Excellent thought, lots of places teeming with consent! e.g. Bella Boardwalk

@Tygarys: what do you do about the guys who like "Big Bubba"? I'm not sure....Call them "DADDY" when chasing them? Put on a Rosie ODonnell AV and chase them out? |

As much as it sucks for store owners to have to hire sales & security people, places that do that get more of my business.
I really like knowing that I can jump on a poseball for a hassle-free minute to see how it actually behaves or that I can ask somebody a question about a product. Places that provide those kinds of services are worth a bit of a premium, IMO, and I tend to return to them first when I go shopping for new items. Clearly stated rules are also a plus. If I go adult-shopping and see that the store encourages shoppers to try stuff out and discourages (or ejects/bans) random pervs from hassling shoppers, I'm a bit more comfortable. |

I think you should let the newbies get it out of their system, they'll eventually grow bored and move on to other things. We've all done juvenile stuff when we were new because we didn't know any better. Or hand them a landmark to an escort service. I have to say that the problem with this is the CONSTANT INFLUX of newbies. Yes you'll see a few stop once they have had enough but there are always more to replace them. Having a security person ban people is not the answer either because the offender has to first do something to get banned. Even if you ban 50 first time offenders, you still have those 50 offences already commited on your property. You certainly can't try pre-emptive banning. _____________________

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions
![]() I think I picked out the method that hopefully work best in my case. I will restrict the access to the whole sim to verified residents, except for one island where I place a second shop with the same product range. Nothing changes for the verified customer, who is still taken directly to the right display when using the teleport link in an advertisement, but unverified customers will pop up at the doors of the other shop. This solution also allows me to install some disclaimers (By entering the shop area you agree... legal age... legal in your country etc.), without annoying the verified, most likely adult visitors. Verified residents who like large crowds can still fly over to the second place, project name "Newbie Tower". Perhaps I'll lift my push restriction too there, since I had many requests from residents who want to defend themselves against griefers; that may deal with verified griefers and cagers. If all this doesn't help to keep the main store peaceful, I'll hire shop security in addition. Your shop used to be Small, and in a word, Intimate. a Dom/me and thier slave(s) could Browse, and try out the equipment in relative peace, and privacy, but when you got Big, and began attracting the socially challenged you lost this Customer Base. No slave owner will long tolerate some obnoxious stranger leaping onto a Sex toy and being rude or pushy with thier Favorite slave. They will stop coming because they find the atmosphere coarse, crude, and tasteless (As odd as it sounds coming from people who use whips and melted wax for Intimate moments), but then, it has been my experience that most in our lifestyle seek a certain Class or Refinement. ![]() That's what I want to get back to. Not a place with a dress code; I absolutely don't mind roleplay at my shop and find it refreshing when the visitors have fun. But with the civility and respect of the typical lifestyler, not the rudeness of the many "sex tourists". This brings up a disturbing mental image of there being a kind of "zit-busters" forum somewhere out there where hormonally disadvantaged types swap SLURLs of "great places to hump chicks, dude"... ![]() |

Well, I'm an evil kitty so this is what I would do. Make a female alt, and then head off to the furry sims and find the biggest wiener I could find. Then start patrolling my store. When one of these guys comes over to you and says, "hey u wanna plya???", just whip out "Big Bubba" and say "Yes! Lets get it on!". Then chase them around the store with "Big Bubba" till they leave. ![]() ![]() I like putting on a male shape while keeping my female skin ![]() I loves your store to pieces if it 'da one I think it is, but I gotta tell you i think some of thoze big penis crowd types they go and do a finger-walk through search 'an if your place is what I thinks, its got some words in there that are real easy for non-clueful wanker types to find when they want to go an do the cheap thrills (your brain must be *this* small to ridez the ride) bit. [...] I 'spose you could's also make a new group, "Friends of the store" or something 'an they gets eject rights, make it self-policing some more but gah I don't know how THAT woulds play out...although the image of me wanderin' arounds with bunny ears and an' itchy trigger finger makes me smile some ![]() 'an I likes the 30 second tryouts but bein' geekygirl I dunno how that can be done easy without havin' everyone sellin' stuff there having to rewrite their code *bites lip* maybe a 2nd script can run 'long side that does that since you can force a stand action. I'd hate 'ta see it forced to being parted out to smallish vendor spots 'cause that takes away some of the fun of always bumping into interesting people but sometimes a place gets too fun I guess. I'll rework my ads again, as soon as I'm sure that the classifieds search system is back to it's old functionality (there are still some issues, the database load is kept down by using the new form of ad title search only as soon as a certain number of search results is exceeded). I really like the idea of ban rights for a group of regular customers and visitors. I'll give that a try as well. I'll avoid llUnSit script changes, since I think someone who... really had a lot of fun with a product is more likely to buy it ![]() And separating the products isn't really an option for me, since many lifestylers come for BDSM accessories and leave with a pierced body attachment, or the other way round; lifestylers and slightly kinky vanilla residents really mixed quite well, until I made the error of attracting the current club clientele. At a club, they're confronted with dressed females on a dance floor; at my shop, they find naked girls in restraints or... riding horses, what makes them easier prey in their eyes. So don't worry, I won't change the overall shop design, I'll just sort the old and the new clientele into different locations ![]() |

