I believe I said it before the last time this came up, but personally I have no problem with people in SL owning guns, as I own a few myself. Wearing guns? I don't particularly like it, but unless we're at the club where I work I won't give you to hard a time about it. Using guns however? That should only be done among friends and/or in the proper areas. If I see some bloke walking thru a mall armed to the teeth with everything from a broadsword to sub machine gun...hey...knock yourself out. You wander into my home or place of business (nightclub) wearing a weapon and you got to go or the weapons do. Not because I think you'll cause trouble, but because I know someone else will walk in, see said weapon, and think it's a fine time to start a gunfight.

Not because I think you'll cause trouble, but because I know someone else will walk in, see said weapon, and think it's a fine time to start a gunfight. This is true! People give me a hard time because i tell them to remove their weapons in our sim. I tell them the same thing. Here would be a tipicle attempt! Yiffy: Please remove your weapon, we do not allow them in this sim. Someone: I won't use it. It don't push. Has no Script. Yiffy: Doesn't matter if it's unscripted or contains candy when i smash it. You need to remove it. Yiffy: Even if YOU don't use it, if others see you wearing it, they might think it's ok to pull theirs out and start shooting. Yiffy: Then i would have to ban everyone whoes wearing guns. So to prevent that, please remove the weapon. Then i get prepared to eject if they don't. _____________________

I remember a case where a guy came into the sim in a pistol avatar. The guy was a huge handgun with eyes and a large barrel for a nose. O.o I was thinking "should i tell him to remove it?" Buti let that one slip. Soon enough he left on his own.

I'm pretty sure the "zomg remove the gun attachment!" places invite more trouble than they stop. Especially since the best weapons are invisible, and remotely competent griefers know that.
Deep breaths. Calm. It's just an object. It's just a shape. Common sense. Not so common ... ![]() _____________________

I think this whole suggestion is just crazy!! We have enough trouble with griefers without arming bears too!! I mean, imagine you're happily eating a sandwich, when a bear comes out of nowhere and guns you down to steal your picnic basket!!
What? *whispering heard in the background* You mean they're not arming bears? *more whispering* Oh, okay then. |

Anytime I see an armed intruder attempting to intemidate me or my guests on my land, whilst carrying some 20th century, badly textured machine gun, I'm at best amused. How do you get them to turn tail and run back, oft weeping, to the first person shooter gamer from whence they came? Two words: Beehive Launcher. ![]() (no bees or avatars harmed in the preceding demonstration) ![]() I like hitting them with watermelons. |

A good point Morwen! Persuing that a little further, by displaying arms on residents computers in countries where arms are illegal, are LL and anyone using arms opening themselves to criminal prosecution? Could LL appear in international courts as often as Microdo$h? ![]() No, it's a computer game. There, that was easy wasn't it. |

Bearing arms? Everyone may carry accessories of all sorts on my land, be it dangerously spiked high heels, a sword or a pink father boa. I mean, someone who chooses to look like a Samurai will want to carry a weapon, otherwise he could be a simple paddy farmer just as well. But as soon as that samurai uses his feather boa to strangle unexpecting unarmed bears or activates a hidden caging device in his high heels, he will get banned instantly. People who feel the need to shoot something in my sim can venture out to my spanish galleon and try to sink one of the nearby pelicans with a cannon. Yes, I have a rule against duck abuse, but I do allow pelican sinking... I know it's a twisted double standard. As for arming bears: I'm glad that Bruno, the first wild bear in Germany since 1835 wasn't armed, otherwise he might have shot back at our heroic bavarian huntsmen (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5116316.stm). Had they not been allowed to carry firearms, Bruno would still be violating defenseless beehives and rabbit hutches. And we've all read what those beasts do to innocent girls in red hoods (actually, that was a wolf, but we killed all of those too). Where is your land? I would like to shoot pelicans with a cannon ![]() |

I think you can put all (or most) weapon code in a HUD attachment anyway, which no one would be able to see at all. -MM Shhhhhhh!!!! They'll hear you!! |

No, it's a computer game. There, that was easy wasn't it. Ahh... now suddenly it is a computer game! Well, if it is that simple... don't wear weapons, it is just a computer game! Now the next is really simpel... As you claim the right to think you have to right to wear a weapon, so I have the right to tell not to do so on my land. Now this was easy..... You know why? Come on my land and I catch you there with a weapon, you will be in seconds not be there anymore. Simpler then this it cannot get. Morwen. |

It's like giving everybody razer sharp claws and wild instincts. Not everyone will use them but those who do are most likely to tear you to shreds. I shun the use of weaponry in SL if it's not controled in a safe envoritonment. IRL i never see people carrying guns when they go out for a walk or at work. There are laws against it for good reason.
You wouldn't be able to tell who is and who isn't a terrorist or murderer untill it's too late. I know you gun toters are probably like "oh if someone shot me in SL il just laugh and shoot back!" but think about the rest of us who do not come here for that nor find joy in it. Some of us come here for reasons OTHER then pretending SL is a FPS game. I come to SL to build, socialize, create a community, be a furry, and live in peace. Things i can't do IRL. Weapons, cops, killers, terrorists, and retards do not fit into my fantasy and so i try to stay clear of them, however they don't stay clear of me. Not a day goes by that i don't find myself banning someone for caging, harrassing, or protending to be a Linden or some kind of law enforcement that can tell me what to do. _____________________

I think I'm going to ask everyone to leave who shows up wearing a prim furry head. Just the head; I don't care about the body so much. Furry heads might encourage other people to wear furry heads, and then we'd have a furry epidemic in no time!
Hmm. For the same reason, I'm restricting prim shoes. No shoes allowed! ![]() _____________________

After great study of this issue I agree that residents have the right to bear arms on their own land.

I had some idiot come onto my land yesterday with a watermelon gun, firing at me.
So I whipped out my chicken launcher - which fires little chicks with sticks of dynamite attached to their backs, which then latch onto the nearest avatar to their drop point and follow them before exploding. I froze the guy so he couldn't move, and set a few chickens off in his direction. Once I'd blown him up a few times, I ejected and banned him. Lewis _____________________

Thats something i've never seen before. I have seen a Chicken Rezzer that would randomly pop chickens all over the ground that cluck cluck cluck a lot. ![]() _____________________
