It's not an act of the Linden gods and goddesses. I've been with him in world and there is almost certainly some sortof burp in the database. I'm pretty confident that we can rule out "Evil Linden" here and perhaps move on to something more constructive. Ill beleive that when a few my freind's names start getting jumbled around, FIRST letter of first name only. Actually none of my freinds names have ever been changed that Im aware of. Obviously someone changed it. Its the Why thats hard to determine. Datebase error is easier to dimiss away than "April fool - sorry we took it so far" Besides if its database error why hasnt it been switched BACK? |

Or maybe Faybot and Gaybot are the same person. It could easily be him trying to fool us. It really is not that hard to have cancel an account and he is just using an alt now.

As one of Gaybot's friends, and someone who has experimented with scripts which target him, I can confirm that Faybot Foxley has the same avatar key as Gaybot Foxley used to have. I still have Gaybot's contact card, and when Faybot logs on, Gaybot appears on my friends list. They are the same AV. This leaves the following possibilities: - Deliberate name change by a Linden - if so, why? and why no notification email? - Accidental name change by a Linden - again, why no notification email? - Name changed by a "hacker" - eek! - Database error (F is only one bit different from G) - eek! |

Are you sure your friend's account was banned Yiffy? Does the login message still say "SL cannot be accessed from this computer"? Please go and read that topic. that question has been answered already. But to be brief, she was in fact banned... About your name change problem though, I really wish they would allow adult profile. But were talking about Linden Lab here... They aren't very adult-like themselves. *rolls Eyes* I'm sorry if i seam like i'm attacking them verbally, but i lost all faith i ever had in Linden Lab. AFIAK they can sell SL to microsoft... It's probably better off in their hands anyway. *knows it wouldn't but doesn't care anymore*. _____________________

I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it's not permanent; they really should send some kind of automated email telling people when they are banned and for how long. What if it was a mistake and it is disuputable? When a friend of mine and I first started playing this game, the friend was using a fire freebie to set fires everywhere. It was our first day and he got banned, lol. Of course, he deserved it, but he seemed to know somehow that he would be allowed to come back in 8 hours.
P.S. And yes, I still haven't been transformed back into a Gaybot.  |

Nope sorry not the same. If that is the case then Sony really needs to learn how to read. Tristan Eliot sends Sony his nephew's copy of Hooked on Phonics  Seriously though, LL has been known to go through and change offensive group names with out warning or explaination. I woudn't expect to get one for your name change gaybot even though yours isn't offensive in my opinion. |

I was having a "different" problem with LL, and while reading the ToS came across the following. It unambiguously states they DON'T HAVE TO NOTIFY YOU ... say, if you were banned, or if they change your login name, and, obw, they don't have to refund your now_locked_up_funds ! Read On:
ToS 2.6 Linden Lab may suspend or terminate your account at any time, without refund or obligation to you. Linden Lab has the right at any time for any reason or no reason to suspend or terminate your Account, terminate this Agreement, and/or refuse any and all current or future use of the Service without notice or liability to you. In the event that Linden Lab suspends or terminates your Account or this Agreement, you understand and agree that you shall receive no refund or exchange for any unused time on a subscription, any license or subscription fees, any content or data associated with your Account, or for anything else. |

Particularly in this case, when we're not talking about some prim with a texture, we're talking about the ability of a well liked resident in good standing to even log on. If this was a DMCA complaint by Sony, fine. I'll refrain from spewing the expletives that are tossing 'round my head. In fact I'll refrain from constructing the remainder of this post, as it does seem to contain expletives. Well, I did a Google search on gaybots and came up with a few things. First, not the same thing, but apparently there is such a thing as a Gaobot Virus. The urban dictionary had a few "interesting definitions" for gaybots. I guess some guy named Robby calls himself gaybot. lol And there is some kind of newsbot named...gaybot. lol |

I sent an IM to a famous Linden with a link to this forum thread. My old posts are all the proof I have of what my name used to be. I sent 3 emails to [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] because I couldn't remember which email was associated with my account. I changed my email since then, but they never replied. I haven't had the time to call them yet. I don't know what the personal email addresses are for the Lindens. I am going to go to the Linden Village right now and see if anyone is there.

The requirements and procedures of trademark law are different then copyright law. For example: upon detection of trademark infringing content, they are required by law to remove it. If they do not remove it they are legally liable for trademark infringement regardless of who uploaded it. On the other hand if they come across copyrighted material they are not legally required to do anything nor are they liable. If someone makes a DMCA complaint only then are they required to do anything; and if they follow the guidelines dictated by the DMCA they avoid liability. Of course I'm not a lawyer and these are just my understandings of how the law works. It is not to be used as legal counsel. _____________________