Bianca: Exactly that sums it up pretty well. During the first months, Doms and Dommes would visit with their subs and often try out the toys together. There was a lot of roleplay going on too, since the place was an excellent location for public humiliation, but with... style and respect for other's privacy. Playful subs often waited there in the hope to be picked up as a test subject, but never bothered anyone. That's what I want to get back to. Not a place with a dress code; I absolutely don't mind roleplay at my shop and find it refreshing when the visitors have fun. But with the civility and respect of the typical lifestyler, not the rudeness of the many "sex tourists". I'm Happy i Summed it up Clearly for you. Again, If you found my suggestions useful, Contact me In Game, we can Talk more. I mentioned display of a Baseline of Products, in a Few Locations, Just to make this Clear, this Baseline should be a wide, Varied selection, But you should have a Selection of specialty items that are unique to Each location, and ads placed in All your stores Howing a few of them, and directing people to the Other Locations. You can get the Effect of a Larger store without having it All in one place, and Keeping each individual shop smaller, and the shoppers more spread out Will In Effect, Hide your store from the Crowd Seeking Griefer, or the Hormonally Challenged (Yes i Love that Phrase too) trouble maker. You're right Heather, I brought this on myself. When the classified search was broken, I tried to figure out ways to keep my usual weekend revenue. The easy solution springing to mind was lots of cheap advertisements, starting with popular search criteria which usually attract the SL club scene. I had my 3 days of being at the top of the classifieds, since all those overpaid 30k ads weren't listed anymore. Alas, it worked too well; the traffic numbers shot through the ceiling, but higher traffic doesn't mean more sales. Rather the opposite. Und die Geister, die ich rief, werd' ich nun nicht mehr los... (the spirits that I summoned up I now can't rid myself of). On the other hand, if yours is the store I'm thinking of, I didn't know about it until the new run of ads. No, I haven't bought anything yet, but I did see some things that I would like to get when the budget allows. I guess I count as a tourist in the scene rather than a hardcore player, but tourists aren't necessarily a problem so long as they respect the native culture ![]() |

ignore them, many are lookin for the shock/annoy the hell out of you knee jerk reaction that the get. if they persist ban. customers can also mute them as well.
maybe its just me, but if i find a store that sells quality items, a hormonally charged dimwit will not keep me away. although i do like the Big Bubba idea XD!! i usually find if they are persistant, its because the person or persons they are harassing are responding. dont respond and they will move on, eventually, as one poster put it, they will move on because it will become a not so great place to pick up chicks. _____________________
There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

You can't reason with these people. I was in a store WITH my boyfriend, and still kept getting offers. I asked a few... why don't you go to the sex houses where there are WILLING people. Their answer.. "Those places are always full." I just tell them to get the F away from me and ignore them. If they're really persistant, file a complaint again them and IM their name to the owner so they can ban them.
Shoot... I'll go sit at a store for a couple of hours a week and ban people. Get some frustrations out! LOL Ban.. You're Gone... Ban... You're Gone! LOL |

My alt got tp-ed to a place like we're discussing, the other day. Pose balls abounded, semi and fully naked avatars more than abounding! The walls were stone giving the 'dungeon' look but then I noticed vending posters.
I asked if this was a shop. Friend did not know. I felt embarrased not because of the company but this very issue of using the shop area for recreation rather than browsing. I looked for some kind of notice or notecard clarifying if this was in order. Heck, even some recreational areas have some information for the visitor. Nothing. I'm sure a polite notice would dissuade a lot of these people. It would certainly be a reasonable first line of defense. Sorry if going over old ground here but thought my experience might help. |
