...now i see at my transaction history that i lost 1000 L$ by System. At Type there is noted: Renewal. Can anyone tell me, what does it mean?

Do you have a classified ad? Perhaps it's the renewal fee for the ad.

I think it is a step in the right direction. Many people including myself were burnt on first land.
This raise also makes premium very much worth it for both Linden and its customers in the long run. Premium becomes worth the cost. Premium users may also own land and my get into buying more than 512 which will get tier for LL. Businesses will see both an increase in sales on stipend day, as well as new businesses and houses popping up which makes sales of business and household related item sales go up (teleporters, vendors, furniture, etc.)

In the long run I think this is the start of a great business move by LL if it stays. It is a win/win situation for all those involved including LL.

I am most interested in changes such as these as they stimulate the economy and make the community grow. With the lack of customer satisfaction at its high, this is a step in the right direction to help the platform grow in the long term.

I hope this trend continues. There are many more things to be done, but I think this will cover the issues of premium not being worth it. About 80% of people I have run into in the last months have been "no payment info on file". I hope this stays, is announced, not yanked away after being announced (it tends to happen) and premium membership increases.

I think it's an oversight - breaking yet another thing that "works." It is wishful thinking on our part to think that they won't fix it so that the few premium accounts that are out there can buy 200 extra L each week.

Interestingly older premium a/c holders are in fact slowly bankrupting LL -

I get L$500 stipend so L$2000 per month at current rates this is $7.82 in USD - I pay quarterly and my account fee is US$7.50 per month which means I'm $0.32 up!!

Bt I guess it costs LL less than $7.82 to "print" L$2000 so in that respect it's false economy... where's my accountant?

...
...
...

Oh crap I haven't got an accountant but I've estimated that if I switch to an annual account I can singlehandely bankrupt linden labs in approximately 3.2million years

w000t!!!

Renewal sounds like a classified ad charge.

I got it, too--and a PONY!

I'm still waiting for that long-promised mule.

Sounds like we discovered a glitch. Probably a rather expensive one, too.

Feeling pessimistic today, sorry. If it is a bug or glitch, if they have lost the ability to pay different stipend levels based on when we went premium, then I expect the next move will be everyone switches to L$300 per week. Or the cancellation of stipends altogether.

Wouldn't be surprised if they corrected today's mistake either and took back the extra L$200 at some point either.

At the moment I can't believe this was done intentionally. After all, with all the things to complain about and the Open Letter thing going on, don't you think they'd have jumped at the chance to blog something Good and Positive, like a stipend increase?

Yes your right with a stipend base of 500 you come out ahead. In best case scenario you win the most at annual membership which you pay $72 a year or broken down, $6 a month.
If you were to cash out your stipend for the year 500*52 /277 -3.5% you would make $90.58 or a profit of $18.57. However the increase in land owners far outweighs this cost and the amount of tier gained by LL. A person only has to increase their tier ONE TIME over the alloted 512 to make up for the loss by LL. With people's tier ranging from $8, to $15, to $40, $75, $125 and up, this incentive is negligible. On average LL's top priority is selling land and making tier. That is how they make their money. The more people that own land the better it is for LL regardless of price, which is why it is economical for LL to force the price of land down, because it equals more people being able to afford land, thus more people that will have to pay tier.

On the other hand it also forces those premium users to be committed to the game for a year. I think this is a positive thing because if they are forced to live here for such a time, maybe they will care more about the place they have to live. Right now we have a bunch of non paying people who could care less what happens in game as they have no commitment to it.

It is one of the underlying problems of the design of unverified users. There is no commitment to the community, and is used as more of a game rather than a platform.
I know plenty of people who are not only no payment info on file, but have been in here for over a year and not contributed a thing. They are perfectly happy to use LL as a giant free 3d chat room. Its a great thing don't get me wrong. However unless something scales
this can't be the "new internet". Millions upon millions of users are on the web, this is not the web. Maybe it is the future of 3d web, but it can not be both, not yet, and the problem is we have people that are using it just for that purpose.

Did that 200 bucks make you happy for ten minutes? Then it worked. Go buy yourself a new pair of boots, the Lindens aint so bad after all.

I guess the good news is that LL is always super slow to fix anything, so maybe this new glitch will continue a while! Too bad we $500 stipend people didn’t get a raise though. O well!

Seriously though, they really should be more careful. $200 extra lindens for all of those $300 stipend adds up over numerous accounts. I'm not sure how they do financially, but I'm sure that will dent their pockets a bit. I'm more interested in the overall success of SL and they really shouldn't be making mistakes like this.

If I was LL, I'd be embarrassed...

So, when can we expect word on if it will stay like this or not? I'd go premium if I thought it was going to stay at $500. If it won't, I'll continue to dither about it some more.
