So anyway, I'm looking for a good place for voice chat.. Ive been to Krysss Wings 2 NightClub already, but I was hoping there would be another place sorta like that.

I don't suggest Ahern or Waterhead teleubs. No greifer control= Chat Ghetto.

I have a unused underground pub on VooDoo Island I have voice on. Some musicians have discovered it and have been having jam sessions in there. I deeded it to a group entitle SOCIAL DISCOURSE. For now it is accessible by anyone. I hope it can stay that way. Just teleport to the VooDoo Lounge and walk out the back down the stairs. Enjoy.

Best place for voice chat? Switch off the computer and go out to the pub.

Hi Kairi,

you are not the only one wondering and I almost started this thread myself yesterday. I'm anxious to try voice in a group environment just to see what it's like, although I'd also like to avoid areas with griefers and too many idiots.

Does no one have any real suggestions?

(I don't consider going to a RL pub to be a real suggestion, since we're talking about SL here. Also, I can do without the second hand smoke, thanks!)

Id suggest wherever Squeeze1pow hangs out - since he is a vocal supporter of voice chat, im sure he would encourage someone experimenting with it.

Maybe he can chime in with some ideas.

Honestly I don't really like going to social places simply for the sake of "meeting people". In SL as well as RL I tend to make friends with mutual friends and go to places where I already know people. When I meet someone that isn't a friend of a friend it's usually out of coincidence at a place where we share mutual interest or because one of us complements the other for their av or vehicle.

I've been to Krysss's's''s place but that's because we're homies and I already know about 1/3 of the people there through the methods mentioned above.

Otherwise I don't seek out conversation for conversation's sake. Sorry to dissappoint Colette.

You know, Colette, maybe I'll have a big party at my land and invite everyone from the forums. I have a cave with moss covering the front where you and the other rabid anti-voice/anti-change people can hide out of fear of the future. I'll even make you some ostrich anims to use!

Stop griefing me, Colette, and debate me on my land using voice! We'll make a socio-political event out of it so you can feel important!

Thankyou to everyone who actually posted suggestions without being sarcastic or rude.. there was really no need for that, if you don't like the forum, don't enter it.

hehe...you aren't on these forums very often, are you? This place is ALL ABOUT not liking things!

Anyway, I've been surprised by how many places are already listing "voice" or "voice enabled" in their descriptions. I'm sure you'd be able to find something good if you just searched "voice".

I actually wasnt griefing you - I thought - since you are an active voicer you might know of a place that might help the Original Poster.

I had no idea you do not make an effort to meet new people - I find that odd considering some of the arguments you have made on this subject.

This is why I avoid forums, but no, I do on them a lot.

I have searched that, but a lot of the times there is no one talking there

That's because you still don't understand my position on voice.

btw I met 3 new people last night through the methods I mentioned earlier. I'm still social. I'm just not the kind of person that needs to have a ton of friends. I seek quality, not quantity.

That doesn't mean I think other people should do the same when using voice. That's their choice to use it in any capacity they can come up with. I'm okay with that.

That's the summary of my position on voice. ;)

As far as you griefing. I guess I jumped the gun. I'm just so used to any post of your's with my name in it being somewhat malicious or condescending!

So how about that debate?

There is no point debating you - You have publically said on more than one occasion that I am incapable of debate.

Which is ironic since you seem ready to dismiss ANY argument that disagrees with your opinion.

From my standpoint it would be preferable to debate a brick wall since it is more likely to consider the things I've said on their merits.

Besides the fact that your consistant parroting, "I know you are but what am I?", statements really are more argravating that nails on a chalkboard.

Now THAT'S the Colette I've come to know and love...well, know, anyway. :D

You also seemed to miss the part of the last post where I essentially I was admitting that I was wrong about your intentions of mentioning me in this thread. That should show you that I am able to concede the point when it has been adequately proven to me.

Also, a great way to prove me wrong about your ability to debate would be to debate me!

What if we called it a discussion about voice chat, it's pros, cons and social implications? We could each make our points separately without any concern for confrontation then have an open discussion without the pretext of debate.

I guess not all of us are entitled to voicing our opinion in her world. Must be a lonely place...

Question.

Is the voice chat fully implemented in sl? Or are they still testing it out in different areas?

Also, did they installed the private conversations in VC or not yet? I checked the blog but haven't seen anything new on VC.

Thanks

As of right now you need Firstlook to do voice chat and it is being implemented in phases across the grid. Private calls and group calls seem to work (I've been on a few) and they do so even if you're in an area that isn't voice enabled.

Well if it makes ya feel any better, I used to fit that description and I didn't even realize it...and yep, it sure as hell *was* a lonely place.

Just out of curiousity, have you found any other potential for Voice chat in SL than the obvious just "killing time"/meeting new people, etc.?

This question kinda springs from my past experiences in using it to coordinate competitive strategies in online cooperative games; CounterStrike, 25 To Life, Ghost Recon, etc.

Voice made those videogames seem more fast-paced and exciting, *and* it encouraged teamwork among strangers and RL friends alike, which gave us another level of immersion and camaraderie.
