Now that i look at it, one of the bots is named intlibber BnT. Am i right at who owns the business? If so then why would he have Maldavius BnT? Last i heard the real accounts of these 2 people hate each other. Possibly a wealthy 3rd party is involed, i mean look at all the other names. Griefer, Pizza, Turkey, o.o

This thread is going to degenerate into a 'bots are bad' thread isn't it? I have noticed an increase in bot-like activity on my plots in the last day or two and i take some small pleasure in identifying and banning them when i can. But the question is not wether to ban bots on the grid or not, the real question is what limits should be set on them. Short of instituting repeative turing tests ("I'm sorry you may not ride this ride unless you demonstrate X amount of non-determinisism";), technologically there is no way to effectively scrub the grid of bots. The real question that confronts us is what behavior patterns are allowed and which are not. Bots are generally more efficient than biological units in most tasks and that includes efficiency in consuming resources (e.g. consuming many land search request per second). All LL has to do is require reasonable levels of resource consumption or at least charge a premium for extroidinary resource consumption and the playing field between humans and bots will remain fairly level. Bots are here to stay in both RL and SL. It is time to start figuring out how we will interact and deal with them.

Stop using logic and common sense please. Any arbitrary ideas? that's how LL does things around here.

Oh they can't ban bots or fix them! ARE YOU CRAZY!

If they did that then they would not be able to charge people for prem accounts because things would work for once.
