I've posted once or twice. I mostly lurk.
I do it a lot in SL, too. |

I been in SL for 2 years but I only just found the forums after a friend told me to ask my question here. Reading the comments is entertaining but I do not have much to say.

I've posted awhile back, but RL pulled me away. Now I kinda just lurk.

Wow - there already is a kangaroo hopping around SL? I should have guessed. Well, back to the drawing board . . . Still not many lurkers coming out, I see. Kangaroo? Not so much a lurker as a wallabe lurker? _____________________

2 years in SL now and check the forums almost every day. lol I do post occasionally so not sure if I'm really a lurker. BTW, in SL I own 7 regions mainland, 3 islands and a few openspaces. Yeah I'm a land baron. Best part is I made all my money in world. Camped my way into a poker game. Won enough to rent a little 512, subleased it and just kept on keeping on. RL? I'm a Sword Swallower. Really, I'm a bonafied circus sideshow geek. http://www.XE3000.com Also did a few episodes of Monster Garage, Battlebots, went to London to fight on Robot Wars. Right now I'm chilling in California about to open a new armoury. Yeah I make sword fighting armour for the SCA and other renaissance groups. Interesting enough? If I win give my prize to Desmond. He's my idol =) Hah! Just read this! Anyone with a life as cool as yours should *not* consider any path of mine, sir! Here's the keys to my office, let's trade lives! Except, ah... the part about swallowing swords, I'd die... and I have no skill at making armour... I guess my suburban dad status in a tract home just puts a stake through the heart of it all... but I *could* have been a condender! _____________________

Does the fact that I don't have a clue how to check how many posts I've done make me a lurker? I can figure out that "private message" part ... I just click on the linkee thingee. 0 Unread, Total 0 - does that qualify as a lurker? The only time I come out of hiding is when I decide to unfurl my claws and scratch in someone's general direction that needs a good old fashioned whipping ... and no - I'm not a Neko - I'm just a female that loves to stand on my own personal soapbox on occasion.

You could call me a lurker LOL. I've posted here a couple of times but read here every day! So much to learn from all of you talented folks.
I um... have a carpet store, my own home. Spend most of my time at live music events. I've been to the forum cartel a couple of times - think i read here that it was being dismantled? I'm shy in RL and in SL... |

Hi Charmeine! But just wanted to let you know the forum cartel hangout is not being dismantled. In fact, we are planning ahead for a Halloween party. ![]() You could call me a lurker LOL. lurking
09-10-2008 05:22
yeh i lurk if the definition of lurking is not interacting with the sl environment.
I seek deliberately isolated areas where i can dance be stupid and mess about without someone saying 'like ehhh?' I lurk around sex joints watching poor grey noobs trying to have sex with their freebie attachments. I smirk at their chatting up, especially where some speak english and the rest a mix of poorly translated text. A lurker is a watcher, not much of a talker so I dress in my cycle helmet and clips, scruffy clothes and satchel and lurk...............if you are gonna lurk u gotta look the part. I reckon lurkers usually are quite obvious to others that they are lurkers. I suppose i lurk around the sl forum and post little, because most the time I haven't got a clue what anyone is on about! lol what a dull boring little existence i have.........you have much to learn grasshopper. lurking dog |

Hello fellow Lurkers, Lurkettes, and especially Lurk Enablers!
I think I asked a question or two early on - but since rez day I just peak in here (everyday - almost all day off and on) to learn things, giggle, and well, observe drama from the sidelines. Not to mention feed my addiction to SL and all that it is. My rl husband and I started in sl together several months ago and are having a BLAST exploring, partying and creating together. It has really been therapeutic for us given that we run a stock brokerage firm by day and have a busy family household besides. It's almost as if we are dating again. I was initially excited about the building possibilities as I have an art degree collecting dust. But since I have been in world I have really discovered my desire for the night life - lol. Now we work as dj and hostess in a club and I spend an awful lot of time shopping for outfits to wear out and going to events! I keep waiting for the "newness" to wear off - but every day I am amazed at the sights around me and the amzing people from all over the world that we come in contact with. |

Is there a scale of lurkiness?? Something like ... take the number of times you visit the forums in a 24 hour period multiply that by the number of posts made since sign up, then subtract the number of letters in your first SL name divide that by 15. Then, calculate the number of days your account has been active, and add your RL age. Then, divide the answer from the second section by the answer from the first section. Extrapolation, anyone??? 42 |

heh, this thread reeled this lurker in !
I lurk here while eating lunch. Some of the drama-posts make for entertaining reading. .. found some good answers to questions I had about SL too. Inworld I wander around, look at things , learn how to do things, try and remember how to do things I did last visit... dress my avi up and then dress him/her down , have a dance somewhere & yesterday joined a music quiz. Also just bought some land and made a quiet hangout for myself. I have a sail boat I can't control very well yet 8( and intend to learn how to build a bit. I know a couple of people here but we are on different continents so not often on line at the same time. Once I met a vampire but politely declined her offer to bite me and another time had a very strange little man drop a lot of stuff on my head and fill up chat with pages and pages of shouting in Spanish while I was trying to build something in a sandbox. Very odd. |
