Can't Buy Lindens???

I have always been able to buy Lindens just fine, but today, I can't. I've checked my account and made sure the billing is normal etc... Am I the only one with this problem? Any suggestions?

Are you over your limit for the month? You could be hitting a buy limit or a money in limit. What is the error you get?

I definitely would not be over the limit. I don't spend too much.
I've tried again and again.
I went and tried again, here is the error:

We are unable to complete your request.
• Failed to bill your account. Please double check your account's payment settings.
• The system encountered an error while processing your order, please try again.

I think I'm going to go to bed now... but any help is appreciated ahead of time.

That error sounds like it is billing issue. The system could be having issues. I know at about this time they start charging accounts. I would just try again later. Or you can try a different CC. Maybe the CC you have on file won't authorize the transaction to LL. I had that happen once, the CC wanted to make sure that the card wasn't stolen and I had to call them to get it straightened out.

One may not be able to buy Lindens, but I have read rumors that it is possible to sweet talk them.

maybe your CC expired or your paypal settings changed.

I checked my paypal settings. Everything is normal. Still can't buy them this morning. Same error is occuring. This is really frustrating!!! I updated all my Paypal account stuff too, just to make sure. Heh, maybe it is a good thing I can't buy any Lindens!!!

Same thing is happening to two avatars in this household. Not close to any limit. Any paypay transfer inworld or via SL site is failing.

When this has happened in the past, I know LL has sometimes recommended canceling your current billing agreement with them and then establishing a new one. If you want to try that, go into Profile in your PayPal account, choose Billing Agreements under Financial Information, click on the link that says something like 'Linden Research, Inc,' then choose Cancel Agreement at the bottom. You can then set up a new agreement through your online SL account. Before you click cancel though, check your PayPal billing limit vs. the total billed this cycle in the center of the Billing Agreement Details page, just to be sure you haven't exceeded the agreed monthly amount on PayPal's end. If you have, you can increase it via the Edit Billing Limit button.

I started a thread about this earlier /327/7b/170444/1.html . It would seem from the number of people with the same problem that it is some sort of bug.

Anyway, I will try to redo the billing. I did reset it earlier, but I don't think I ever cancelled it before I reset it. Thanks for all the help everyone. Hopefully, the Lindens will work on this, cos it seems like something on the SL side. Blah.

Well, I've tried everything including the Linden suggestions, no luck. Dammit!

I wrote to support. Others that are having this problem, please do the same. We want them to know it is serious! Thanks=)

I tried resetting the billing, too, but with no luck. I've reported it as a bug - hope it gets some results.

I had the same problem today as well. I didn't figure I would have a problem with someone TAKING my money. does this mean our Premium payments won't go through? (chuckles).

I would be glad to exchange your lindens at a fair echange rate, considering you have a verified and confirmed paypal address, if you are not able to process it by the time you need it. Just gimmie a shout and I'll deposit them into your account no more than an hour after I have verified payment.

I just tried to buy currency again with no success. I asked Live Help about the problem and was told that they are investigating "a number of issues in-world". I was advised to keep checking the blog.

I recently changed my PayPal funding source from a credit card to my UK bank account. That apparently was the problem: LL will accept payment through PayPal using a debit card (in my case, Switch/Maestro) linked to that account, but not directly from the account itself. I edited the payment agreement so that the funding source is my Switch card. I have just successfully purchased lindens and I'm in a spending mood [WOOHOO].

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but for anyone who has PayPal linden-buying problems, and is using a non-US bank account, it might be worth looking at the source of PayPal funding.

I got the same answer this morning from Live Help.Still no luck buying. If fixing this isn't a priority for them, I don't know what is.

I don't know if this would work for users outside the US, but have you tried a pre-paid credit card?

Most banks offer them in the US, and it's essentially a disposeable credit card. It can only spend what you put into it, so if it is lost or stolen your risk is limited, and you can control how much you can possibly spend with it.

I don't know if you can recieve money from LL to a pre-paid CC, but it is supposed to work just like a normal CC in every respect.

I've been with SL for a year now, and LL has always had issues with PayPal. It really seems like those PayPal users who can, should find alternate ways to pay LL.

I am having the same problem with buying lindens. My Paypal account is fine and I'm not over my limit. I have even sent an email to "support" but I am have not received a reply yet. This is very frustrating cause my rent is due soon!!! Ugggghhh!!

Have you tryed "Increase your credit" on the right?

It's badly named, but what it does is seperate the money transfer from the lindeX transaction.

By transfering the money first and then using a limit buy $1L lower than the current lowest "Open Buy Order" you can get a better exchange rate while only having to wait a few hours most of the time.
