or, we could try to be a little sensitive to the 10,000 "lunatics" that have a) been offended by a woman who goes to a Muslim country and knowingly does something incredibly offensive and b) been brought up in a society where that sort of offense is punishable by extreme measures. I'm not saying it's right that the society is like this, but surely she knew it going in and yet she still decided to name a toy after Prophet Mohammed.

And is this really the place to bring that up?

Be sensitive to the ignorance of a group of people who obviously haven't been out of the trees long enough?

Is that what you meant there?

Name Changes

So - I haven't been on in a while and hate "Ferrarris" as my last name. It's stupid that we can't choose our own names - like on IMVU, for example - and are stuck with the idiotic names Second Life comes up with.

Any change on this "name change" predicament? Are we still stuck with stupid last names?

Thanks!

Hi Furyian and welcome to the forum :)

I'm afraid you're stuck with the names LL comes up with. Although a bit further up in this thread Nika suggests it is possible to get a custom name if you're willing to pay for it.

Wouldn't go around shouting "stupid names" if I were you though ;) I'm kinda fond of my name actually. :o

I'd seriously love to change my name!!

I wish I had realized just how long the damn thing was when I got it. I don't mind the Lilliehook so much, as I despise HoneyBear.

a name is a name is a name. it's only a label at the end of the day. If you realise after the event of starting it, you don't like it, it's cheap and easy to start afresh and yes, I remember the issue with the non-copy content. I'd recommend continuing with the original as an alt to the new main account. It's not as if having another avatar is going to be expensive.

I wonder if Trout wishes he could choose a new surname.

Funny guy. I've made it abundantly clear that I'd do just about anything to get a new surname. I know it's my fault, but I really can't BELIEVE that someone at LL thought it was a good idea to add "Recreant", knowing full well the confusion it was likely to cause stupid people like myself. They should really be ashamed. That just wasn't a cool move.

Honestly, even if it was a matter of paying them off, I'd do it.

It wouldn't hurt to drop a notecard on a Linden's profile offering cash (Lindens/real money whatever) for a name change. At least I think it wouldn't hurt... You can try a support ticket; let me know how that goes.

Um, Honey has a well established and thriving business, a 12k item inventory, land ownership, a house, furniture, a partner, and more non-transferrables clothes than any one girl should ever own....not quite that easy for me.

Between hubs and me, we have spent literally hundreds of USD in SL...our choice - not a complaint, but just impossible to walk away from.
