is intended as a raw data grab, if I could have worded it differently to be less offensive I would have. Much as I like a free world, I myself voted only against the childsex, there's just something in me that can't see that as right. But that doesn't mean I would join a lynching mob searching for it either. Other things I don't find interesting at all, but none the less the people are still real people and from some surprising walks of life. So if they don't push it at me, fine.
Some of the child sex supporters keep saying ban other things too because people don't like them, it is just interesting to see how many really find these other subjects offensive.
I have perhaps commented too much already. But you have to wonder whether some people opposed to the gathering of data are not happy with the results.

This is a bit fishy, I think. Personally I would like to see sexual ageplay with chars appearing like they just started elementary school banned, as well as sex with realistic animals, because those just squick the Hell out of me, and seem incredibly wrong to me. But I would not like to -have- to AR it in order to be a good citizen. This "keep the neighbourhood safe, turn people in" -thing squicks me too. Especially because, as I understand it, "broadly offensive sexual acts" are AR-worthy too, which is an unhealthy slippery slope. Also, whilst these things are squicking -me-, they may not be a problem for anyone else. Also, as long as they are only avatars and prims, no real hurt has happened.

But for reasons already mentioned, we will not see this leniency.

Even as rough results, it is clear from this that a majority either can tolerate anything between consenting adults, or are put off ONLY by play involving simulated minors.

Simulated rape is such a distant second, that if this poll is in any way representative, the majority of the community has said it doesn't mind.

So, what I take from this is: if the Lindens start banning everything they individually think is extreme, but which had been permitted up until now, they are doing something most of the community does not support.

I voted to bann child sex and teen sex [under 18 is my understanding]. I had to think about rape. [knocking on wood] I've never been a victim of this but I know others whohave and I can't understand the attraction to playing it. However, IF I ever stumbled across a rape play scene or some of the othe rthings listed which I personally find offensive, I would vote with my feet. This means I would either teleport out of there FAST or log off.

I would add greifing and financial frauds and scams to the list as well.

As far as the vast majoirity of sexual situations between consenting adults who are DEPICTING consenting adults, I take a very libertarian approach. If its on my land, and I am offended , I eject and bann. If its somewhere else, I leave..period.

Hi Cyban!! You mods really do an awesome job here in the forum and take alot of heat and criticism. Many of us are cranky and opinionated but most of us are pretty civil with each other and with the mods, even when we disagree.
