Already heard back on the SEC. It is a known problem but not classified as an exploit.

"This is a problem with the vendor's scripts or website, not a problem with Second Life. The script author should be checking that the message comes from agni, not aditi or another grid if they want to write their own commerce system."

Well I went ahead and filed an SEC on it. If I was the first then I'll give you the reward MoxZ. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

This is a bug in that skate vending script, not an issue with Second Life. The Second Life merchant system does deliver to the appropriate grid. The vending script should verify that it's running on ganga using the llGetSimulatorHostname function.

http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlGetSimulatorHostname

If we disabled http functions on the beta grid to prevent this, it would limit what scripters can test there.

Oh please don't disable anything more on the beta grid.

I wish we could buy land there.

MoxZ got a prompt sensible response from a Linden staffer as a result of her post, that's worth a bunch of forum points, in my book.

Now if there was just something one could do with forum points.

Yes, Softs very fast response and going the extra step and replying here is very appreciated!

The only question I have with the response thou is this line:

From: Soft Linden
The vending script should verify that it's running on ganga

Why do vendor scripts need to smoke pot? :D

WOOT! I have a new sig!

It helps to keep the prices sufficiently high.

Just FTR It wasn't just this vendor. I purposely went seeking out others to see if this was a single issue and it wasn't. I've recieved another item in my live grid inventory.
I do agree that it must be a vendor script issue.

Which leads me to ask. Why are there stores on the beta grid? Today was the first time I've ventured out beyond the area that I recall being dropped in when first joining SL. I had no idea there were stores until today. How did they get there? Why are they still there? Don't they get auto returned after a certain amount of time? I saw stores of some pretty big names here in SL. Is there a thread that can explain this?

There are random sims that are out beyond the main land. So your simple vendors that give the item directly to the person should not have this problem.

There have been stores in the beta grid as long as I can remember, though I don't actually remember the first time I was in the beta grid.

THere's generally the old area, Ahern, Morris, the vehicle sims, Cordova , and up north where the Pixel Dolls store used to be.

Then there's some scattered islands the Lindens select for their purposes, and some sims that sim owners have asked to be inluded in the beta grid so they can test things before they hit the live grid.

Is it doing something like sending the request to a server and then the server delivers the product? So there's a message sent from beta and the reply goes to the main grid? This is just a guess, I don't understand technology.

I think it's so we can test that buying stuff hasn't been broken by the stuff in the beta test?

I love shopping on beta, and I've got a few things that I hunted down on the main grid and bought there because I liked them so much.
