Same problem here in Germany... different notes saying access denied. Ok, something might have happened, it wont kill me, i am sure, not to be in sl for some time. but what really gets me angry is this stupid note here:

"While trying to retrieve the URL: http://secondlife.com/app/login/
The following error was encountered:
* Access Denied.
Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect.
Your cache administrator is webmaster. "

Better not try to contact this mysterious webmaster, because it is an empty link. Why put a note like that if later on it wont work????

DNS issue? hits Europeans only?
07-28-2007 08:43
This seems to be a DNS issue:

http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph?site=login.agni.lindenlab.com

netcraft.com is located in U.K. Does anybody who has been hit by this live in the U.S.? (i'm in Europe myself)

Germany here as well.. hm..
so far I tried the following solutions
without sucess in different combinations:

a) clear SL Cache
b) resetting my DSL connection to get a different IP from my provider
c) logging in an alt I normally use for testing
d) restarting the computer, after wiping any temporary windows/sl/internet files automanually :)

I then tried to connect using
the evil voice first look viewer
and got the client side pop up:

"Unable to connect to Second Life.
DNS could not resolve the host name."

Which in my humble wild guess could implicate that there is a problem
a) with the "internet" routing path to Linden Labs
b) with local linden lab infrastructure..

Yeah I tried all that PLUS double checking my firewall pot permissions....

I got the same access denied message. After reading this thread I tried to log in and got in-world OK - no problems - my L$ are all there, my home, my club, my clothes etc!

It seems to be a problem specifically with the login page and 'access denied' refers to that rather than the 'world'. Since the login buttons are on screen and they work, that is what I conclude!

I finally managed to get in too.
And yes, I meant to say port permissions, not pot- I doubt smoking would really help now... :D

People were getting in all along. I can't believe how many threads there are on this issue.

The tech forum is also full of them.

Another minor annoyance brought to you by Linden Labs. No extra charge.

I just forgot to read the warning label ...

Sorry if you were not in. Most people were able to zoom through once they were able to ignore the log in screen message and hit the connect button. I have become aware that a few (it seems mostly Europeon) residents had more issues with the log on process.

My apologies.

I'm having the problem again. And ignoring the "Access Denied" screen does NOT help. It never has, at least not for me.

Same error Downunder but it doesn't seem to affect actual logging in - once I got in however, things are borked up in a lot of places.

The problem is back again for me as well.
I cannot log In.
DNS error pop up.

This time it started in game with asset server issues,
while i tried to save some scripts.

Intrestingly IMs were still working.

I then tried to relogg and.. voila :)

The information on the blog is simply not correct.
Whatever work is done at the moment it breaks at least my access.

Same issue by me. I'm from Germany and got that "access dennied" message for the last hours and couldn't login. Now, the login screen is right, but I'm still not able to login, because of an DNS fault. I could get really angry with the Lindens, because they needed days for that blog entry and it doesn't tell the truth at all. There are many people with login problems and the MUST have recognized that.

I'm not certain whether it actually is the Lindens, or rather a German provider problem.

I've just solved the problem (after a useful hint from Alyx) by setting my computer's TCP/IP settings to two fixed DNS servers instead of automatic ones.

Now it's working again.
