is a name change possible on an avatar?

dont want to start over because have so many no copy items on this avatar...but dont like name anymore..any ideas?

Except for minor changes like capitalizing a name which a few people here say has been done for them, you are stuck with your name for ever.

It can't hurt to ask, though, but one should do it knowing the answer will almost certainly be no.

or, we could try to be a little sensitive to the 10,000 "lunatics" that have a) been offended by a woman who goes to a Muslim country and knowingly does something incredibly offensive and b) been brought up in a society where that sort of offense is punishable by extreme measures. I'm not saying it's right that the society is like this, but surely she knew it going in and yet she still decided to name a toy after Prophet Mohammed.

You know it was the kids who named the teddy bear right? I assume you also know that it was a kid named Mohammed who chose the name, because that was his name. The Sudanese are such savages that they make the Arabs look civilized, and that takes a lot.

A cynic might suggest that the Sudanese are kicking up a fuss, pretending to be offended, then letting her out of prison after 15 days in order to look magnaminous and thus direct attention away from their acts of sub-human barbarism in Darfur. That's what a cynic might say. Being sensitive is why we're in the mess we're in - because so many woolley liberals are scared to offend people who have chosen to be our enemies. What the hell has happened to us? What happened to destroying your enemies before they destroy you? Oh, and you can't change your name. It's built into the mechanics of the game for LL to do it, if a name is in breach of their policies, but they won't let you do it on request.

The Lindens don't respond to posts in Resident Answers, and only rarely in the content forums (building tips, etc.). So you're stuck with us on this

I have heard of people getting a specific name for a new avatar or even a specific last name for their corporation in the past. I believe the amount mentioned was $100 U.S. - but I'm not sure about that number.

However, I have not heard of any individual doing this in recent times. You'd have to contact the Lindens directly.

As a woolley liberal myself i resent the implication that I am sitting around singing Disney tunes while the world is going to hell in a hand basket... - I know that there are people out there that want to destroy the US, but I don't see that as the result of liberal sensitivity but instead as the fruits of misguided, ignorant and self serving foreign policy. Yes, we have enemies, but not as many as some people would like us to believe.

With that said.. Sudan/Darfur is a place where there the gray areas are not as clear and I would be willing to go and kick some serious ass there.
